2WW for breast clinic referral - anyone care to join me?

Referred to breast clinic yesterday after finally acknowledging I wasn't imagining the indent on my left boob. Normally I'm very sanguine and unflappy but this has me completely distracted and tearful. I've banned myself from Google (easy now as I've read everything ever published about breast indents over the last 24 hours) but have no idea how I'm going to avoid going bonkers while I wait. I don't want to talk about it IRL till I know if there's anything to talk about, but think I need an outlet. Anyone else in the same boat?

Thank you Thingy that's lovely of you!
Now back to the cocktails and sunloungers with you. I hope lumps and bumps are far from your mind.

Well, I wasn't expecting this! All clear on mammogram and ultrasound, no lumps felt or seen. I've been discharged with orders to come back if anything changes. Surprised and relieved doesn't cover it!

Thanks for all the wisdom and support in here over the last 2 weeks. Maybe the thread could keep going for others who are in the same situation - my thoughts go out to you.

I just logged on to read your update, I was hoping for the best and fearing the worst. Yipppppeeeeeeee - that is absolutely amazing! I am so happy for you! Hope you and your dh have had an amazing day celebrating his birthday and your good news!!!!

CherryPavlova · 26/10/2018 20:29

OneMoreForExtra I’m delighted you won’t be joining the club! Excellent way to start the weekend.

notapizzaeater · 26/10/2018 22:15

Fantastic news xx

MegBusset · 26/10/2018 22:27

Great news Onemore. And hope you have a lovely holiday Thingy

OneMoreForExtra · 26/10/2018 23:26

MegBusset you're up Monday aren't you? Good luck, and I hope you have lots of distraction lined up for the WE.

Relieved to say that I'm fine following my appointment. My pain and lumpiness are hormonal and nothing to worry about. Apparently I should stop wearing underwired bras - as an E cup that could be interesting Confused

Hope Thingy is having a fab holiday.

CherryPavlova · 29/10/2018 17:00

More good news. So pleased.

OneMoreForExtra · 29/10/2018 19:50

MegBusset that's excellent news! Fantastic!

Although as a fellow large-norked person i feel your pain about giving up underwired bras. Perhaps a new fitting might be an alternative? Keeping it all in perspective of course- I was angsting about having to stop HRT, while being fully aware that I'd take menopause grottiness over the big C any day!

Really pleased you're well

Meg I am so happy for you 😄😄😄

Holiday is good thank you - in the Uk so no sun loungers - it’s freezing! Keeping very busy so all is good. Only one more week and I get all my tests and hopefully some idea if I’m in the clear

Glad to hear the good news so far. I've been in this position twice. First time I was late 30s and it turned out to be a fibroadenoma and I had it ultra sounded and core biopsied but left it in. i'm now late 40s and it's still there but has shrunk considerably. It was rubbery and moved/slipped under fingers when pressed, was slightly tender before period.
Then earlier this year found a similar lump in other breast but couldn't feel a definite outline unlike the first one and that worried me(plus mum had BC) and with my age creeping up I had a blind panic and had to wait the full 2 weeks. I convinced myself of the worst. GP wasn't the most reassuring. Had mammogram and then ultrasound where they said it was a cyst and drained it there and then while I watched it disappear on the screen. Best feeling ever. Good luck thingy

OneMoreForExtra · 30/10/2018 20:35

Blind panic sounds about right Cambalamb. I'm realising quite how destabilising the last 2 weeks have been- got my all clear on Friday and expected to ace this week, catching up an all the things I've been too distracted to manage. Instead I've been borderline ineffective at work and binge eating idiotically. I've finally realised it's related to being shit scared for 10 days and cutting myself some slack.

I am prone to worry and panic and ALWAYS jump straight to worst case scenario. I was crazy worried the first week then eerily calm the second. I was deliriously happy after and walked around like I was on air and nothing would ever bring me down again, the small stuff would no longer be sweated. Lasted a couple of weeks before I was moaning about nothing . Affects us all differently. Be kind to yourself One

Vi37 · 30/10/2018 21:02

Hi thought I’d join your thread if that’s ok? Just waiting for my letter for referral for the breast clinic and I must say I’m absolutely sh*#%+!ng myself. Currently on diazepam to help me keep calm. 😥

Cambalamb · 30/10/2018 21:12

Hi V137, I waited for my letter for 2 days before I realised I was supposed to phone a number to make an appointment. Just double check with your surgery .

Cambalamb · 30/10/2018 21:13

Also I found various historic threads on here that really helped. Lots of ladies with weird and unusual lumps that they were sure were bad news but turned out to be ok.

Vi37 · 30/10/2018 21:28

Thank you, if I don’t have a letter by the time the post comes tomorrow I’ll phone my surgery. I can’t wait much longer. X

Vi37 · 31/10/2018 16:09

Sorry I seemed to have stopped your thread!

MegBusset · 31/10/2018 18:29

Hi Vi35, did you get your letter today? I found the waiting at each stage was hardest - took me three weeks just to get a GP appointment in the first place!

Hope you're managing to keep (relatively!) calm.

MegBusset · 31/10/2018 18:30

Vi37 sorry Blush

CherryPavlova · 31/10/2018 19:01

Waiting is the hardest thing of all. You need to cling on to the fact most lumps and changes are benign. Once on the treadmill it all happens quickly though.

OneMoreForExtra · 31/10/2018 20:18

Waves to Vi37. I Hope you've got an appointment letter - that's step one!

OP posts:
Vi37 · 31/10/2018 20:40

Well I’ve got my letter, it’s an e referral one and it won’t let me make an appointment, it says I’ve to contact my gp so that’s just great, I’m no wiser. Won’t accept the booking reference number. 😞

Cambalamb · 31/10/2018 20:47

Oh no V, have you googled the local breast clinic? Find their number and phone tomorrow. Good luck
