Here's my post replying to Moth
Thats an interesting article moth. Best not on the board or MRAs would be all over it!
I was wondering today, hopefully, if the news about darts getting rid of the girls means the overton window is shifting and maybe p0rn will become less acceptable?
If not all this hooha about F1 girls and the presidents club is just tinkering on the edges.

Waddle - I always smile when I see your username but I love penguins!

no nanny
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44353321

the main thing for me is that it's so unfair on other passengers - you couldn't possibly not help if someone else's child was upset or ill or something, so much as she says "cabin crew will get us" it's just causing disruption to others. As well as potential upset to the DC but okay, I take her point everyone's going to parent differently....but this does seem weird. It also smacks of "I can't bear to sit with my DC for the journey" in my view.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/06/2018 13:14

My feeling is that once they're about secondary age - by which time travelling solo on public transport to get to school is normal - it'd probably be fine for 2 sibs together. Kids of that age are perfectly capable of civilised behaviour.

The Times had an article I found more entertaining today though

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/alastair-campbell-gets-on-air-lesson-in-feminism-from-his-daughter-r2whgdpns?shareToken=c1ab9f374b75ce16838e0ce8829e2fba

LighthouseSouth · 04/06/2018 13:35

Errol "Kids of that age are perfectly capable of civilised behaviour. "

of course. But we're all at risk of feeling unwell etc so that seems poor parenting to me.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 04/06/2018 15:59

At that age I dont thing it's bad parenting (although on a long flight it would be pretty rotten i think) so much as bad passenger-ing (yes I will make up words) other passengers & staff shouldnt have to deal with any issues regarding their children.

lighthouse i love penguins too Smile although it was actually because I had just been tiring out my children with a game of hop like a bunny etc etc

Errol ha! Love the Campbell article

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 04/06/2018 18:38

Its all getting a bit weird on many of the recent threads...

How is everyone on here?

LighthouseSouth · 04/06/2018 21:15

Is it getting weird?

I'm well, but I did some quite challenging yoga this evening so I'm wondering what the effect will be tomorrow!!

Already too tired to concentrate on the suffragette show on BBC so recording it.

Ereshkigal · 04/06/2018 21:55

I'm recording it too and will watch it when I can give it my full attention. There's a great one on YouTube too which I'm working my way through.

Re weirdness: Lots of new visitors!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 04/06/2018 22:24

erish

Yeah, and i dipped into a few posy threads

Everyone seemed to be having a go!!

And people that you thought were 'normal' saying weird things

Grin i am not going into any details!!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 04/06/2018 22:29

Plenty of weird!

I am feeling confused! I have a reply from my MSP about something that is exactly opposite to what he (rather smugly!) assured me it would be. I will pass on to badger who was compiling responses but I feel like i need a good chat about it & all my feminists are you lot!

Anyway... anyone here know about police procedures? Scottish - from arrest to court.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 04/06/2018 22:31

Oh god Rufus yes people you felt like you 'knew' on here behaving differently than erm expected Confused

LighthouseSouth · 04/06/2018 22:34

Erm, has anyone been hacked? Or v similar usernames been started?

I lost the plot on the Posie threads way back.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 04/06/2018 22:39

waddle

Exactly!!

lighthouse Ive not posted for a while, the threads seem to get very angry very quickly

Might just be me...i am a sensitive flower

Melamin · 04/06/2018 22:56

I thought that too. It was if they had turned into different people Confused. Hope not to experience that again.

LighthouseSouth · 04/06/2018 23:38

Is this in the feminist board?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 05/06/2018 13:08

I think so lighthouse

Though to be honest most of those thread weres like whack a mole

So ive kinda lost track of where they were

ErrolTheDragon · 05/06/2018 13:36

Me too ... the atmosphere seemed to get, febrile I think is the word I want.

I think I may be due a break from MN - I tend to start spending too long keeping up with lots of threads and not enough on real life.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 05/06/2018 13:55

The brigading is tiresome - small minded games for small minds.

Still I and others are very resourceful;)

Hugs x

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 05/06/2018 14:14

I will say that ive found some of these internet 'debate' terms very interesting

Like 'gishing'

And when someone types it on a thread im like 'fuck yeah!! I've seen this'

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/06/2018 14:49

Oh god Rufus yes people you felt like you 'knew' on here behaving differently than erm expected

I missed that I think ...

Don't understand the Posie drama.

But there are a lot of Goady Fuckers out there at the moment.

LighthouseSouth · 05/06/2018 15:50

What is the Posie drama, is she all right, I hope so.

Now off to google "gishing" and "brigading"....!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 05/06/2018 16:24

I did report one of the threads

And then every thread i looked at seemed to turn into another posy thread

I'm exaggerating but not be much

Waddlelikeapenguin · 05/06/2018 17:02

Yes I think they are seeing posy as the chink in the armour they are looking too close there is a whole schiltron of us if they'd just zoom out

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/06/2018 20:01

I'm still trying to work out what she was alleged to have said and why it was so inflammatory.

LighthouseSouth · 05/06/2018 20:05

Why would Posie be seen as a weak spot? She's been superb.

Unrelated rant....I feel as if it's constant cleaning round here. It's because we live on a busy road, so early summer and constant window open means constant dust....

Maybe we should stick sheets over bookcases and sofa!!
