I've reached trans peak

I have always been supportive of people living their lives how they need to. I have a lovely colleague who is a transwoman and DD's best and most brilliant teacher at school was a transman.

I don't think I've changed my opinion that people with actual gender dysmorphia should be helped to transition. I also think that people should be able to wear what they want and look like what they want.

I've scanned a few threads in this section and found myself agreeing more and more with the comments about "self identifying" but the Rose McGowan clip has definitely made me reach peak trans. These people aren't women and they're not even transwomen, they're men in dresses. I have nothing against a man wearing a dress but a man wearing a dress, trying to look like a particular type of stereotypical woman and screaming that he's a woman is just a man screaming at a woman.

They dress like their idea of a woman, they say that they are women but the male privilege to be heard the loudest and the longest belies what they're saying.

Thanks for reading if you have. I just wanted to share my enlightenment without hijacking anyone else's thread (because I'm a woman so I'm polite!) but I've a feeling that the paragraphs I've written in will disappear when I post.

Funny how everything I'm reading is about how lesbians should be having sex with TIMs. I've not found anything yet suggesting that hetero men should be. The transwoman I know is in a relationship with a man and the transman who taught my daughter is in a relationship with a woman.

TIMs are straight men.

Ah Groovey you are young.

50K posts #peaktrans in and it's ffs and wtf

Halebeke425 · 03/02/2018 23:24

I'm not white straight or privileged am I allowed to have an opinion?

The Trans movement is only being taken so seriously because mostly white men want to do it. I for one won't sit down and be quiet while people who have lived most of their lives enjoying male privilege tell me what it means to be a woman.

India Willoughby had a very public go at hetero singer Genuwine on Celebrity Big Brother for not saying he'd date a transwoman.

Male supremacy is the epitome of privilege. Women who hang on to those mens coat tails can only fool themselves for so long.

That sounds like the fabulous Magdalen Berns.

I'm completely mystified why so many transwomen who are absolutely totally women, aren't saying anything about their right to have relationships with heterosexual men. Isn't that who the majority of real women (like transwomen are) prefer to have relationships with.

Maybe it’s because, hmm, transwomen are... men. Grin

It gets even more puzzling on lesbian dating sites. Transwomen lesbians looking for lesbians, but, unaccountably, saying 'no trans-women please'. So only a certain type of lesbian.

Yes, thats quite interesting isn't it. Transwomen are women, except when transwomen are seeking women as sexual partners, in which case transwomen are not women as they want actual women Grin

Well past surprise now with this. It's so painful.

Thanks. Trying to process that has given me a migraine Grin

Coyoacan · 04/02/2018 04:58

I totally get and agree with the need to defend women's only spaces, etc. but the thing that really gets me is telling children that you can choose what sex you are, leading them into a world of life-long unnecessary medication and surgery

Lol

Could you be any more obvious?!

SophoclesTheFox · 04/02/2018 07:32

It’s always straight to the ageism when a trans ally pitches up here, isn’t it?

They might as well be saying “God, Mum, you’re SO embarrassing”.

Anyway, my feminism never needs to intersect with penis, because that would make it bullshit, so I will continue to go on my merry, second wave way, centring women.

Ps, welcome to Mount Peak Trans, OP! It’s a slog getting here, but my word what a clear view of the world you get from the top Grin

boatyardblues · 04/02/2018 07:40

Good catch Rick.

I’ve noticed that people have started using the #istandwithrose hashtag again over the last 48 hours to show support for Rose McGowan - it was used initially during the Weinstein revelations last year.

LangCleg · 04/02/2018 08:05

literally why is it up to any of you to decide a supposed boundary for trans people?
