WTH fell out of my vagina? (gross photo)

Seriously baffled.

Period due to start around Monday. Had some moderate cramps for about twenty minutes, took some ibuprofen. Problem solved.

About two hours later felt a weird sensation and this monstrosity slipped out. No pain.

Measures about 1.5" across and 3/4" wide and high. It looked mucousy to me but DH decide to cut into it (ew) and it's fleshy. It's not possible it is embryonic tissue.

Is it a decidual cast? It doesn't quite look like the ones on Google and there wasn't really any blood.

This looks very similar in texture to something I had years ago. They tested it and said it was a clump of uterus lining that had not broken down.

I think you gave birth to an alien.

No idea sorry, but love the fact you and DH had a full investigation couple goals 🤍! Totally irrelevant but puts me in mind of the time I found my first grey pube….immediately plucked it and went storming down the stairs to show DH 😂 l hope all is well with IVF and love the relationship you’re in!

I’m so sorry for your losses OP. Fertility treatment is a long and isolating path. I wish you best with your IVF X

pregnancyrollercoaster · 02/07/2023 01:17

Looks like a DC OP and massive kudos to your partner for dissecting it! I hope you hear back from your clinic soon and sending you all the luck in the world for your IVF cycle 💖

smilesup · 02/07/2023 01:29

I am so sorry about your twins. It must be so hard for you. I work in the fertility field and unless you have a medical reason for wanting to go ahead with the IVF soon I would wait a few months for things to settle down. Obviously this advice is only if there isn't a significant time pressure to try again now. If not give your body and mind a bit of time.

savethatkitty · 02/07/2023 02:27

You didn't accidentally forget about a tampon?

reelcat · 02/07/2023 08:38

So sorry for the loss of your twins. I hope your IVF an go ahead as planned 💐

I’m 50 and never heard of this so googled it as you do…the first listing was from the website health line and it said it happens to “people who menstruate” so I’m assuming they mean women as in an adult female with a uterus….

I read an article on there a few weeks ago after googling vulval pain I'd been experiencing during my period. Healthline assured me this is normal for "people with vaginas" 🙄

HermioneWeasley · 02/07/2023 13:30

@marblesthecat that article was behind the times. It’s not inclusive to call them “vaginas” any more, they’re “bonus holes” (according to the supposed cervical cancer charity Jo’s Trust)

There isn't really any time pressure to try again other than the age gap is widening between DS(5) and any subsequent baby.

Both my OBGYN and my fertility doctor are happy for us to try again on this cycle though if we feel ready, and we do. This may have thrown a wrench into things though.

I promised I'd come back and update once I'd spoken to the fertility doctor and I did today. Wasn't very enlightening though unfortunately!

TBH he seemed baffled that I'm baffled that something random fell out of my vagina and thought it was a totally non issue. He didn't even want to see our gross pictures. It was a bit deflating.

He said it's likely one of two things - a decidual cast, in which we will need to wait until the next cycle to do another frozen transfer or a piece of retained tissue that had no blood supply to it accounting for why the HCG tests have been zero for well over a month now. In which case if my period starts this week then they will do a further scan to confirm everything is clear. What is confusing is I've had four scans since giving birth mid April and they've detected nothing.

And I would've thought retained tissue from mid April would be rancid by now, even if there was no blood supply? And/or there would've been an infection?

So now it's a waiting game to see if my period starts and if it does, what discoveries they make of my (mystical) uterine cavity.

Blimey that doctor doesn't sound like he's got a very good bedside manner!

Sorry you didn't get any answers.

Tinysoxx · 03/07/2023 13:40

It’s frustrating but I suppose the positive is at least it happened when it did so it’s ‘cleared’ up to create the best conditions for when you are ready next cycle.

Hope you get good news soon. In my case (detailed in a previous post) my HCG levels were still really high but they scanned me and said they would go down rapidly as I had passed everything so I was sent home. I definitely had not.
