WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Thanks chewbecca

I have found being able to eat crumpets to be the best thing about healthy and filling days :)

Chewbecca · 21/01/2014 17:56

Problem is that I like my crumpets dripping with butter (hence the large butt!)

KosherBacon · 21/01/2014 19:48

Well I tried the courgette noodles tonight and they were lovely. I fancied something really cheesy so made a pasta sauce with little meatballs, lots of Parmesan and light mozzarella (10pp including olive oil) and had them with quickly stir fried courgette. Massive nomnoms.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 21/01/2014 23:04

chewbecca I have tried so many times to follow ww at home but I just lie to myself! I also need that guilt of someone else knowing my weight loss/gain each week!

Loving all these meal ideas. I haven't cooked with quark before, but dh fancies pasta bake tomorrow. fluffy do you think the chicken and pasta bake would work mixed up with pasta and done in the oven rather than with mash on top?

And yy to crumpets. I am also a butter slathered crumpets fan but I chucked our butter out and just have a skim of raspberry jam instead and they're fab. Packs of 9 for £1 in tesco at the minute. I bought some and froze them in twos.

I had some coffee cake earlier. Feeling the guilt. I was a t my mums friends house for lunch with my baby and her new grandson and she made a cake especially. I said no but she made me feel guily for not having it and in the process has made me feel guilty FOR having it! Think I'll go for a big walk tomorrow to try to undo some of the naughtiness. Not very good failing in the first week ffs!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 21/01/2014 23:04

Kosher how do you make courgette noodles? Do you need a special utensil?

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 05:57

Janie- I used a julienne peeler and then stir fried the shreds with half a tsp of olive oil and salt and pepper. You cook them for 90 seconds and that's it.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 22/01/2014 07:34

Wow thanks kosher, I must try that! Another one for the must try list!

TimeToPassGo · 22/01/2014 10:04

Another two pounds gone! That's nine pounds since 6th Jan Smile enjoying it as next week is my hormonal heavy week which was always soul destroying when I was doing WW before. Still things normally drop the following week so must be mostly water weight. Proper catch up later.

Chewbecca · 22/01/2014 10:33

Brilliant time, 9lbs is great, you must be feeling looser trousers now?

I've switched to SS today so have had shredded for breakfast (assume Shreddies is allowed under the whole grain cereal option?), having crumpet, dry fried egg and beans for lunch and making a chilli con carne for dinner. I have bought some mango and blueberries & 0% yoghurt to satisfy my sweet tooth plus a packet of Jaffa cakes for items from the C list.

Feels good not to be writing every down or weighing but I am worried about the effect not restricting portion sizes may have on weight loss.

Chewbecca · 22/01/2014 10:36

Damn, just checked on WW website & it seems it is only Shredded Wheat and mini Shredded wheat that's on the F&H list.

Neitheronethingortheother · 22/01/2014 12:08

Due my weigh in today. didnt really like ss found it too restrictive. Have done pp this last week and stuck to it so expecting a loss today.

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 12:36

Shreddies have quite a bit of sugar in so are a definite no no on SS/ F&H days.

I'm getting quite nervous about tonight. I've lost at every weigh in since I started in the first week of November, so am hoping I don't put on. I am only 2lb away from my 10% award too. I've kept within my 26 points every day except Saturday so really hoping for a stay the same.

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 14:12

Oh and a tip I've just learnt. Don't try and use the WW dairy spread in cooking. I've not tried it on bread etc yet but impulse bought it to try it out as 10g is 0pp. I just tried to make a white sauce with it. It doesn't melt but I carried on trying to make a roux with it. When I added the milk slowly it turned revolting and went down the sink. I made a perfectly good one with 20g flour and 20g plus skimmed milk working at 2pp for the lot. Much better.

HalleLouja · 22/01/2014 14:40

Can I join? Am off to my first meeting tonight. Would like to lose a stone.

Has anyone combined WW with the hairy dieters book? Am loving the book so would like to use the recipes.

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 14:47

Halle- welcome aboard! The lady that writes this blog has almost exclusively followed the hairy bikers recipes. In fact the link takes you to a section where she has pointed out every recipe in both books!

HalleLouja · 22/01/2014 15:00

Thanks Kosher the link looks fab. I love the recipes.

redvelvetcupcake · 22/01/2014 15:45

Hey thanks KosherBacon for the link re HB points going to try this after my first week.
First week not been easy as unexpected lunch out and general disorganisation! Been for a good food shop today and having Chicken breast made into a home made curry and brown rice..
Hopefully will be easier now I have food in!

fluffydressinggown · 22/01/2014 18:26

Hi Halle

I stupidly weighed myself this morning and I was a pound up on Fridays weigh in, hoping it is just because they are different scales. I don't think I will lose this week, just maintain.

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 18:46

2lb off! Delighted!

Chewbecca · 22/01/2014 18:54

Brilliant, well done Kosher, inspiring! Was it on points or F&H?

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 18:57

Points! But I do try and use filling and healthy foods when I'm on it. I don't trust myself to do filling and healthy and stop weighing at the moment.

fluffydressinggown · 22/01/2014 19:18

Well done kosher :)

KosherBacon · 22/01/2014 19:51

Thanks. I've finally admitted to myself that my leader is crap. She talks in cliches and assumes everybody is fat because they just eat crisps and biscuits and drink too much wine. This weeks session on snacking was irritating the amount of crap she tried to flog. The leader I used to go to a few years ago doesn't do it anymore.

HalleLouja · 22/01/2014 21:08

Well I got weighed today (obviously) and I know scales are different blah blah blah but am 2lb less than I was on Saturday.

Simple start seems ok to me. Should be able to do it. Until I go for a drink.....

TimeToPassGo · 22/01/2014 21:36

Yay, busy thread!

Fluffy thanks for the recipe - sounds interesting! Like you I might top it with mash instead of celeriac.

Crumpets... mmmmmmmmm! Love them with butter but a scraping of jam sounds good too. Might even try them with peanut butter.

Kosher glad you tried out the noodles. I planned to make them yesterday but ran out of time. Wondering if they would be nice cold for lunch with a cold tomato sauce. Might give it a go!

Chewie hope you enjoyed the Shreddies :o At least you found out before you spent weeks scoffing them.

Hairy Dieters books sound interesting. Which one do you think is better?

Well done on weight loss to kosher and halle. Lots of success on this board so far, here's hoping it continues.

And Velvet you are right about the whole unexpected lunches out thing - they really caught me out this week, especially on Monday. One good thing about using a 5:2 approach is getting rid of the whole 'Oh no, I've failed my diet so I might as well stuff my face now' attitude. You just have to think 'Tomorrow is another day.'

Going to have my skinny latte, watch some rubbish on TV and head to bed. Night all :)
