Gutted for the Welsh girls. They came so close.

DuncinToffee · 11/10/2022 20:58

Right at the end of extra time, that is tough to take.

God itv4 is terrible quality on the visuals :( the picture is jumpy.. and It took me ten minutes to find it on virgin.

I am enjoying watching WSL on TV. Thanks BBC!

I am a bit irritated that Tottenham Vs Man U game that was meant to be on 10 September has still not been rearranged. Not have we received any information about it. Tottenham and Man U are massive enterprises, surely they should have sorted something out by now? It's been 5 weeks. It is quite bad this is taking so long. And also, whilst the tickets weren't massively expensive, we have still paid for something we haven't 'received'. I don't want to cancel on the hope that it might be rearranged to a date, time and location I can go to, but I am getting a bit annoyed now...

Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has retained the Women's Ballon d'Or

Great performance from Arsenal Women against a tough and stubborn Liverpool side.
League battles shaping up nicely.
@DuncinToffee
Good for Everton. Things seem to be falling into place for you. I thought a couple of seasons ago when you brought in Gauvin and a couple of others that the club would kick on and challenge the big three (as it was then), much as Man U have done, but it didn't quite work out despite some excellent results. There seems to be a change this season, fans seem more positive. What do you put it down to?

DuncinToffee · 24/10/2022 09:24

I don't really know what to put it down to, probably the right investment and recruitment and there being far more exposure. There is a better feeling around the club as a whole which helps.

It's good to see the gap between the top and bottom narrowing.

I'm currently sitting in Wetherspoons waiting to head to the Emirates. Not exactly wheelchair friendly. Sitting in a different seat at the Emirates tonight for the Zurich game so will see what view I get

Just popping back (with a new name). Enjoyed last night’s match. I missed why both teams had to travel to Spain for it…?? Football doesn’t really ‘get’ climate change does it?!

Anyway, some lovely goals! Great to see the team expanding. They all work so well together.

England have so much depth of talent, nice to see some newbies out there. I really wish Sarina Wiegman would give Beth Mead a rest, though. She looks tired to me.

Interesting study on the effects of football kit being designed for men

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-63636201
Sports scientists are highlighting the lack of football kit designed for women, saying the use of boots and balls created for male players could be putting them at higher risk of injury.

Knee-ligament injuries in women are causing concern at an elite level.

Despite some progress, the researchers say no large boot manufacturer has yet invested in a design to suit women.

BellaAmorosa · 16/11/2022 17:21

Thanks, @DuncinToffee
Lots and lots in that article. The message is borne out by the ridiculous numbers of women footballers who are currently unavailable due to injury. I'm happy that it is at least being addressed now. Men and women are different physiologically and biomechanically and that has to be reflected in all aspects of sport where there is a significant difference. But you will get all sorts of people (both men and women) saying that it's patronising or sexist (how can bone density or Q-angle measurement be sexist??) or "special treatment" to make different provisions for women. Does my head in!

IcaMorgan · 17/11/2022 15:19

Is anyone going to the Arsenal v Man U match at the Emirates on sat?

I managed to get tickets for England v Brazil on 6th April at Wembley so looking forward to that

DuncinToffee · 19/11/2022 20:54

Narrow defeat against Man City, we haven't closed the gap yet but getting closer.

Hard defeat to take for you Ica, those final 5 minutes.

@DuncinToffee it would have helped if the ref didn’t let them get away with constantly trying to take Beth Mead out (and finally succeeding). That 3rd goal wouldn’t have happened if the ref had stopped play after Beth Mead was taken out so badly they actually bought a stretcher round for her. The ref wouldn’t let any other player check on Beth and told the medics to walk round instead of running across the pitch as they normally do. Man Utd should have had so many yellow cards and they were taking out our players and then getting a free kick for it.
