I'm blocked by Shon so can't read her tweets, but someone posted this screenshot

'I dont like...' Stupid bird brained autocorrect.

hipsterfun · 30/03/2018 19:28

A budgie badgie, just for you.

DarthArts · 30/03/2018 19:36

Even a video :-)

TerfsUp · 30/03/2018 19:37

Heh. Perhaps we can persuade MNHQ to create a budgie badgie. Grin

Hypermice · 30/03/2018 19:42

Oh thank you! I shall treasure it :)

I’m not keen on them in captivity tbh. Pet birds carry all sorts of nasty bacteria.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 30/03/2018 19:48

BirdyNews that is an excellent post!

hipsterfun that badge is awesome, we could be like a secret group with our own secret badges and some kind of silent gesture when we see each other out and about. Maybe a subtle peck like nod of the head. I'm in!

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 30/03/2018 20:12

Someone clever than me needs to do a meme showing that the Twitter bird logo is actually a cropped/ filtered/ edited picture of a randy budgie in a mirror

Xenophile · 30/03/2018 21:05

Did someone mention the glorious Mr B?

dorothyparka · 30/03/2018 22:10

The glorious Mr B you say?

noeffingidea · 30/03/2018 22:59

Love this picture of Kate Moss in David Bowie's blue Life on Mars suit

Xenophile · 30/03/2018 23:07

Dear God Dorothy, what on earth is that? Grin

dorothyparka · 30/03/2018 23:32

Xen it's Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer - he's a banjolele maestro dontcha knowGrin

Xenophile · 31/03/2018 00:16

Well, there's a thing, and no mistake!

boatyardblues · 31/03/2018 09:12

DH and I have just enjoyed MrB’s hip hop history. YouTube has given lots of quirky extroverts a platform and the variety of their output is strangely heartwarming.

Men did makeup in the 70s, too.
This is an album cover done in 1976 for The Stranglers, with the men in front heavily made up. They had a nasty reputation for violence and misogyny in their early days.

Tanith · 31/03/2018 10:31

^What's with all this fay stuff? Jane Fae, Shon Fay?
I know it's various versions of fairy but why?^
I wondered that, until AskprofessionalFekko posted earlier in the thread: “Feigh - I got it!” so I looked it up. Urban expression for ejaculation, it seems. How very edgy 🙄

AsAProfessionalFekko · 31/03/2018 10:34

I was thinking feigh as in fake!

TerfsUp · 31/03/2018 11:09

I was thinking 'fey' as in 'twee'.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 31/03/2018 11:13

Whatever - it's not a compliment!

NotTerfNorCis · 31/03/2018 11:18

I think it's to do with faeries. Jane Fae has faeries in his Twitter profile. But 'fairy' is or was an insult for a gay man, so I don't quite get the usage here.

Kneedeepinunicorns · 31/03/2018 11:24

Unfortunately every time I hear the phrase 'literal violence' with its origins, a voice in my head starts chanting 'I do believe in fairies! I do! I do!"

I have idly thought about approaching my MP and requiring that denial of fairies becomes hate speech. After all many people have a strong inner feeling they exist and identify with the fairy mythology, there is a widespread range of anecdotal evidence and fragments of dodgy science, and it's time we got past these outdated notions of facts and biology.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 31/03/2018 11:26

Tinkerbell will die if you don't say you believe on fairies!

Howyoualldoworkme · 31/03/2018 11:42

Right, now I'm more awake I put my library research hat on and I found this
Fairies, transgender men who adopted a flamboyant, “tough girl” style of femininity and who engaged in sexual relations with conventionally masculine men, became fixtures in many urban working-class and immigrant neighborhoods
in a chapter in this book, published in 1932
www.amazon.co.uk/Scarlet-Pansy-Robert-Scully/dp/0823272559/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforum-21&qid&sr

Or is that too obscure?

Tackytriceratops · 31/03/2018 11:50

The phonics of the word Fay or fae or Faye sound very female, feminine, feme.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/03/2018 11:52

Never mind Shon's dissing of MN on twitter - there is a better description in the guardian(!!) Mumsnet, a pleasing hotbed of radical feminism these days
