Apparently.

I am a little saddened that a forum mostly used by women, has decided that the feminist boards are the most frightening of the forum.

Why do we feel that is? What can be done to prevent people from feeling so intimidated that they are too scared t post?

If you read any MRA sites, they think that all feminists are Marxists.

Thank you Smile

It came out of a "Yorkshire Film Titles" game played on a long trip. Chucklesome.

Oh I know, I am just jaded because all the socialist men I've ever met have been crap in bed.

I realise that doesn't mean all socialist men are crap lovers.

Ignore me. IABU.

I used to consider myself a feminist but after reading some (not all, not tarring everyone with the same brush, honest) of the threads on this board I don't any more.

Apparently aspects of my lifestyle let down other women and this board is where I feel most scathingly judged by others. So for me this board is the most frightening Sad

HerBeX · 28/02/2011 14:39

Yes I know and I was going to compare their choice of restaurants compared to Tory menz as well and thought the better of it in case I get excommunicated from the feminist boards Grin

Am very wrong and childish and promise to conduct more extensive research in order to debunk any new myths I may have inadvertently created. Grin

MaxiCosy, I don't think I see any scathing judgment on here, unless it is from trolls. Picking apart the systems underlying choices people make, perhaps. What aspects do you feel are being judged on?

There are a few socialist feminists around mn

Or a few feminist socialists...

Tortington · 28/02/2011 14:51

oh no dittany - not you too!

my world is upsidedown.

MaxiCosy · 28/02/2011 14:51

I won;t say which arguments/posters have bothered me on here because it will out my name changes.

I'm married, SAHM, joint bank accounts, use 'Mrs' etc I could go on.

Prolesworth, you're right though, views differ such a lot.

I think feminists are far less judgemental of other women's choices, than most non-feminists tbh.

We are analysing from a political POV, not an individual one.

MaxiCosy · 28/02/2011 15:06

No, I didn't think those things prevented me from being a feminist but after several threads I was made to reconsider. Being told I was letting the side down upset me though. I should add that these were not recent threads I'm talking about but I thought I'd add my tuppence worth when I saw the title of this thread.

I know lots of you are very lovely, but the feminist board is the only part of MN that has ever upset me, there are some very direct MNetters on here who feel so passionately about their beliefs that I don't think they necessarily realise how rude they are at times. I felt judged, as I said before. Anyway, feel better that is off my chest.

Someone said waaaaay back that sometimes some of the stuff said on this board can challenge your whole way of thinking and I think that can feel really uncomfortable. And when people believe passionately in something then they tend to be pretty forthright about it.

But I also know a lot of us disagree over some issues, however that doesn't dilute the fundamental desire to explore how patriarchy impacts on us.

Hullygully · 28/02/2011 15:19

The problem with putting socialism first is that all the men want the women to make the tea. Fact.
