Good to hear that update on Walti.

😅
(I hope that is a "phew" icon. I am not good at icon selection.)

From your lips to God's ears!

I haven't kept up with the men's youth teams, I'm sorry to say. I always used to but haven't for the last few years. I did see the FA Youth Cup final though. Disappointing result, but some very interesting looking players. West Ham were enormous. What on earth are they feeding their lads???

Yes all our boys seem to be much smaller than the other teams, not just WH Hopefully they will grow.

Croatia looked like giants. Poor Lewis-Skelley (Ars) was getting battered.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 20/05/2023 11:48

@BellaAmorosa

What a goal by Mari Ward!

The French deserve to be ahead, but we have been defending well.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 20/05/2023 13:08

Shame we conceded. There are quite a few Arsenal players in the squad. Dennis was good.

BellaAmorosa · 20/05/2023 14:33

It's a good spread of players from 6 or 7 academies, which is very healthy.

1-1 was a fair result. Both teams through!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 21/05/2023 21:03

@BellaAmorosa We got third!

I couldn't watch the Manchester derby as it was too stressful.

Thank you United.

BellaAmorosa · 21/05/2023 22:18

I listened but while cooking - I find it relieves the tension!

So the race will go to the final day. Really can't see Chelsea losing to Reading, though.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2023 13:08

Izzy Christiansen announced her retirement, we wil miss her, such a professional and what a career 💙

Well done Chelsea

BellaAmorosa · 28/05/2023 17:42

(grits teeth) Yes, well done, Chelsea.

Third it is for Arsenal, but with a trophy that's not too bad. I hope we can get the players we need in good time. The less said about yesterday's game the better. Aston Villa were terrific and we...weren't!

6th is a decent finish for Everton, I'd have thought. I've got my fingers crossed for your men's team, @DuncinToffee.

I've just watched my recording of the U17 women's Euros. I thoroughly recommend it - the second half, particularly. I think it might still be on BBC iPlayer.

BellaAmorosa · 28/05/2023 18:00

The U17 women's euros final, I should have said. Spain v France.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 29/05/2023 09:47

Yes, we were lucky to get 3rd. At one point, I thought we could lose it as we kept conceding and Man City kept scoring.

I haven't seen the U17 final, but Lopez is amazing.

Parky04 · 01/06/2023 14:45

Reading have been relegated. It has been a miserable season for both the women and the men. But I will be back again next season!

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 15:43

So sorry Parky04, it's kind of exhausting isn't it. Hope your teams bounce back soon.

@DuncinToffee

Yes, I saw that.

Also, why are only 23 players allowed for the women's world cup but 26 for the mens?

Good question, I hadn't spotted that.

Commiserations, @Parky04
So sad for the club but I'm sure you'll bounce back into the WSL really soon.

BellaAmorosa · 01/06/2023 16:01

Congratulations to Lydia Bedford. There seems to be quite a buzz about her and she certainly made an impact at Arsenal WFC. She was only on a short-term contract until the end of the season, so no hard feelings about losing her. I do hope we replace her with another talented female coach, though.

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 15:55

Good question, I hadn't spotted that.

Serena Wigman was complaining about it. It makes more sense. If anything, women should be allowed more.

DuncinToffee · 03/06/2023 17:58

Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh have won the Champions League title with Barcelona.

Congratulations to Barca. Really good final, so exciting.

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2023 12:16

This shows how fragile women's football is

Reading have now confirmed that they will switch to operating on a part-time basis ahead of the 2023-24 season in the Championship.
