WTH fell out of my vagina? (gross photo)

Seriously baffled.

Period due to start around Monday. Had some moderate cramps for about twenty minutes, took some ibuprofen. Problem solved.

About two hours later felt a weird sensation and this monstrosity slipped out. No pain.

Measures about 1.5" across and 3/4" wide and high. It looked mucousy to me but DH decide to cut into it (ew) and it's fleshy. It's not possible it is embryonic tissue.

Is it a decidual cast? It doesn't quite look like the ones on Google and there wasn't really any blood.

I've called and emailed the clinic to let them know/ask an opinion but as it's the weekend and a major holiday where I live (abroad), they tend to only call back emergencies and I doubt that this qualifies as one as I'm not in any pain. They're an amazing clinic so wouldn't charge or start a cycle until they know what's going on thankfully.

Was just hoping someone on MN might have an idea in the interim for me to Google.

I'll have to let DH know that so many are impressed at his grossness skills. I was cringing throughout the process. But all in the name of science I suppose.

I've never heard of a DC before! Would it not be red though, and bigger?!

That's my thought process, too. On Google they appear to be red, bloody and the size of your palm.

This is smaller albeit large enough to be startling falling out of your body. Only a little bit of blood and none when it passed.

The mystery continues.

Hope the clinic can identify it by the picture.

ClaraBourne · 01/07/2023 19:58

@Rtmhwales just what I read on the internet!

heldinadream · 01/07/2023 20:04

Seriously top bloke your husband. Bet he comes up trumps in an emergency! 😂

reelcat · 01/07/2023 20:05

When I had this it was retained tissue from a miscarriage about 2 months after the actual miscarriage. Same shape, size and texture it was so weird

3AndStopping · 01/07/2023 20:08

I don’t know but I’m invested! Do update op!

SophieStew · 01/07/2023 20:08

I’m not convinced that’s big enough to be a decidual cast.

JinglingSpringbells · 01/07/2023 20:10

Fibroids can't fall out.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 01/07/2023 20:10

It’s not a polyp, I had one and it was very rounded, smooth, whitish but veiny.

Capitalismwantsyou · 01/07/2023 20:11

Interesting! Something like this happened to me a few years ago. Maybe it's not exactly rare, just rare that someone tells their GP about it.

SmallbutMighty1 · 01/07/2023 20:11

I think I'm the only one horrified he wanted to cut into it and smell it 🤢

DisforDarkChocolate · 01/07/2023 20:12

Oh you definitely married a keeper.

Sunnydaysaredefhere · 01/07/2023 20:13

Is your name Sigourney op?

It can't be a miscarriage or embryonic tissue.

I suffer from recurrent miscarriages so that would naturally be my first thought. Sorry you've also suffered through that.

Unfortunately I had my twins stillborn in April so was monitored extensively for the month after that and had no retained tissue. Last month I have a horrific postpartum period with massive clots. All pregnancy tests have been negative throughout too and I have a weekly HCG blood test.

Totally baffled, grossed out and yet intrigued, all at the same time :-/

Not sure what to make of your hubby though lol good that you are close enough that you can talk to him about stuff like that though.
Good luck with your IVF hope it goes well.

Grin Thanks for the chuckle, that really tickled me.

We have been calling it the vagina monster but I suppose we could start identifying it as the vagina alien instead.

The human body is weird and slightly terrifying!

No, they are more often beige and fleshy. And they don’t have to be large.

Starlightstarbright2 · 01/07/2023 20:17

Posting to read update …. Hopefully your IVF can go ahead as planned

Sunshineishere1988 · 01/07/2023 20:18

Never heard of this before but will be googling. Im sure I will be corrected if wrong, but Fibroids don’t just come out like that do they? Please correct away if wrong! 😀

Fibroids can't fall out.

They totally can, I had a patient that passed their Fibroids, one was really big.
I vote fibroid.

Oxborn · 01/07/2023 20:19

Sorry to hear about your twins

Sunshineishere1988 · 01/07/2023 20:20

Never knew this…we learn something new from MN every day! 😀

OldBeller · 01/07/2023 20:22

I had something like this happen to me about twenty years ago and it has always puzzled me. It was a similar colour and texture too.
