The Lib Dem LGBT twitter feed is annoyed at Mumsnet

Apparently the Alt-Right and 4-Chan are using MN.
I think it's just one person who controls their tweets. I really hope that the top Lib Dems know what's being said.

Here you go, Lana.

AngryAttackKittens · 05/04/2018 08:44

Also...

rowdywoman1 · 05/04/2018 10:00

@Anlaf
I had a Lib Dem canvasser yesterday. They left with a very clear explanation as to why I couldn't vote for an anti democratic party that silences and threatens women.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 05/04/2018 10:28

@AngryAttackKittens

Brilliant clips - I'll have to start watching South Park again. They so capture those social justice types….Principle PC Bro….it's all about getting more puss - and poor Lesley (great analogy of women getting killed by SJWs)

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/04/2018 10:39

Thanks AngryAttackKittens!

He's a bloody brilliant parody of exactly the type of Brocialist SJW that are all over this shit.

It's like suddenly letting a bunch of 15 yr olds loose in politics, giving them power with zero checks and balances, and letting them do and say whatever they want.

It's bandwagon jumping, and as I've said before, a chance for Lefty DudeBros to suddenly unleash their inner misogyny that tbh was only ever superficially under the surface anyway.

AngryAttackKittens · 05/04/2018 10:51

Related! That whole season was pretty much the South Park guys having had enough of all this studenty bollocks.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/04/2018 10:57

Yep that pretty much sums up what the TRAs do on Twitter.

"This is my safe space where only people who agree with me and say fluffy wuffy things about me can be.......no reality or inconvenient truths here.....just rainbows and sparkles and unicorns"

AngryAttackKittens · 05/04/2018 10:58

I identify as the Snidely Whiplash looking character who sneaks in and spoils it for them (aka Reality).

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/04/2018 10:58

Oh and let's not forget....
"Anyone who doesn't completely agree with me is a big meanie and a hater and THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND ME"

SwearyG · 06/04/2018 16:30

I put in a complaint about it to the LDs. Their response was "wasn't us".

LineyDancer · 06/04/2018 16:44

SwearyG

That's an 'interesting' response. We could ask who runs the affiliated organisation so we can complain to the Lib Dem Party directly about the activities of named Party Members.

Keep pushing it.

I'm going to.

LineyDancer · 06/04/2018 16:46

Head of Compliance (paid senior position) of the Lib Dems is Dave Allworthy, btw.

rowdywoman1 · 06/04/2018 16:54

I wonder if they'd say that if this was about racist or anti - semitic posts? If they can't take responsibility for a rogue twitter site, how on earth can they want to run the bloody country ?!

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2018 16:59

Oh that's interesting... so their federalised system means they can abdicate responsibility does it?

My complaint is modelled around how the LD code of conduct is about balancing values and damaged the interests of others because the LGBT account has been its sexist, rude and dismissive and does not promote debate and instead tries to actively crush it by contributing to an environment which is hostile to that.

It also said it was basically bringing the party into disrepute for accusing MN of being some sort of 'alt-right' group for having different views and daring to talk about them.

No reply here yet.

It will be interesting to see what I get. Especially given the reply you've been given.

That reply isn't good enough btw. You should reply that you have zero confidence that it will be taken seriously, especially given how they have publically responded in public with that account with such contempt to people who have asked how to complain.

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2018 17:07

In fact can anyone find the tweets which were rude to a woman who wanted to complain?

I can't find them now. I did see them previously.

Bekabeech · 06/04/2018 17:09

I have to say that as a member of the Lib Dems (no party is perfect), when on a closed facebook group I expressed some concerns about self identifying and concerns of "women" - I had a number of Trans activists pile on the thread and attack me. Even more so when I dared to mention Mumsnet.

But as I still have reservations over the way they have dealt with serious sexual allegations - I can't be confident they will treat this better.

The underlying principles I agree with, but as a party I think the "men in grey" are struggling to retain power over the 50,000 new members.

Bekabeech · 06/04/2018 17:13

Oh BTW that reply is inadequate because LGBT Lib Dems is a Specified Associate Organisation so is much more tightly woven into the fabric of the party than some general associated organisation.

Here is the thread with the poster who wanted to complain.

From 28th March.

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
@LGBTLD how do I lodge a complaint about the content of this Twitter feed with your party please?

LGBT+ Lib Dems @LGBTLD
Hi. You can contact our chair, @misssb

Jennie Rigg @misssb
waves Hello!

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
Thank you for getting back to me. What is the formal process? Plus are you willing to remove the retweet about 'TERFS' in the meantime? Using a euphemism for women rights activists to demonise is not something I expect

Jennie Rigg ‏***@miss*sb
Ah.
TERF was a term coined by non TE radical feminists to distinguish themselves from RFs who wished to exclude trans women; as such I view it as an entirely non controversial neutral term.

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
Well, times move on. TERF is a call to hatred of women who fight for women's rights as a sex class. As you know. And as I said I would like to make a formal complaint because I have now had enough of this.

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
You can either explain how I do this or you frustrate my complaint and form part of it.

LGBT+ Lib Dems @LGBTLD
Hi. The party body that handles equality issues is FPDC. The LGBT+ representative on FPDC is @GoatSarah, if you wish to contact her.

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
That account is protected. Do you have a woman's rep?

LGBT+ Lib Dems @LGBTLD
Yeah. It’s a shame but she’s had some issues with TERF harassment in the past.

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
Not diplomatic. Are you sure you are official or am I wasting my time?

LGBT+ Lib Dems @LGBTLD
Ok, here’s the thing. We normally have a policy of non engagement with people we believe are acting in bad faith, and you’re kinda showing why.

But I’m going to humour you. Transphobia is incompatible with Lib Dem principles.

And @GoatSarah is a trans woman.

And a lesbian.

PosieBaxter @WomenRedLines
The thing is this is the basis of my complaint. That you treat women campaigning for sex based rights as bad faith bigots. You see the problem?
Alison Simmons @Disingenuous
Oh wow. This has been an education. I was looking at voting LibDem, but, seeing the way someone is treated simply for asking politely how to address a complaint, I don’t think this is my political home.

SamC @Granny_Balloon
This is also how one is treated by the Labour Party if wishing to complain. Seems as though this very important interface with Jo public never staffed by grownups. Just by people who may be the source of the complaint? Quality standards are maintained in this way, I guess!

I'm right in saying that the LD LGBT account is run by four people, one of whom is in a relationship with @GoatSarah?

And this is who the account is directing complaints towards?

The account was rude to someone making inquiries about a complaint in a polite fashion.

And making a point of saying someone was a lesbian, when she asked for a woman's officer, and tried to discourage the individual from making a complaint.

Not forgetting that an actual lesbian might have a bit of an issue with, because of what has been happening on twitter and elsewhere and may not feel comfortable contacting with trans women saying that lesbians are transphobic for not including them in their circles - even if they still have penis.

And we are supposed to have confidence that making a complaint to the LD LGBT Exec will be handled fairly and without bias and will be treated sensitively?

Ok. This could get interesting.

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2018 18:00

Also it appears that Jennie Rigg frequently says that TERF is not offensive.

It looks remarkably in that thread that @LGBTLD is asked who to complain to, then switches to their personal account as Jennie Rigg and says 'hello'. So basically referring someone to themselves.

wildduckhunt · 06/04/2018 18:01

Jennie Rigg has also RT'd a tweet saying "Transwomen are women, transwomen are female"

So let's not hold any hope for logic and/or reason there.

LineyDancer · 06/04/2018 18:18

I'd put all complaints through the Pastoral Care Officer whose paid job it is to ensure complaints are properly dealt with. Say you are complaining about Party Members' inappropriate behaviour where that is appropriate and necessary. If you can't name them because they won't identify themselves, say this to the Pastoral Care Officer. Ask who will be dealing with your complaint.

KatVonSweet · 07/04/2018 11:02

Rude.
I peak transed well before I found MN.

The ridiculous TA do their own damage.

midgebabe · 07/04/2018 18:25

I read the reply from the ld basically say that they do not consider sexism as something that needs to be considered as important because women are not a minority group?

StarsAndWater · 07/04/2018 18:39

Hey, LibDems, your misogyny is showing.

And that's a real pity, because if there actually was a decent left leaning party that wasn't full of misogynistic fuckweasels, I'd vote for it in an instant.
