Labour lose 3 points - ALL women leaving the party

"The 3-point fall in the Labour share [in You Gov poll] is entirely explained by a 6-point fall among women (from 46% to 40%)"

CON 43 (+1)
LAB 39 (-3)
LD 8 (+2)

@jenniferjames says "Oh fucking hell. I broke the Labour party. :-( "

I've got very mixed feelings. On the one hand - go everyone! They'll have to take notice - surely?

But - Jesus Christ let's not let the Tories have another term.

But - we have to stick up for ourselves don't we.

Starting to think the people who say the rapid rise in TRA ideology is being fuelled by those who stand to benefit from a divided left might have a point. Sad

Self Id hurts more than cuts? They both hurt women. Both as bad. Perhaps a new party on the trans issue is the best solution. I'd hate for lots of women to not vote or spoil their ballot, effectively letting other people choose for them.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 11/02/2018 11:27

Me too Queen

athingthateveryoneneeds · 11/02/2018 11:27

I live in a very strong Labour area. I doubt I'll ever come across a canvasser.

I'm all for joining The Gender Critical Party. I'll even post leaflets through doors!

Cooroo · 11/02/2018 11:29

I have had 2 emails from the Labour Party today. I am not a member. One was from Emily Thornberry, the other from the party asking me to donate today and show solidarity with women and Labour's campaign to take the next steps towards equality.

I replied to both, pointing out that I wouldn't consider donating or joining while their stance on self ID and women only shortlists stays as it is.

Then I wondered why all of a sudden I've been targeted? Could it be because I donated to Jennifer James' campaign? Anyone else?

Floisme · 11/02/2018 11:30

And I don't need a lecture on what spoiling your ballot means either. It's why I have never even contemplated it before in 40-odd years of voting. But this is how angry I am.

SamPotatoes · 11/02/2018 11:31

I got an email last night from my local labour party urging me to move from a supporter to full member.

Thanks to this thread I was motivated to write rather a long email explaining exactly why that would not happen and that if they persisted in not just ignoring women on the issue but actively harassing those who raised concerns then they could wave goodbye to my vote.

boatyardblues · 11/02/2018 11:34

Ditto. I’m feeling a bit more chipper today than I have in a while, but I’m furious about this shit and its not getting better. I think the political parties are way off base with this. The lack of loud public debate is because most people have no idea what is proposed. When they get it, they are aghast.

tumbletastic · 11/02/2018 11:35

Funniest video I have seen and completely the mission statement for any single issue party for women x

Popchyk · 11/02/2018 11:38

Cooroo,

Can you ask them where they got your email details from? I really hope that neither GoFundMe nor JJ is passing these details on.

I used a fake email on the crowdfunder because I feared something like this.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 11/02/2018 11:38

really pisses me off to see women here on mn saying they will vote for tories purely because of one issue (trans). Great for you if you belong to the lucky few who haven't been nearly destroyed by years of real term cuts

I won't vote Tory but there is no way I nor any of my family, who were active Labour members, will vote Labour whilst Corbyn is in charge.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 11/02/2018 11:39

Then I wondered why all of a sudden I've been targeted? Could it be because I donated to Jennifer James' campaign? Anyone else?

If it is then that is a big data protection issue.

Twofishfingers · 11/02/2018 11:40

Great fab thanks for that. We will have another term of Conservatives in charge, fucking up our education system and healthcare. Thanks a bunch. All for a good cause. Hmm

Everyonematters · 11/02/2018 11:42

Or Labour could turn sane and make themselves a party women who want basic rights can choose to vote for?

AnotherCassandra · 11/02/2018 11:43

What's the point of the NHS when vulnerable women can't access it because deluded stubble blokes in a dress are healthcare professionals and in the wards with women as patients, it's unsafe.

Cooroo · 11/02/2018 11:45

Popchyk - I don't know. I donated in my name, which is unique in the world, and my email is closely related to it. Any search engine would come up with my email instantly. But it could well be coincidence!

AnotherCassandra · 11/02/2018 11:45

I should add, the deluded man thinks he is an actual woman as do the NHS, it's unsafe.

OvaHere · 11/02/2018 11:46

I donated twice to the crowdfunder in my own name with my main email address which also contains my name. I've not had any of the spam mail or political emails that others have mentioned in this or other threads.

Just wanted to add that for balance because I know we are all a bit jumpy around this issue currently.

SunsetBeetch · 11/02/2018 11:48

I received this email from the Labour party today. I am not and never have been a member and that's not going to change! Think I'll reply telling them why.

"This week we celebrated 100 years since some women were first granted the vote.

We've taken our rosettes — to celebrate how far we've come — and our placards — to show that the fight is not over, and created these beautiful pin badges to mark this historic occasion.

Everyone who makes a suggested donation of £9 or more towards our fighting funds will be sent one of these commemorative badges to wear with pride.

XX, donate today and show solidarity with women and Labour's campaign to take the next steps towards equality.

Rosette

Donate £9

Both badges

Donate £15

Placard

Donate £9

They're only available until Sunday 18 February, so be quick and don't miss out.

We're proud that Labour's campaigns are funded by thousands of small donations from people like you. As we head towards key local elections in May, we rely on your support to make sure that our local teams are kitted out with everything they need to return Labour victories across the UK.

Fantastic timing. I've just received this from the Labour Party:

"This week we celebrated 100 years since some women were first granted the vote.

I am mailing them back to ask if they are having a laugh.

Floisme · 11/02/2018 11:51

I think the 'how dare you even think of this' attitude possibly annoys me even more than self ID.

How about the Labour party asks itself how the hell they've managed to get themselves into a situation where voters like me are deserting them?

How dare they take my support for granted like this?
How dare they try and guilt trip me into voting for them?
How dare they silence dissent?

YTho · 11/02/2018 11:51

Twoforus, apparently it's all for the benefit of women..

SunsetBeetch · 11/02/2018 11:52

Oh snap CH8!

YTho · 11/02/2018 11:52

Sorry that was for twofishfingers
