Tiny lump on labia majora 8 months inside

Bex4567 · 27/01/2026 14:33

I have a small hard lump on my labia majora on the inside near hair ridge not the hair on the outside.

It's been there for about 8 months skin coloured feels like a hard lump under skin.
Can see it slightly on surface but mainly under skin.

Only sore if I squeeze it repeatedly.
Worried as I have persistent hpv on smear

Anyone else had this not changed in size or colour ...
GP said cyst but not convinced due to being there so long .

It probably is a cyst. They can stick around for years, unfortunately.

You could go and get a second opinion though.

I agree it's probably a wee cyst, have you tried a super hot flannel on it to see if it helps raise it to the fur face.

Edit: my fucking god this is tablet, I promise I wrote surface! 😀

Beekman · 27/01/2026 20:09

I’ve had a few of these over the years. They shell out eventually.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/01/2026 20:11

I had one for over a year once OP but no harm getting a second opinion.

Yes I’ve got one now that’s been there longer than that. It’s a blocked follicle. If I try and squeeze it hurts for days so I just leave it alone. Gynae didn’t mention it at all and she had a good look everywhere!

Hi, like everyone else, it does sound like a cyst - the more common explanation is usually the case, but, I would urge you to get this checked out, not with a GP but with a gynaecologist.

The reason for me saying this is that you mention you have persistent HPV. HPV is a risk factor for vulval intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN). Just as HPV (depending on the strain of HPV) can result in cervical changes (CIN) it can also cause changes to the vulva, but this is less common.

I must stress that I’m not a medical expert, but my friend also has persistent HPV and believed her two ‘lumps’ were benign Bartholin cysts until they were finally noticed at her latest Colposcopy appointment by the nurse and later biopsies confirmed VIN3.

She did need minor surgery to remove them, but recovered well. Like I say, I’m no expert and I don’t want to cause you any panic, but for your own peace of mind, please make an appointment to get this checked out by a gynaecologist.

pinktube · 29/01/2026 11:23

I had this and then I woke up about 2 weeks ago and it must have popped in the night. Like you not painful and nothing to really see. Not reappeared or had further problems since; try not to stress

MiserableMrsMopp · 29/01/2026 11:31

Get it checked. In all likelihood it's a cyst or a blocked follicle.

My story however is my mothers. She had a lump which she was embarrassed to get checked, so didn't. It turned out to be cancerous and had metastasised, eventually causing her death.

I'm sure yours is fine. But better safe than sorry.

Sounds more like health anxiety to me op, the more you post. This will literally be something and nothing - honestly.

I had one for five years before it finally burst!

Beekman · 29/01/2026 14:38

Mine is on the labia majora about half way down.

OP, you’re never going to rest until you get checked out so by all means do so. I used to have terrible health anxiety but my mind was always put at rest by having stuff checked out. Unfortunately some people with HA still have it after they have seen a doctor but it may help.
