I am in SO much pain. Iv never been in so much pain. I’m shivering, my groin aches, I’m freezing, I have about 20 blisters, some are liquidy and some have gone white. I originally thought it was thrush but obviously not..

I can’t wee, can’t walk, can’t sit, can’t close my legs.

I started anti viral meds yesterday but they seem to be constantly popping up and I feel like Iv got one coming at the side of my mouth now too!
I’m on codeine as well. Which is slightly helping until it doesn’t.

I’m so so so upset.
I can’t even wee in the shower because it stings so much. On day 3 now.

Have you tried running a cool bath and weeing in that?
Its super important not to spread them so practice impeccable hand hygiene if you need to touch around the area.
Are you able to take ibuprofen alongside the codeine?

ABitOfAShitShow · 05/02/2022 17:54

How awful that you’re suffering so much. Flowers

I’m not really sure what to suggest. I know some people take lysine but I expect that’s preventative. Did they give you lidocaine gel?

There was a thread a while back where people were advising the OP. It stuck in my head so I’ll find it for you and post a link.

Unless it’s just a handhold you’re after?

SameToo · 05/02/2022 17:58

Sounds awful @Slavetolove. Do you have anyone there who can help out with things? They say the first flair up is the worst. I remember a thread recently about it too. Will have a look.

SameToo · 05/02/2022 18:03

Oh sorry, bit late!

Slavetolove · 05/02/2022 18:35

Thank you all. I actually can’t believe how painful it is, Iv not had anything like this since I had an epsiotomy! It’s so itchy as well, like everywhere and I’m trying not to to touch.

I can’t believe I thought it was thrush. The first spot that popped up is now white? Where as the others are liquid blisters but seem to be popping. I can’t believe how fast they are popping up!

I had my first outbreak of genital herpes 20 years ago last month. Are you on aciclovir? You have to start taking them as soon as you feel a tingle (like that cold sore tingle if you get them).

Judging by the amount of blisters you have already then their effect of the anti virals will be minimal.

You're going to have to ride this out I'm afraid. My first outbreak I was bed ridden and felt absolutely shit.

You need to get a renewable prescription for the anti virals and have them in the house ready for that tell tale tingle / stinging when you wee / wanting to rub with loo paper over and over again when you wipe.

It's awful but it does get better / ease with each outbreak. Some people get it once then never again, others get recurrent infections.

If you are planning on having children then you need to let your midwife know as it can cause foetal issues if you have a vaginal delivery during an outbreak. I had to have a section due to having an outbreak in the month before my due date.

Slavetolove · 05/02/2022 19:32

Yeah I started taking them yesterday lunch time. I only seem to have had a few then and now so many have popped up, literally! I can’t believe how awful I feel. like proper shivering/cold/ache s wry where

I'm sorry to hear you feel so grotty, hopefully the anti virals will kick in soon. Be kind to yourself, rest, drink plenty (the less acidic your wee the better).

As someone upthread said, if weeing stings too much try filling a shallow bath to sit in while you wee. It does help with the sting. Gently dab yourself dry rather than wiping as wiping irritates.

Glitterb · 05/02/2022 20:50

@Slavetolove sorry you are in so much pain OP! The antivirals will kick in but maybe in a few days unfortunately.
I would recommend lots of baths, use a hairdryer after a shower or bath, try not to wear any tight clothes and use an ice pack to sooth any really sore areas!

Slavetolove · 05/02/2022 21:13

Thank you, the shower hurts so much.

Iv looked and I have a few white ulcers near my urethra and around my clit. No wonder it hurts SO much. 😭😭😭

Are you able to stay off work? Have a look at the thread linked as I’m sure some longtime sufferers posted coping methods on there.

HeyBlaby · 05/02/2022 22:22

Have you got acyclovir? This should help reduce the duration.

Nottsure · 05/02/2022 22:27

@Slavetolove

Omg don’t tell me that 😩
Sorry I really didn’t want to worry you it’s just people don’t realise how serious it can be in rare cases

So sorry if I scared you I’m sure you’ll be ok but just please if you feel any worse get medical help x

Slavetolove · 06/02/2022 00:06

Yes I’m on acylovir, started yesterday. Bought online from Lloyds and cost a fortune!

I can’t believe how unwell I fell. The pain is constant, it’s like someone is sat with a lighter on my bits constantly. I have so many ulcers around my clit area! No wonder it burns to wee. They are all white and round. Some are leaking a white thick liquid now as well.

OP posts:
ihateliningup · 06/02/2022 00:16

Oh gosh op that sounds awful. I get them but not actually in my clit area. More around and up my butt crack.

I use propovir on them as well as take antivirals. It's the only thing that actually helps heal them and take the pain away.

I don't know about the thick fluid though, you may want to get that checked. Mine usually burst clear and then it's gone.

Slavetolove · 06/02/2022 04:20

Iv woken up to majorly intense itching down there!! It’s taking allll my
Control not not to itch

OP posts:
MissSmiley · 06/02/2022 07:35

So you bought the antivirals online? Have you seen a healthcare professional or self diagnosed?

Slavetolove · 06/02/2022 08:50

It was via the Lloyds pharmacy online doctor, I had to send photos in.

I’m in so much pain.

It seems to be all over my scar tissue as well (I had an epsiotomy that went wrong and I ended up needing repair surgery.) the pain I’m feeling atm is like the huge infection I contracted in my stitches after my first child.

It’s so so so swollen, I have ordered some lysine tablets and a portable bidet bottle thing.

OP posts:
ihateliningup · 06/02/2022 11:41

Op you may have an infection. You really should get checked out. They are open blisters don't forget and can get infected.

They do itch, try zinc on them, like nappy rash cream.

Slavetolove · 06/02/2022 11:57

I have an appointment at urgent care today at 2 just to be checked out after ringing 111.

Codeine is barely touching it, I’m
Taking the antiviral tablets, iv got a water bottle thing to help me wee, I have just started on llysine. It’s so itchy. The only thing that semi helps is holding a towel there/rubbing it slightly with the towel!

This is fucking horrific. How can someone pass it on to someone without even a second thought.
