What should your vagina look like?

I don’t know who on earth I can ask
this to but I’m worried my vagina isn’t normal.

So if I look with a mirror , I have the labia bit and then inside is pink fleshy bit with ridges in it. It’s not a black hole. It’s like a pink squishy thing covering the whole area with ridges in. It’s not popping out or outside the labia lip bit. It’s inside- is this what it’s meant to look like? I never looked before and have since had 2 children.

Please help I feel weird . I will attach a picture I found on the internet. So sorry for this weird question.

Not a clue. Honestly wouldn't be able to pick mine out of a line up.

Not to be flippant, but it works, I've squeezed several babies out of it, no complaints from husband, doesn't cause me any pain or discomfort, and so I'm not really concerned about the optics.

If you're worried about anything, you should probably see the GP.

ChaosHol1 · 31/10/2024 22:17

Do you mean you're worried about what your actual vagina, internally, looks like? I mean I've never looked internally at my vagina. I know what my vulva and labia look like but haven't looked internally. I'm sure if it looks like the picture, as it has ridges too, it is likely normal? Have you had a smear since the birth of your youngest child or a 6 week check?

ChaosHol1 · 31/10/2024 22:20

Or are you talking about your labia minora? Your vulva is made up of your labia majora - the outer fleshy labia and the labia minora - which can be completely within the outer labia or some women's protrude out?

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 31/10/2024 22:22

Sounds like mine, not that I’ve really looked but I’ve got a bit of a prolapse so the pink squishy bit is that. It’s just what some vulvas/vaginas look like after squeezing out babies and getting older. It still works fine so I don’t much care tbh.
What concerns you about yours? If you have and discomfort you could go to a women’s health clinic and talk to someone about what worries you.

MarigoldSpider · 31/10/2024 22:22

Sounds normal to me

boomsi · 31/10/2024 22:27

I think I know what you're on about, and I think mine is the same.

No idea if it's meant to look like that or not. I've got an absolutely terrible looking vagina so I do my best not to look at it anymore!!

So it’s where your vaginal opening is and then instead of seeing a black hole (I imagine the pink bit was set much higher up) , I see a pink ribbed fleshy thing covering it. It just looks 😳 but I’ve no idea what it looked like pre kids and I’ve never looked until today because I cut my vaginal lip when shaving so looked to see that and then saw my inner bit. But it doesn’t look like what I thought it would and I’ve no idea what it should look like or if it’s normal etc oh and googling it doesn’t help as it brings porn searches up 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also thank you for the responses as it’s such a weird conversation. It’s something I couldn’t ask my friends and google isn’t showing what I want it to when I search. So yes thank you for not mocking me that I’ve asked this !

How the fuck are you looking up inside your vagina? Unless you're a contortionist that's pretty much impossible

That's why I posted links to non-porn vulva photos, absolutely fascinating to see the variations.

I honestly doubt you'd be the first if you did 😆

Supperlite · 31/10/2024 22:38

The vagina isn’t a yawning black hole. When looking at your vulva you should see the entrance to the vagina and the vaginal canal closed. Think about when you use a tampon, you insert it and can feel your vaginal walls around your finger. It’s not got a structure that keeps it open so you won’t see a hole unless you put a speculum up it to hold it open.

Josette77 · 31/10/2024 22:39

I know exactly what you mean, I have it too. It freaked me out when I saw. It's like a fleshy jagged mouth.

No clue what it is, but I have it.

Also women should all be checking their Vulvas for changes. We should all know what ours look like. There are cancers that occur down there and the earlier they are caught the better.

CandyLeBonBon · 31/10/2024 22:40

@Lalaminilala I might've had a go when I was 12 out of curiosity, but unless I had a good reasons to inspect my vagina I can't really think of any reason to resort to mirrors and uncomfortable poses to discuss my vaginal ridges. Is there a reason you're worried op?

Aren't those your vagina rugae op?

Limpet1 · 31/10/2024 22:41

Hey OP, not a Dr but just wanted to share with you that this is quite a common occurance for women who have had children via natural birth. It does sound like you have a slight prolapse. The ridged area is usually vaginal wall so if it’s covering your hole it could me a sign of prolapse. It’s really common but if you’re worried see your GP.

I have the exact same and mine is a prolapse after 2nd baby.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 31/10/2024 22:42

Do you mean you think you can see your cervix at the entrance of your vagina? Or some sort of prolapse? Is there pressure?

It's our vaginal opening. The entrance is closed. Glad I found that! Lol
