I am in SO much pain. Iv never been in so much pain. I’m shivering, my groin aches, I’m freezing, I have about 20 blisters, some are liquidy and some have gone white. I originally thought it was thrush but obviously not..

I can’t wee, can’t walk, can’t sit, can’t close my legs.

I started anti viral meds yesterday but they seem to be constantly popping up and I feel like Iv got one coming at the side of my mouth now too!
I’m on codeine as well. Which is slightly helping until it doesn’t.

I’m so so so upset.
I can’t even wee in the shower because it stings so much. On day 3 now.

You have my sympathy op. First outbreak is awful.

But surely there is no way to know for sure who gave it to you?
It can lay dormant for years....

mcdog · 08/02/2022 10:18

Oh god, I really feel for you. Has a medical professional had a look and diagnosed formally? I'm only asking as thick white liquid is an unusual presentation.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/02/2022 10:19

You poor thing OP, sounds horrendous. Lidocaine 5% is about £5 or 6,sound like you were sold a brand rather than a big standard own make sort.

Slavetolove · 08/02/2022 10:51

Thanks all. It’s deffo herpes, I have one big one that’s around 20p size and lots of little ones. All seem to be “shredding” now. Like a jelly liquid/pus?

I rang the sexual health clinic yesterday and they were rubbish!! Advised salt baths and the anti virals I’m on.

I rang the doctor this morning and they have gave me a prescription for the cream. Do I need anti virals forever? No one seems to answer that when Iv rang!

I had an epsitotomy and repair surgery after my first child, I have quite bad ptsd from the time because it was the most scary/painful/horrific time of my life! My stitches ended up breaking down and I was stuck on bed rest for 5 months. The muscle would ache and I couldn’t walk. It was so bad that i had to have a planned section for second child

It’s the exact same now! I can’t wak, it aches so much, the scar tissue hurts. I have alot on the actual scar tissue on the perineum area

They seem to be all ulcers now. I’m trying to air it out a lot and Iv been doing salt rinses as I don’t have a bath.

This is the cream I bought

I don’t think you have genital herpes from what you describe.
You need to see a Doctor ASAP so contact your GP surgery and request an emergency appointment.

Slavetolove · 08/02/2022 11:18

Iv noticed my anus feels bruised too? Or like I constantly need a poo but there’s nothing there 😩

Glitterb · 08/02/2022 11:20

You may need antivirals forever, however you may never get an outbreak again. I always have some in the house in case however any further outbreaks have been barely non existent 3 years on.

The only time mine wasn’t horrendously painful was when I had shower/bath and dried with a hairdryer (on cold setting) it just gave a relief. If you don’t have to go anywhere today then use an ice pack as well!

Inthesameboatatmo · 08/02/2022 11:42

The way you are describing the fluid and sores I'm no expert but could it not be herpes? Have you had it swabbed and tested ? .

Lastoftheenglishroses · 08/02/2022 18:52

I’m surprised the GU clinic were crap; they should have had you in asap to swab to confirm it is herpes and also the type (1 or 2). It’s important to know your options for long term anti-viral use depending on type/frequency of outbreaks going forward.

The ulcers do leak and ‘pop’, I remember there being a fair bit of fluid with my first OB. The entire area will likely feel painful and achy, it affects the entires bunch of nerves down there. Ongoing herpetic nerve pain can affect your vulva, buttocks, thighs and further afield unfortunately.

My initial OB was probably the worst physical state and mental anguish I’ve experienced but it is manageable and it won’t happen to this degree again.

Slavetolove · 09/02/2022 10:00

Day 8 and I’m in agony still. Nothing im doing seems to be making a difference. The area between my butt cheeks is the most painful but I can’t get the angle to see lol. I’m so swollen it’s making me look deformed!
I seem to have some green discharge between my butt but I’m so swollen and fat that I can’t see where it’s coming from!

OP I’m not an expert but I agree with a PP who said go back to the gum clinic or GP as it may not be herpes?? No idea what it could be but has it been confirmed it is?

I hope you’re okay 😔

Teaforme123 · 09/02/2022 11:10

Oh no OP! Definitely go back this sounds horrendous. Green discharge sounds like a possible infection too! It sounds like it's getting worse.

RB68 · 09/02/2022 11:17

I would second zinc - I used sudocrem, but yes the first episode can be horrific.

Longer term diet helps alot and keeping immune system healthy. I found standard nurofen works best pain killer wise but yes was like you first time. Weeing in a shallow bath is a good tip as is drinking plenty as it dilutes your wee. I found using sudocrem before having a wee meant it also acted as a barrier to the sting whilst not completely getting rid of it.

Do hand wash thoroughly and keep seperate towels etc.

An ice pack on the nether regions can also help so long as you avoid freezer burn

RB68 · 09/02/2022 11:19

green - infection which can happen you need GP asap.

It took along time for mine to settle down (3 years) but diet, antivirals (and long term daily still on now) and self care got me there in the end

I know its an emotional rollercoaster as well, but believe me GPs have seen it all

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/02/2022 11:20

Lots of nerve endings at the base of spine/ butt cheeks ,not surprised it's agony. I agree you need to be seen as a matter of urgency and I'd go to urgent care asap especially with with green discharge.

Slavetolove · 09/02/2022 13:42

I feel like I’m healing then I take a huge step back!! How much longer?! 😩 in so much pain still. Plus my leg hurts today, like a crampy/aching feeling, and my bottom. It feels so bruised 😞

I was exactly the same, I got swollen glands in my groin and it was so painful to wear pants. Have you got enough Antivirals to take another dose after yours run out? It’s usually bad as the sores are healing as the skin feels so tight.
If you are worried then please go back to your local GUM clinic or doctors.

CoastalWave · 09/02/2022 14:08

Get yourself to the GUM clinic asap. They're amazing.

Please don't just be sitting in pain on your own.

Slavetolove · 09/02/2022 15:12

I’m going to ring another clinic this afternoon, I haven’t got enough antivirals; as Iv been taking double the amount 🙈 I will see if I can get more. The doctor yesterday gave me some numbing cream after the one I bought ran our but it was absolutely rubbish and tiny! It’s all gone already 🙄

OP posts:
Sunnyday321 · 10/02/2022 08:25

Hope it's easing for you.

Slavetolove · 10/02/2022 16:00

The main one seems to be healing but they have popped up all on my epsiotomy scar tissue and it’s bringing up my ptsd massively. I don’t understand how it’s going to heal internally. It’s so stingy exactly how it was when I had the failed epsiotomy. I’m so fed up. I’m supposed to be back at work on Monday and going London on Friday Thursday 🥺

OP posts:
Glitterb · 10/02/2022 16:16

Did you manage to get some more antivirals to take? You may need more than one dose.
Mine took around two weeks to heal and I really didn’t think it was ever going to get better, but it did eventually. Keep taking painkillers and keeping the area clean and dry. Honestly ice packs wrapped in a tea towel were my saviour!

LadyLolaRuben · 10/02/2022 16:20

If you have a wee in a shallow warm bath, sit at one end with ur knees bent up towards your chin. As you wee, push with your feet so your bum travels along the bottom of the bath until your legs are straight. That way you're pushing your body away from the pee as it comes out so it doesn't touch the affected area and sting

mcdog · 10/02/2022 19:42

Has any medical professional laid eyes on the infection or swabbed it???
