WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

I had my weigh in today and I lost 3lbs so I am very happy.

icanmakeyouicecream · 21/03/2014 15:38

Well done fluffy that's excellent. I've eaten like a pig for the last 3 days and it's weigh in tomorrow morning. I just can't see to get in the swing of things?!

trainersandaches · 21/03/2014 21:15

Brett I have just got my star week period and I have eaten like a horse today and yesterday.

Since I have been losing weight it is all a lot less painful though, I have not been sick since Boxing Day whereas I used to vomit every single month when my period started. In fact yesterday I was tearful and didn't even realise why until it came on - I used to have a week of tears, cravings and anxiety. I wonder if I have fewer hormone fluctuations now I weigh less.

brettgirl2 · 22/03/2014 08:26

600g for me this week. Not bad just over a pound.

Icecream my advice is try to stay within the daily amount every day. Then use the weekly points for when you can't. Some people say 'oh you can have 7 a day' which you can but then there is no leeway.

HalleLouja · 22/03/2014 09:48

My first day on pro points wish me luck.

everygalaxy · 22/03/2014 11:14

I lost 1 and 3/4 pounds this week so pleased with that 3/4 because it means I have lost 7 and 1/4 since christmas! Still a long way to go but getting there slowly. Still got six stone to loose to get to a healthy bmi which is my overall aim Blush

I'm going to keep plodding on and start setting some small goals because the wedding seems too far away!
I can't make meetings so any short term goal ideas would be appreciated?

Good luck everyone Smile

icanmakeyouicecream · 22/03/2014 11:21

Well done girls!

Only lost 1lb this week. Oh well, slow and steady! How much does everyone else have to go? I started just over 14st, currently 10st 7lbs, 1st to go.

brettgirl2 · 22/03/2014 12:14

I don't have masses to lose icecream. Am 11st91/2 as of this morning. Would very much like to be 10st13 (am 5'10) but would settle for dead on 11. I started at 11st13 so it's still early days. .... I think the less you have to lose/ the closer you are to target weight the slower it usually is.

trainersandaches · 22/03/2014 19:40

I don't have much to go either Icecream. My leader said to go for another 5lb and see how I get on. I'm a little bit apprehensive about what will happen when I reach target but I will try to kind of 'live' on filling and healthy I think.

Galaxy I make tiny goals, things like ' if I lose 2lb I can have a nail varnish I like' or 'if I stay within my points today I am going to have a bubble bath'. It helps me break it down to manageable amounts so I don't get despondent or lose interest.

KosherBacon · 22/03/2014 20:32

I started off at 13st1lb, am now 11st1lb and would like to loose another stone, although I am aware that it will be a lot slower than the last two. It would take me to a BMI of about 24.

Trainers- wonderful to hear you are noticing the health benefits of loosing weight.

Brett- I crave crap around the time of my period, its just hormones doing it

newlark · 22/03/2014 21:33

I've put 2 lb back on this week but have not been tracking and have been eating rubbish (coffee mornings and meals out) - I've been a bit overwhelmed at work and haven't done as much walking and have a stinking cold so am comfort eating. The cold is lessening now so I really need to get back on track tomorrow, particularly as we have a big mothers day lunch on the 30th and I'm hosting a coffee morning on the 28th so it will be hard not to eat some cake. I don't have masses to lose - I've set myself an interim target of 11 st 7 which is another 7lbs (started at 12st 8) but would really like to be 11st (or like brettgirl2 10 st 13 would sound even better!)

Nellysgirl · 23/03/2014 01:13

Hey everyone! Does anyone use the tracking app? I'm bit confused as if I enter something with one point - for instance bread, but enter two slices of it, the app is counting it as 3 points. Whereas, I would have counted that as 2 pp? Does anyone know which is the correct way
Confused
At the moment I'm on -9pp for the week and only 2 days in. Does anyone reccomend a good form of exercise to catch up on my points?

KosherBacon · 23/03/2014 06:49

Nellysgirl- the app is more accurate. The pro points of things are rounded down or up to whole numbers. Bread for example the malted Danish bread is actually 1.3 points a slice, so one slice is rounded down to 1pp. When you have two it's 2.6 so rounded up to 3. There are also things that are 2pp each but when you have 2 it's 3pp.

trainersandaches · 23/03/2014 09:16

I often find the app is confused surprising - like yesterday I had a fruit salad from Starbucks which I would have counted as 0 but it was already registered on the app as 2. I just counted it as 2 anyway. I just stick to what is on the app because I lose track if I try and fool it, even if I feel hard done by.

Nelly if you can bear it, going for a little plod around the park is the best way I have found of still losing if I have gone over points. I had minus18 points a couple of weeks ago and still lost half a pound. For me half an hour of running but only adds up to two points where spinning for an hour is 5 points but I don't lose as much. Can you try and do an exercise DVD from YouTube a couple of times to claw points back?

everygalaxy · 23/03/2014 10:23

I have a tiny trampoline that was fairly cheap it lives in iur conservatory and I stick my iPod on and bounce around for ten minutes I always seem to do well when I have done that !

KosherBacon · 23/03/2014 10:33

Trainers- we discussed the starbucks fruit salad at class the other week. It is point free, however, if you just put the nutritional info in it does come back with points. If I put I the nutritional info on an apple it would have points it's just that WW count it as point free. They always tell you it's 0 points, not free, to encourage you to eat less. You do need to keep out for some fruit salads though as they can have a sugar syrup juice.

Nellysgirl · 23/03/2014 11:05

Thanks so much for the help! Yes I understand now how clever Smile
I'm off to reluctantly undertake some exercise. I know I'll feel better when I've done it. Might try my 30 day shred DVD again. Only 20 mins so not too bad xx

Nellysgirl · 23/03/2014 11:10

Urghhhh I've just looked up jogging and aerobics - 20/30 mins around 1 or 2 pp only!!! I'm going to actually die catching up on my points this week Hmm

brettgirl2 · 23/03/2014 13:49

I think it's all highly confusing. Peas have points but bananas don't??? Parsnips have points but swede doesn't? ?? Confused . I think the whole cooked/ raw thing is confusing too. A lot of it is just guess work. I'm not sure I got my lunch right today tbh, it's not an exact science at all.

I tend to put everything I'm going to eat into the app in advance. That way I know that I won't go over. I usually start with dinner and then work back.

brettgirl2 · 23/03/2014 13:50

I went for a walk for 1 hour 15 minutes last week and it came up as 6 points Shock .

trainersandaches · 23/03/2014 15:35

Haha the thought that dragging my arse around the park only burns off the same as a Nairn's oatcake is quite bleak really! But I guess everything uses fewer calories than we think we need.

Kosher that is interesting about the fruit salad - in that case I will happily knock it off my points! I need all I can get as my DH was craving a Nando's so we succumbed while out this lunchtime. I had a veggie burger in a pitta, macho peas and chips- it came to 27 points Shock

Brett when I did Slimming World I was always dubious about their fruit measuring too - stewed/cooked fruit was sunned but fresh wasn't. I just ignored that and thought that if I ever stalled my weightless, I would know where to cut it from.

trainersandaches · 23/03/2014 15:37

*synned!!

beachavendrea · 24/03/2014 06:03

The fruit veggies thing is confusing. I've been counting it all as 0 points! Apart from avo's.
Also I second the small rewards I waited far too long for my first one and it dragged!

OP posts:
KosherBacon · 24/03/2014 06:13

I do get the cooked v fresh thing. If you have it cooked you tend to eat a lot more of it, and as fruit is does have calories in it, they want you to eat a moderate amount and not loads.

Beach- peas, sweetcorn and parsnips all have points in. I think it's because they are quite carby and have more calories than other veg.

annielostit · 24/03/2014 13:41

Along with the fruit/veg debate, I weighed a raw baking potato as 5pp ( on ww pp scales) when it was baked in foil in the oven, its got a pp of 8. Would you use the raw or cooked number?
