I am in SO much pain. Iv never been in so much pain. I’m shivering, my groin aches, I’m freezing, I have about 20 blisters, some are liquidy and some have gone white. I originally thought it was thrush but obviously not..

I can’t wee, can’t walk, can’t sit, can’t close my legs.

I started anti viral meds yesterday but they seem to be constantly popping up and I feel like Iv got one coming at the side of my mouth now too!
I’m on codeine as well. Which is slightly helping until it doesn’t.

I’m so so so upset.
I can’t even wee in the shower because it stings so much. On day 3 now.

Vagasil is 2% lidocaine and about a fiver from Tesco. Agree with others that you should go back to the doc or clinic. Flowers

RachHen · 10/02/2022 21:18

@mcdog

Has any medical professional laid eyes on the infection or swabbed it???
Agree
Slavetolove · 10/02/2022 23:01

No but I’m off tomorrow to an appointment at the sti clinic. I’m shitting it.

I don’t know what else it could be? I have all the symptoms of it being it. Iv had 2 lots of antivirals now so they are confused why it would still be hurting. Its been around 8 days now.

Has any mum had an episiotomy and/or has scar tissue down there?

I haven’t really looked down below for the last 12 years since I had a repair surgery after a failed episiotomy. I do have abit of scar tissue/a slight hole/cut near my bum.

My OB seems to be on that area atm and I’m struggling mentally.

After the birth of my first child my stitches failed and I ended up with a huge infection and bedridden for 5 months. I couldn’t walk, go to the toilet or anything. It was just constant salt baths and airing it out in bed. I ended up with PTSD from it which meant my next child was born via planned section.

This is giving me flash backs and I’m struggling. Iv just looked down there for the first time and the scar tissue is covered in ulcers and is so swollen.

It won’t do any more damage to the scar will it? 😩

If they were external only I would be demanding to have them frozen off hurts like fuck while happening but so much relief afterwards.
Don't think they can do that internally which would also mean (in my not medical opinion) that you'd need antivirals as well.

ladydimitrescu · 11/02/2022 01:13

Gosh op I feel so bad for you.
My first outbreak was horrific - I managed to give them to myself sort of. I have HSV1 which is the cold sore strain, and Dh caught it from me via a cold sore, and then gave me oral sex whilst he had a cold sore coming up - and there we go. Awful, and agony.
Mine were around my anus and clit as well and I couldn't move it wee! My gp gave me some instillagel which is a numbing gel they use to insert catheters, I had to use it anytime I needed the toilet. I also felt incredibly poorly and flu like and the pain was absolutely unreal. I really hope you feel better soon. Ask for the gel!

PyongyangKipperbang · 11/02/2022 01:59

I agree that the first outbreak is usually the worst. I havent had it but I thought I had (turned out to be a massive Bartholins cycst) and my friend was very clear that unless I felt like I was constantly "being stabbed in the cunt" (her words) then it probably wasnt. She was right. She has said that every outbreak since (few) have been bearable.

If I was being a bitch I would ask for an anon post on a local FB page to out the filthy bastard who did this, I know my local Mums page would cheerfully do it, just very carefully worded Wink

It should be swabbed to establish what it is. Could it be an allergic reaction? Have you used any new products recently like washing powder. I know you can become suddenly allergic to something you've used for years but I'd think about new stuff first. I'd wonder about shingles but that tends to affect one side of the body. I got it on my bikini area on one side once. Shingles is only a possibility though if you've had chicken pox in the past. Good luck with the clinic.

Littlepixie85 · 11/02/2022 03:08

This sounds awful, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had something similar about 8 years ago that was misdiagnosed as herpes but was actually stress related (think mouth ulcers but in the genitals) it was only once they started healing that the doctor at the STI clinic realised it wasn't herpes. They were brilliant there, the GP was a waste of time. They gave me local anaesthetic gel to put on the area which helped as it numbed it, like you I could barely walk/sit down and weeing was agony, would recommend. Hope you get some answers and some better medication

Lastoftheenglishroses · 11/02/2022 06:59

@PyongyangKipperbang Using language like ‘filthy bastard’ does nothing to make anyone with HSV feel better; almost 80% of the population carries it, just most asymptotically. Sure some people knowingly pass it on, however the biggest proportion don’t and those suffering with the mental anguish of living with this virus for life don’t need to be branded as ‘unclean’. Given your friend has it I thought you would be more understanding with your language.

@Slavetolove good luck at your appointment, they will swab so make sure and can do immediate bacterial swabs which they should test under the microscope when you’re there incase it’s anything else. Herpes swabs take a week or so to come back and to confirm the type.

Slavetolove · 11/02/2022 07:31

Thanks all!

I’m having really bad achey legs atm, and electric shock feelings in my clit area! It feels really sensitive.

I’m so fed up and run down. I need to get a train and Uber to hospital this morning and I really can’t be arsed but obviously will. I’m so nervous. I can’t really wash properly down there either, just with water so it doesn’t smell the best! What’s the best stuff to use? 😩

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 11/02/2022 07:33

I'd continue with water and salt maybe.

FruminariaBandersnatcheosum · 11/02/2022 07:39

If the antivirals aren't touching it, it might not be herpes. Let us know how you get on at the GUM clinic OP but it could be infected with bacteria thrush. Severe thrush feels like bruising and as you have said it feels bruised, my money is on .....not herpes anyway.

ThirdElephant · 11/02/2022 07:48

Buy a sitz pan. It's a little.pan you stick on the toilet and fill with lukewarm water. If baths help then the pan definitely will- it was a godsend when I had stitches down there.

Slavetolove · 11/02/2022 08:36

Thanks all

I don’t know what I would have done without this thread!

Here’s day 9/10? I can’t remember what day I’m on lol

Herpes usually lies dormant for years. It’s highly unlikely it was caught from the latest one (if it even is herpes). People need to stop peddling stupid ideas about naming and shaming.

Slavetolove · 11/02/2022 09:34

I’m hoping for a finger prick test to see iif I have antibodies

Doesn't it usually lie dormant after the initial flare-up?
ABitOfAShitShow · 11/02/2022 14:28

@ThirdElephant Nope. I mean, it does that too for a lot of people but no - medical advice is very clear that you don’t know who you caught it off because so many people have it without knowing (because they’ve never had an outbreak or are yet to have one).

Dillydollydingdong · 11/02/2022 14:38

Blimey! I had it many years ago (at least, that's what the locum doctor said it was!). Just a few itchy patches, and it never came back. No pain, no ulcers or discharge. Not helpful, I know, but I think I agree with fruminaria. Are the doctors absolutely sure it's herpes? It sounds horrendous.

What op has is 💯 herpes, mine were the exact same. They are incredibly painful. It's very likely that's not what you had.

Op has made it clear this is what it is, I don't think several questioning it is helpful at this point. The swabs will come back that's it's HSV and whether it's type 1 or 2.

I hope you're feeling better op.
