Would anyone like to be part of a reading group?
I need something to encourage me to read more regularly - i absolutely love to read but seem to have put it on the back burner recently....
want to get back to enjoying it again
I anyone is interested, we could agree on a book (easier said than done, I suspect!)
read it then discuss....
hmmmmmmm
anyone>?

Ordered through Amazon but actually went for a "Like New" used copy. Not sure how it works or what'll be like when it arrives. Just hope it gets her on time. May be doing some super fast reading!!!

ninjinglebells · 19/12/2003 18:10

I've read yaya but I'd love to join you and read it again (if I can find it) - I'm sure there'll be lots to discuss. I agree popsycal, Owen Meany is a great book

popsicicle · 19/12/2003 19:51

popsie · 19/12/2003 19:58

i love a good discussion and remember a level english and degree subsiduory english with fondness....

I must go and try to get this in Waterstones at lunchtime - thought the discussion topics sounded brilliant - it would be nice to make my brain work for a change.

Hollymaiden · 22/12/2003 11:46

Can I join in too? I will nip out after lunch and get the book - it is too long since I hae read a proper book (fanatsy novels and Maeve Binchy don't count, really....)

JanH · 22/12/2003 13:43

Twinkie - it's weird (if that's what you were talking about?) I only found out recently - have been spelling it wrong all my life

jinglesaur · 22/12/2003 15:07

Got it!!

So it's first four chapters on 29 December, is that right?

Hollymaiden · 22/12/2003 15:35

Hm, apparently I won't get it today, as the shop doesn't have it. And I'm not going into town this side of Christmas, so I reckon it is going to be an after Christmas Amazon delivery. REckon I won't have read it by the 29th, in that case (if I even HAVE it by the 29th) but I will catch up later.

I bought A Prayer for Thingummybob, instead. Will read that until the Ya Ya one arrives.

popsycal · 22/12/2003 15:35

thats corrext

jinglesaur · 22/12/2003 15:36

Excellent. Now I just need to find my brain - I'm sure it was here somewhere ...

Bekki · 22/12/2003 16:31

I'm a bit more awake now. Those topics are fine and I'm sure will make more sense when I start reading the book tonight.
If this thread has banned spelling mistakes then count me out, I missed out an entire word in my last message!
I've just finished The Red Tent, every mother should read it, its a fantastic book.

Hollymaiden · 22/12/2003 16:43

Apparently my book will arrive on the 29th - so unless my baby sleeps all morning, allowing me to read the chapters then, I will just have to catch up for the next batch.
