Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

You don't have to be feminist to post here, but it helps...

I've noticed that whenever a 'non-feminist' view is brought up, there are occasionally some posts along the lines of 'this is a feminist board, why come here if you aren't...', etc.

Genuine question - is this a feminist board, or a board about feminism? Obviously the majority of posters are feminist, but I'm not sure whether that is because feminists (surprise surprise) like discussing feminism, or because it is seen as a feminist 'safe haven'?

Don't think claig is necessarily defending sm's arguments, rather she is defending against personal attacks.

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 21:56

Yes SM 'deemed unsubstantiated'. Because - it would be unsubstantiated.

There are differences between facts and opinions.

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 21:58

i suppose i asked for it.being antfeminist and all that

Conkers allegedly emit some kind of vapour that deters spiders but it's a bit early in the season for them now. Horse chestnuts haven't been doing well for years due to a virus but conker trees (which are an entirely different genus) aren't affected at all

unwillingness to reproduce links at will doesnt equal untrue
just means cant be arsed trying to recall a posters name to search a specific thread to glean a specific thread. to offer irrefutable proof

dont recall who said what.so recall jsit and themes in a thread

ChristinedePizan · 30/08/2011 22:02

ooh have a lovely holiday sAf :) I really don't like spiders but I've got much better at them since I've moved to the country and have just had to deal with them. Plus the extension is lower than the air bricks in the main house. I am tempted to sit in front of the air bricks with a flame thrower but I'm scared of setting fire to the joists

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 22:02

trying to fill post up about conkers is indeed bonkers as conkers

AyeRobot · 30/08/2011 22:03

But the poor spiders! They might be a bit annoying with all the mess they create, but they're harmless really.

As for bad seasons for stuff - not good for brambles round here but great for wild raspberries. Apples have had a poor showing too,

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 22:04

now it is really interesting.purposefully discussing conkers or somesuch
conkers who'd have thought them so invigorating to so many

sadandwary · 30/08/2011 22:05

for those with small dc....dont let small dc put conkers in theyre mouths...they are toxic and can cause tummy upsets.

sparky

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 22:05

this is an oldie goldie fill the thread tactic
but conkers, well thats a clever deviation
grade up from posting .

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 22:06

can i have some references and links about conkers and choking hazards
can you prove that

ChristinedePizan · 30/08/2011 22:07

Yes Aye, I've found that too. The blackberries have been a bit mean (and sour) this year - I think it's due to all the rain we've had over the summer. Same with apples. The crop is really poor - not much sun and miserable temperatures.

SinicalSal · 30/08/2011 22:07

Well it just means you won't be believed so pissing in the wind, imo.

I have a rotary line which is like a spider down town high rise tokyo - I am starting to wibble a bit putting DD's clothes on her. What if a spider creeps out the neck of her tshirt?

claig · 30/08/2011 22:07

The thread on which dittany has posted, and is part of the reason why she no longer posts is filled with conker posts.

sadandwary · 30/08/2011 22:08

no...im being serious SM...conkers are toxic to small dc [genuine]

SinicalSal · 30/08/2011 22:08

Blackberries not out yet, here.

scottishmummy · 30/08/2011 22:08

links and previous threads to that
have you been drinking

claig · 30/08/2011 22:09

'have you been drinking?'

no, but I may well start

SybilBeddows · 30/08/2011 22:10

I honestly don't understand what everyone has against spiders. They just scuttle around the house being harmless and eating flies, don't they?
