WTH fell out of my vagina? (gross photo)

Seriously baffled.

Period due to start around Monday. Had some moderate cramps for about twenty minutes, took some ibuprofen. Problem solved.

About two hours later felt a weird sensation and this monstrosity slipped out. No pain.

Measures about 1.5" across and 3/4" wide and high. It looked mucousy to me but DH decide to cut into it (ew) and it's fleshy. It's not possible it is embryonic tissue.

Is it a decidual cast? It doesn't quite look like the ones on Google and there wasn't really any blood.

It's a cast, I had a few during my IVF cycles after taking the egg collection hormones. They are gross, but harmless --and fucking painful'

Rtmhwales · 01/07/2023 22:03

@Mummadeze @BankBanque

I haven't used tampons in over a year and it's a meaty texture so it can't be that (thankfully as that would be horrific by this point).

I'm so sorry about your twins OP.

I lost some retained products in the April(this was years ago)and I'd given birth in the previous September and I'd had to have a massive operation after a natural birth because nearly the whole of the placenta was retained so sadly you can still have retained products quite a while after, it's quite rare thankfully but I do know one other person,a friend that had the same thing happen as me.

I'm wondering about this, too, but it seemed unlikely given I've had several scans since, my HCG has been checked weekly as part of my bloods panel and has been at zero since the end of May. Plus I had the world's clottiest period at the beginning of June, I would assume everything had come out.

But maybe not. I wonder if products can be retained despite zero HCG and not showing up on a scan?

What is the black thing next to it?

pollymere · 01/07/2023 22:08

It just looks like a chonk of lining/tissue. My DH has kindly examined weird things for me over the years and this is one of the more common ones. It could also be a load of vaginal fluid too. If it smells funny get checked for BV.

fuckmyuteruslining · 01/07/2023 22:16

Goodness our uterus can do some weird things! Whatever it is, it's better out than in I think op. Sorry for your loss.

Beanus · 01/07/2023 22:17

Hi OP - my 21 year old DD had exactly this - investigated and told just normal lining of womb shedding and nothing to be worried about. She has v irregular periods if this helps. I was beside myself when she showed me and thought it was a miscarriage but apparently v normal and nothing to worry about x

I need to know what operating tools he used as I'm envisioning him in the kitchen with a knife and fork 🤣

DustyLee123 · 01/07/2023 22:20

Yes, decidual cast

Abreezeintheglade · 01/07/2023 22:31

I’ve passed a DC and Fibroid. It looks like a fibroid to me.

TaylorSwiftFan · 01/07/2023 22:32

Wishing you luck with IVF Flowers

😂 I was applauding the husband but the knife and fork image makes me feel funny. <shivers>

OP, sorry for your losses. Does ‘about to start an IVF cycle’ mean you’re not yet doing any hormones at all? Because the Google tells me DCs are common in:

  • Women undergoing fertility treatments, using injections of Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG).

I’m sure you’ll be grand, whatever it is. 🙂

A tampon would stink Envy , I don't think your DH would go near it .
(And Envy isn't envy in this case wink] )

KnitMePurlMe · 01/07/2023 22:37

@JinglingSpringbells I passed a fibroid but it had been embolised which is why it came out. Looked nothing like that though - it looked like a smooth chicken breast 😬

TokyoStories · 01/07/2023 22:43

So sorry for your recent losses, OP.

The picture looks like a fibroid to me.

andHelenknowsimmiserablenow · 01/07/2023 22:49

I have never heard of a decidual cast before! I have learned something new tonight. Good luck with the IVF OP, sorry for your losses.

Looblou72 · 01/07/2023 22:51

I’m 50 and never heard of this so googled it as you do…the first listing was from the website health line and it said it happens to “people who menstruate” so I’m assuming they mean women as in an adult female with a uterus….

newrubylane · 01/07/2023 22:51

Had something similar but much smaller recently. Late period, negative test, then on day 63 I got what seemed to be a normal period. The day after that period stopped, a 50p piece sized blob (perhaps slightly larger, but smaller than this) of something pink and whiteish landed in the loo. Definitely fleshy/clot like or similar in texture, not just discharge. That was 41 days ago now, and my period is late again. Still testing negative. Following this chat with interest...

UltraProcessedPerson · 01/07/2023 22:56

I can’t help, but wow.

Oneborneverydecade · 01/07/2023 23:13

So sorry for your loss OP. Wishing you all the very best for a happy and healthy pregnancy in the future

Starlightstarbright2 · 01/07/2023 23:20

Appleofmyeye2023 · 01/07/2023 21:10

Yep, me too 🙄

I googled it too . It will have ramped up most googled list today

jaychops · 01/07/2023 23:23

This reminds me of when I passed a huge blood clot a few days post birth and my husband kindly retrieved it from a nappy bag he'd balanced on a domino's pizza box to take out with the rubbish, to show the midwife when she arrived!

Can't help with what it is OP but I wish you all the luck with your IVF.

Zonder · 01/07/2023 23:28

Well, every day is a school day!

AuntiesWoodenLeg · 01/07/2023 23:45

Hi OP,

I had something similar many years ago, and I got a doctor's appointment straight away and showed it to her. It was sent off for analysis and turned out to be a polyp, which would have required surgery to remove if it hadn't broken off itself.

Definitely worth taking to your GP to find out for definite.

Angrymum22 · 01/07/2023 23:54

To me it looks like a blood clot that has been retained and has started to break down. Blood clots start out like dark red jelly but as the clot matures it becomes quite fibrous and looses its colour.
I’m a dentist so tend to see plenty of maturing clots in extraction sockets. Patients tend to panic when they have a look and see a yellowy brown lump of tissue with fraud edges.
Blood clots can be retained at the top of your vagina, you’ve recently had a period si it could be left over from that. It only takes a couple of days for a clot to look like the one you’ve posted.
