As a trans woman, I too am a little... unsure as to the repercussions of changing the GRA so drastically..

Would you welcome my signature also? I think there needs to be discussion and if someone can link me to a good and active MN thread on this I would be happy to read through as I think my knowledge on the matter is a bit wooly but what I know has me on the fence leaning towards the side of signing this petition..

@NatLuc welcome. Anyone can sign this petition - it is just asking for open debate, rather than decisions to be made "behind closed doors" so to speak. There are so many threads on it that are all great reads, with lots of articulate posters, including other trans posters, but I'll see if I can find you some.

@NatLuc here is the initial thread on the petition, which starts off er... robust... but is full of debate. A critical voice is RatRolyPoly who posts very usefully on what the issues are from the trans lobby side, I think:

Another interesting thread, started by a trans poster who is uneasy at the proposed changes and the effect of the trans lobbyists:

and another where the OP of the thread is pro-self-ID, and the subsequent posters do a good job (for the most part) of laying out the objections to proposed changes to the law. I’d be happy with 10,898 & therefore being 30 up when @BlackeyedSusan does the goodnight round-up. The extra 2 to 10,900 would be twice yesterday’s +16 so that would be awesome too.

Nobody should spoil it by making it an uneven number like 10,901, obviously... Wink

NatLuc There is plenty Brew which seems to be either tea or coffee - since it is virtual it can be what you want Grin. There is always Gin and Wine though and you can drink them all day. Blush

I usually try and base it on the closest post to midnight. so sometimes take other peoples posts for the math. 10 868 last night. so far +29 today. I shall hope for one or three more... still got to eat yet so not bedtime yet.

Welcome NatLuc. Both women and trans people have a lot to be worried about should self-ID happen. Like others have said, we just want an honest, open and truthful discussion. We don’t want hard fought for rights to be lost.

I'm 10898

Was telling my Mum about this last week, she was horrified. She had no idea. I only found out through Mumsnet. More needs to be done to spread the word. It's very difficult though, I don't want to be labelled as transphobic. Difficult for me to share elsewhere, I have trans and gender fluid team mates.
