Apparently.

I am a little saddened that a forum mostly used by women, has decided that the feminist boards are the most frightening of the forum.

Why do we feel that is? What can be done to prevent people from feeling so intimidated that they are too scared t post?

aviatrix well not really Blush i just mean that some women like to think their being discriminated against when their not just to kick up a bit of a fuss! thats just the impression i get, some people just want something to moan at.

Goblinchild · 27/02/2011 14:23

'where is the love?'

Hully, if not love then at least a sense of fairness and honesty is here. People who have never agreed with dittany came out of the shadows to say 'WTF?' Smile

Glamour It might surprise you to know that more men complain to the Equal Rights Comission than do women. That's right. Men moan more about discrimination than women do even though that discrimination is in their heads

nemofucker · 27/02/2011 14:32

I understand the 'you' as in 'everyone' and as a personal address. It is difficult to tell which is which on the internet.

I decide what is feminist for me. YOU decide what is feminist for you, YOU decide what is part of your personal feminist beliefs.

I have great respect for both dittany and Grace and I can't believe you are rucking on here! I would have thought you both had a massive amount that you agreed on, and we are here arguing over words! Just words! You or YOU!

I have no concerns about anyone having a go at me as I usually get ignored completely Wink Grin

sakura · 27/02/2011 14:36

lol nemo at "I usually get ignored completely". It can feel like that sometimes. You just have to SHOUT REALLY LOUD
But it's not a 50/50 argument. Grace should not have made up shit about dittany by saying she (dittany of all peopel!) supports rape myths, when nothing could be further from the truth.

Glamour · 27/02/2011 14:36

sakura that actually dosent surprise me, although it is very interesting as ive come across more discimination towards men than i have towards women.

Glamour, you probably only notice the discrimination against men (although I'll need examples, because if you're talking about rubbishy paid jobs that women are supposed to do such are carework and what have you then it's hardly "discrimination" that women get chosen over men)

TBH, until 50% of parliamentary seats are held by women, and 50% of the country's resources are in women's hands, as opposed to being in men's hands, then and only then will I be able to take arguments about discrimination against men seriously,

sakura · 27/02/2011 14:42

I know, what does that mean? "I didn't mean it was just dittany who supports rape myths, I believe you all do."
It keeps getting more ridiculous and everyone here knows it.

nemofucker · 27/02/2011 14:42

I'll add that I think as a woman who has been raped I myself have supported rape myths. I wouldn't want to rip a hole in anyone who came on a forum saying 'but... it's not really rape is it, if x,y,z' as I would bear that in mind.

Unless it was posted by MisogynistBloke83 Grin

Oh, I have supported rape myths by accident here myself nemo . NObody ripped a hole into me. they very articulately (and politely, looking back) pointed out to me where I was wrong.

Do you think this board seems 'scary' because you get trolled so much? I saw some of the links Hmm and noticed those obvious stirring.

If I had dipped into this thread part way through and didn't know Dittany - not personally, just from her posts over the years - I might not have realised what I was looking at. I might have found it aggressive.

SalandersBro · 27/02/2011 16:58

vesuvia - am fine seeing other poeple's point of veiw. No idea why you are asking. But there you are.

I don't see how having 50-50 representation on boards or in government will help women much.

Pretty much all the people I know men and women, who have reached the top have been driven, ambitious and ruthless. I think it is a bit Animal Farm swap one lot of leaders for a similar bunch.

And I don't think women with those characteristics will be on the look out to help other women.
