I'm blocked by Shon so can't read her tweets, but someone posted this screenshot

@CircleSquareCircleSquare

No Twitter won't tell someone who reported them.

BeUpStanding

"I am so bloody sick of being accused of being transphobic when I'm really fucking not "

But why? I really couldn't give a toss anymore if someone calls me "transphobic" or "bigot" or "terf". Those words have lost all meaning in (online) discourse. It's basically just a "I disagree with you but have no actual argument so I will resort to name calling instead".

The only problem with this is, it's actually libel. Imagine someone doxxing you and repeatedly outing you as a supposed "transphobe" to your employer.

Loving the work on this thread!

I never can quite get over how woefully ignorant your average woke millenial is of the fantastic parade of masculine non-conformity that was the 70s 80s and 90s.

Woke Millenial: You just can't handle people who don't look like what you expect, Grandma because you're so out of touch and crap and old! Gross! Wrong side of history! You don't understand gender expression!

Posse of gimmers on this thread: hold my beer.

I too had my nascent sexuality shaped by Adam Ant pouting in make up and frills. It was glorious.

You still with us, Shon, love? Peck peck peck.

Shon wants to erase women but is sad that nasty people on the internet don't agree with her? Just about sums up the batshitness.

Dry your eyes, Shon. Or, to be blunt, woman up!

Howyoualldoworkme · 30/03/2018 16:31

What's with all this fay stuff? Jane Fae, Shon Fay?
I know it's various versions of fairy but why?

TheGoldenBough · 30/03/2018 16:31

Adam Ant was my first crush. I styled myself after Boy George when I was 16. I always had a preference for men in make up.

I'm not a Vin Diesel fan but he does look rather attractive in a skirt... so thanks for that, MagneticMan.

And, I hate to say it, but I actually quite like the way Shon looks in that 2014 article.

How did our gender stereotypes become so, so narrow that any man who doesn't fall within the narrow parameters is not a real man and must be a woman? It's such a shame. Those beautiful, beautiful gender bending men of the 1980s/90s - just what happened?

And then I remember that some of this is not about accepting people who do not fit narrow gender stereotypes, it's about eradicating women.

Just such a shame.

Flomper · 30/03/2018 16:36

yes why are they all fay and gals?

No actual woman calls themeselves a gal.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 30/03/2018 16:58

Vin is wearing a kilt - doesn't count as a frock (as 5 million Scots will tell you)!

I did see man skirts in selfridges yesterday though.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 30/03/2018 17:15

The Kurt Cobain batsignal went off Grin

Yy to Annie Lennox & Pink.

AsAProfessionalFekko got there first but Vin is definitely wearing a Kilt Wink

Actually I wonder if anyone has done research into perceptions of skirted/kilted men in different regions. I love a man in a kilt (tries to stay calm remembering the charity climbing done in just kilts) & as a teenager my male mates knew they had a better chance of a lumber in a kilt (in general not with me!).

Bloody leather kilt I need to watch 300 now. ..

GoodyMog · 30/03/2018 17:36

I remember watching Babylon Zoo on Top of the Pops way back in 93 and I'm pretty sure that was where I discovered how much I loved GNC men.

I loved the boys I met through being a Placebo/Manics fan, so many gorgeous men wearing skirts and makeup and not giving a fuck. They were - often - less misogynistic too.

GoodyMog · 30/03/2018 17:38

*I meant '96 not '93

ErrolTheDragon · 30/03/2018 17:46

I dunno - maybe some of the problem with millennials is because wearing frocks etc is actually entirely acceptable even for blokes who are not young and beautiful nowadays. I'm thinking of Grayson Perry in his 'mother of the bride' outfit getting his OBE. It's not cutting edge, it's Establishment approved.

TheGoldenBough · 30/03/2018 17:51

He is, I know. But still not trousers and damn sexy!! Grin

LangCleg · 30/03/2018 17:52

Gosh. Conversation still happening sans Shon's lordly permission. Hope it isn't interrupting anyone's lipstick applications too frequently. It's shocking how much women have to say (and how much they enjoy themselves) when they're not on Twitter being censored by various acolytes gaming the system, isn't it? And who knew? Some of it doesn't even concern Shon. Sacrilege!

MagneticMan · 30/03/2018 18:03

Apologies for the kilt/skirt confusion. I wasn't sure if it qualified as a kilt so went with the skirt description.

hipsterfun · 30/03/2018 18:07

Yeah, Pips Bunce is about as un-rock’n’roll as it gets.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/03/2018 19:02

"But I'm special! OK maybe eleventy billion rockers did it first, but with me it's different because I'm important!"

Peck peck, whinge whinge.

I’m so happy to have created budgie related imagery that amuses you all.

I feel I need a badge or something :)

AsAProfessionalFekko · 30/03/2018 19:22

I do think like budgies. They have nasty feet and beady eyes (and poo all over the place). And they cackle.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/03/2018 19:23

We had budgies when I was little! The blue one (female) was lovely, but the male one (yellow, actually a canary I believe) was a nasty little bugger that would hide in my toy shelf and then bite tiny me when my mum sent me to fetch him.

Feels like there's a metaphor in there somewhere.
