Football has come home!

To build on the success of the Lionesses and the increasing interest in women's football, we are starting a brand new thread to continue celebrating the beautiful game Football

Enjoy!

Yes it is a real shame and imo unnecessary.

Well at least the players coming back from international duty or managing niggles from preseason will get a few more days.
Personally, I think her maj would have wanted the matches to go ahead. I believe she was a genuine fan of the game. And there could have been singing of the national anthem beforehand and lovely tributes at half-time...
I suspect the FA are doing this to ward off criticism.

BellaAmorosa · 09/09/2022 19:45

Football Supporters Association feel the same:

I would have been covering the opening weekend of the WSL today so wanted to point you in the direction of some of the supporters clubs in the North West. If you loved Euro 2022 & want to get involved in the domestic game, please do contact them. Here’s a thread 🧵👇🏻

I have decided they should rearrange this weekends game to the big stadiums when the men have their break before the world cup, so early November. Any issues with that?

Anyone got and idea when we'll know. This week? Next week?

In a way, I was quite glad they cancelled today and I enjoyed watching the proclamation this morning. But I would also have loved to have got a chance to show my respect at the match.

And also, I was really really looking forward to the football Sad

IcaMorgan · 16/09/2022 13:24

I’m off to the Arsenal v Brighton match at Meadow Park tonight. If anyone else is there and fancies saying hello if they see me I will be the one in a purple and black wheelchair with blonde hair and purple glasses (will also have a short, loud, Scottish woman with me).

All I need now is to find out what gate I have to go in

BellaAmorosa · 16/09/2022 14:41

Enjoy yourself, @IcaMorgan
I won't be there - next week is my first one of the season. I'll be watching on the FAplayer app.

It's going to be so weird having cheered on all the girls at the Euros, to go back to hating them if they play for rival teams!😜

Was a great game and Arsenal won 4-0.

Will be back on Tue for the Ajax game

DuncinToffee · 18/09/2022 17:52

Narrow defeat for Everton, a defensive error lead to the goal and we should be more clinical in attack but overall not too bad for a team with many new players and manager.

Some surprising results, Villa beating Man City and Chelsea losing to Liverpool

The Women Football show is on BBC1 at 11.50pm, shame it is on that late

Disappointing attendances. They are up a bit compared to previous years, but still below the average for the fourth division of the men’s game.

At least there’s the North London derby on the horizon, which will be a record-setter.

reevonomia · 19/09/2022 21:13

@DuncinToffee that’s late 🙄

Apparently 48,000 tickets have already been sold for Arsenal v Tottenham on sat. I will be there

distracta · 21/09/2022 22:36

Should be a good game @IcaMorgan

I’ll be in section 13 wheelchair area. I go in through turnstile G (although last time I think it was the airlock at gate H).

Hmmph · 24/09/2022 13:47

I'm enjoying it being on TV! I'd be enjoying it more if Tottenham were winning...
