WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

I know that the app is confused about potatoes as a medium potato is about 8 but then one with lots of toppings is only 9.

Again, I'd just count it at the lower number but if I stopped losing, would know that could be to blame!

HalleLouja · 24/03/2014 17:36

Am working through the freezer WW recipe book.

The toad in the hole is gorgeous. So are the spinach gnocchi. Wasn't so keen on aubergine cannelloni.

I think somewhere in the freezer I have some courgette and cheese scones. I need to dig those out.

brettgirl2 · 24/03/2014 18:08

The baked potatoes thing is just perplexing, in fact I haven't eaten one since I started. I was on about meat actually because the fat cooks out of it so for the same meat it gave me lots of different values Confused

HalleLouja · 24/03/2014 18:33

Has anyone else discovered meringe nests are one point. Together with 30g of the WW West Country low fat thick cream which is another point and strawberries / other berries that is a yummy dessert.

HalleLouja · 24/03/2014 18:35

Its my first week of counting points so this whole cooked versus raw fruit / veg is a new thing for me. Not really got to grips with points yet.

trainersandaches · 25/03/2014 09:37

Well. Not only did I not get to weigh on last night, I am now bandaged up and have sad face after falling off my bike last night and splattering across the road!

I have bruised my knee, hip, hand and shoulder and have a big gouge in my thigh from the pedal. My DH bought me a Creme Egg and a Cadbury's Caramel 'for the shock' which I snarfed in about two bites. Going to have to take it really steady for the next few days if I can't exercise. Boo!

annielostit · 25/03/2014 09:46

Poor trainers, take it easy for a few days.x

KosherBacon · 25/03/2014 10:43

Oh no! You poor thing! Hope you are on the mend soon. Don't forget to replace your helmet- you should always get a new one if you've been in a bump.

pippaloo · 25/03/2014 12:26

Not sure if anyone has already said this but the thing with potatoes is that when they are baked in the oven they lose water weight as it evaporates so technically will be 'less' pointy when cooked, like rice absorbs water and it's impossible to gauge how much water your rice has absorbed therefore changing byte weight. with rice, pasta and potatoes the rule is to always weigh them raw. In general with carbs every 10g raw = 1pp. Does this help at all?

HalleLouja · 25/03/2014 15:37

Oh no Trainers hope you feel better soon.

I too managed to trip today at the end of my run. Wasn't the greatest end and am nice and sore now.

trainersandaches · 25/03/2014 22:59

Thank you all for the sympathy, my bruises have come out tonight and look horrendous! I have a work dinner tomorrow night which I will definitely have to wear trousers for to cover them, and not wear the lovely coral-coloured dress I had hoped.

I have eaten terribly today but am going to just write it off and start again tomorrow. So silly of me to comfort eat - it really won't help. The 'distraction' things I do in the evenings like paint my nails or do yoga aren't really going to be possible as my hands are cut to ribbons, so I need to really concentrate on my newly learned dieting willpower...

ccsays · 26/03/2014 07:25

Oh no trainers, hope you feel better soon! Could you wear black tights with the dress or would they not go?

First weigh in today (I'm doing it online, so I just weight myself at home) and I've lost 3¾ lbs! Bit confused though, yesterday morning I weighed myself and it said I was 11 st 7 ¾ lbs, then later that morning that I was 11 5½ lbs and now it says I'm 11 st 3 ¾ lbs Confused

KosherBacon · 26/03/2014 09:13

CCsaya- well done! Your weight fluctuates during the day, however that variation makes me think its an issue with your scales! Are they on a solid flat surface? Are they old? Scales in hospitals are calibrated regularly, however home ones aren't!

Weigh in night for me tonight. Fingers crossed I've done ok. My period is due in the next few days, which always means a crap weight loss, although I'm hoping my bloating won't have started yet!

everygalaxy · 26/03/2014 14:30

Get well soon trainers!
Cc I always go with the lowest!

HalleLouja · 26/03/2014 16:00

Managed to lose 2lb this week. Very shocked especially as its TOTM so would expect to stay about the same. 12lb down and now another 3lb to get my 10% which is my first target weight. Think I am going to aim for 9 stone 7lb now which is another 9lb.

Trainers to be fair you have a right to be off track for a few days but you can get your focus back. I know it.

annielostit · 26/03/2014 19:32

Evening ladies, totally lost it over a few days. Had heavy weekend, used 49rs on beers let alone food.I need to start tracking on paper again.
Anyone got words of wisdom to dish out? Going on holiday in 2 weeks and wanted to have my stone by then, only at 11lb and feel very round today!!!

Nellysgirl · 26/03/2014 22:10

Trainers you poor thing! Aw must be sore.. Treat yourself and get back on track when ur ready or send DP out for ww chocolate!
Im like you Annie, been doing well but went out the weekend before last and never quite got back into it and gone well over my points and not really any exercise...
Stupid question but has anyone ever gone over their points, on their time of the month and lost weight???? I get weighed tomorrow and go on holiday on Sunday and I'm getting the panic now but seem to be comfort eating rather than emergency starvation!

KosherBacon · 27/03/2014 06:30

Nelly- I went over my points last week (by about 10 or so) and still lost weight.

Annie- what's done us done, just be good for the rest of the week, and don't give up. We all have dodgy weekends! Have you thought of a spirit and slimline mixer? A pub measure is 2pp compared to a pint which is 6pp? You drink a bit less which is better for you too!

Halle- well done on losing 2lb, especially on your period, that is fantastic.

I had weigh in last night and lost 2.5lb! I now weight 10st 12.5lb! I used to weight 13st 1lb, so am delighted. I loved seeing the scale start with a 10!

moonbells · 27/03/2014 09:44

Bah. Been sticking with the plan but plateaued. Already! -2lb in 4 weeks and pretty much nothing in the past couple. I hope that the reason is hormonal and I'm going to drop tons in the next week or two.

However the GP said she could see I'm getting smaller (total lost so far is 1st 5lb) and despite how much I have still to lose, I need to be pleased. So feeling a bit better.

Everyone here is doing so well!

HalleLouja · 27/03/2014 09:54

Well done Kosher!

SuperDuperJezebel · 27/03/2014 14:28

I think I've hit my plateau... Gained 1/2lb last week despite being v good and going to both the gym and yoga. Had a sneaky peak today and I'm still the same, having done a zumba class yesterday. Hopefully another trip to the gym might help push things over the edge and I'll have a better loss this week but I'm not so sure.

HalleLouja · 27/03/2014 14:37

super could you not try a week of SS to have a change? I found making a change to points meant I lost 2lb rather than my normal 1lb last week. They do say a change can help.

SuperDuperJezebel · 27/03/2014 17:31

Been considering it... First time I did SS I lost loads, second time half 1lb. Will see if I can face doing a few days of it next week!

everygalaxy · 27/03/2014 17:50

Can anyone explain simple start I only use the app but can't see it on there? Thanks

brettgirl2 · 27/03/2014 18:16

superduper you've been doing loads of exercise so are building muscle with your activity points. Muscle weighs more than fat but in the long run leads to higher metabolic rate. Stick with it, I think weighing once a week is too often unless you have lots of weight to lose.
