I need something to encourage me to read more regularly - i absolutely love to read but seem to have put it on the back burner recently....
want to get back to enjoying it again
I anyone is interested, we could agree on a book (easier said than done, I suspect!)

My book arrived this morning. Very impressed with how quick that was. For a used copy it is in really good condition too. Will start it tonight in bed I think.

boozysoozywong · 23/12/2003 12:35

are you talking erabout divine secrets of the ya-yas sisterhood - soory am typing with one hand and can't manage uppercase, large flu-ey baby sleeping on my chest

HappyHollyHulababy · 23/12/2003 12:40

Yes, that's the one.

Hollymaiden · 23/12/2003 12:41

Amazon have apparently dispatched the book today, so it may arrive tomorrow, but more likely the 29th. I ordered the Red Tent too (I'm a sucker for buying books) and am currently really enjoying Owen Meany. My baby is poorly today as well, so we are having lots of dozey cuddles and I am reading (not right now, obviously!)

boozysoozywong · 23/12/2003 12:41

good, count me in too

jinglesaur · 23/12/2003 12:47

I started it last night - it's really good!

popsycal · 23/12/2003 16:40

Thought i'd join so ordered (yestaerday) Ya Ya second hand from amazon, never ordered 2nd hand one before but thought i'd give it ago. Whilst on i ordered The Red tEnt & Owen Meany, both new copies. The ones from Amazon have arrived this morning ...about 18 hours after they were ordered!! Of course the one i'm really waiting for will be chugging it's way via Royal mail or parcel farce. But Amazon & Business Post did an amazing job.

Mummysurfer · 24/12/2003 15:11

hollymaiden
has yours arrived?

Hollymaiden · 24/12/2003 17:46

It came this morning - hopefully I will have the chance to read it - fist 3 chapters wasn't it? - on time. But I want to finish Owen Meny first - it is great!

Hollymaiden · 24/12/2003 18:15

Oh no, 4 I see. OK.

Have you seen this? Might be useful....?

Bekki · 24/12/2003 18:19

I've read the first chapter but I didn't get into it enough in the first chapter and now I've got to muster up the enthusiasm from some where. I just don't understand the lead character at all.
Hopefully I'll get to grips with it a little better after a couple more chapters.

popsycal · 24/12/2003 21:07

bekki i feel excatly the same as you....cant get past the first few pages

OP posts:
popsycal · 26/12/2003 17:04

i am still really struggling to get going..worried that i will be no whewre near the set chapters by 29th!!!
eek

OP posts:
Crunchie · 26/12/2003 18:28

AAAARGH!!! I am really frustrated, I know I have this book somewhere, but can I bloomin find it!! Hopefully if I can get to the library tomorrow I'll be able to grsb a copy and read really fast and catch up

popsycal · 27/12/2003 15:12

How is everyone else doing with this book....?
I am being totally honest here - am considering not reading it

OP posts:
HappyHollyHulababy · 27/12/2003 20:22

I have read the first 3 chapters now. Not really "into" yet though but will kepp going as I paid for it I have read good reviews for it so hoping it is just the beginning is a bit slow.

pie · 27/12/2003 20:27

I have to say that I haven't joined this book club because I read the first couple of chapters and I couldn't get into it.

suzywong · 27/12/2003 20:33

I read it a couple of years ago and it was .... OK. Wouldn't break my neck to read it again but worth perservering if , if , if , can't really think of a reason

Demented · 28/12/2003 00:41

I'm trying to finish a book that was in a Lucky Dip offer from The Book People (it's a bit dire but I've come this far I may as well finish it) otherwise I might join you, I'm no good unless I can get into the story right away though. I will keep an eye on this thread and see what you are all reading next time.

popsycal · 28/12/2003 15:46
