WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

The toffee popcorn or whatever it is, is vile! I help out at the shop at meetings, it's hard to keep my face from wrinkling up when people ask me if it's nice. I don't want to do them out of a sale but I can't tell people it's nice, they know where to find me to complain the following week! I just say it's not really my kind of thing. Was so disappointed tho, I have a really sweet tooth.

HalleLouja · 11/03/2014 09:09

The Metcalfe popcorn rocks. That's all. Not tempted to try the WW stuff. Do like the vanilla and choc biscuits they do.

trainersandaches · 11/03/2014 10:25

Oh Metcalfe's is SO yum - the WW one is weird and tastes really odd - like coffee and potatoes and sugar!

The only other thing I have had is the WW barbecue snack-a-jack crisp things, they are really nice.

I am kind of losing my sweet tooth a bit for cereal bar type things - I would like the jelly sweets but I'm not sure they are vegetarian. So I've just been having that orange dark chocolate if I've wanted something sweet, alongside a vanilla herbal tea. It sounds lame but it's a good alternative!

newlark · 11/03/2014 14:04

I stayed the same this week but did have two huge meals out when I went back for seconds both times!

KosherBacon · 12/03/2014 06:09

My first "stayed the same" since I started in November! Boo. I desperately wanted my 1lb to make it two stone. I have been good this week but I think the week befores bad behaviour has caught up with me.

owlsandbadgers · 12/03/2014 07:46

Morning all! I joined 2 weeks ago today, couldn't get to week ones weigh in due to family appointments, so weighing in for the 1st time today! Stuck to it religiously and been out for some lovely bike rides so it all should go well but can't help but feel incredibly nervous!! Fingers crossed, have a lovely day everyone!

Gannetgob · 12/03/2014 11:10

Hi all,

I joined weight watchers last night and the leader wouldn't tell me my points allowance :( She said I need to do the simple start but I'd rather do the points because I need help more with my portion sizes.

I know you can work them out with the calculator but I didn't buy one because the leader told me I'd get one with the referral from the doctor when my vouchers come next week.

Would someone mind working my points out so I can get on with it?

I'm female, 26, 5ft 8, 16st10. I searched online and one place said I should have 38 points. Will someone confirm if this is right please?

Thanks :)

trainersandaches · 12/03/2014 11:57

Eek good luck owls!

Kosher do you think bad food choices the previous week impact the next weeks' weigh-in? My weighing lady said that to me so I am trying to be good - but I've drunk so little in recent days I have been madly craving sweet things in the evening, annoyingly.

So my yesterday food was:

Breakfast: 3 tablespoons porridge with 200ml skimmed milk: 5 propoints
Lunch: Jacket potato with veg and salad: 8 propoints
Dinner: Jerk tofu with rice and peas and grilled pineapple: 13 propoints

Treats: seven mini eggs - 2 propoints
2 Kallo dark choc ricecakes - 3 propoints
small handful American cherry licorice - 3 propoints

Total: 34 propoints

Activity propoints - six (90 minutes cycling)

Learnings - need to be drinking lots more water!

annielostit · 12/03/2014 12:30

Gannetgob, the calculator I have says 38 on the info you gave, however I would drop 2-3 off that as the allowance you get now is a couple less. When I put mine in it says 29, but at class its 26. This one was designed before fruit was zero points, so I suspect That's why they dropped the numbers.

Gannetgob · 12/03/2014 13:21

Thank you very much annielostit!

newlark · 12/03/2014 13:31

Welcome gannetgob - I'm doing ww online and started with 27 points/day plus the 49 weekly allowance. I started with points as I've done it before (on the older points system when you had fewer points but got more food per point) and like you I know I need to focus on portion control. I found I was eating 30-35 most days to feel like I had eaten enough so needing some of my weekly points each day but I was doing enough walking to earn activity points too.

annielostit · 12/03/2014 13:38

Trainers- I don't think I drink enough, especially on days I exercise. I have a 500ml water at the gym, but then only 1-2 glasses in the day plus a couple of teas. I shall try harder.
How do you ladies split up your daily allowance?
Or is it hope by 5pm you got some left for dinner. I'm really poor at planning this week and had to use wpp for a biscuit dip yesterday, I'm sure I get hungrier when I've been to the gym.

WingDefence · 12/03/2014 13:40

Hi - can I join?

This is the third time I've done WW and it's always worked brilliantly before but as I get older (I'm 37) it gets harder to keep it off afterwards! I have also found propoints much harder than the old method as I knew the old points really well and I can't now just look at the sat fat and calories values of a packet and vaguely work out the points in my head :(

I've got a DS who's 5 and DD who is 1 at the end of this month and I've just got back to my prepregnancy weight - unfortunately that is about a stone more than I'd like!

I'm doing it online only thanks to an online voucher code in the autumn and I've not done it seriously enough so I've only lost 9lbs overall since October Blush

I have a wedding to go to in 5 weeks and I'd like to lose another half a stone before then, which I think is perfectly doable?

Right, best get back to my mug of Bovril!

trainersandaches · 12/03/2014 14:13

Annie I have filled a 2 pint glass jug and put it on my desk to stop me snacking! I crave sugar when I'm stressed and yesterday was a shocker for me. I try to have 3-5 propoints for breakfast (a fruit smoothie with chia seeds and yoghurt or cottage cheese), then soup and oatcakes for lunch with a salad and fruit and maybe some almonds, then leave about half for the evenings.

Welcome wing! Half a stone should be easily done (depending on how much you have to lose) - I aim for 1.5lbs a week, broadly.

HalleLouja · 12/03/2014 14:21

Only 1/2 lb down. Or well with all the meze it was still a loss. Did lots of exercise too.

I need to focus and lose the last 6lb to get my 10% badge. Will knuckle down.

LowCarbHeaven · 12/03/2014 14:43

I signed up to my first meeting today. I was a bit annoyed as I have done pro points before so know the drill but she wouldn't give me my pro points as she insisted I started on simple start! The scales always weighed me 5lbs heavier than at home! Hoping I can stick to it! Grin

owlsandbadgers · 12/03/2014 16:38

So, i went along this morning and lost 1.5lb, not what i was expecting in 2 weeks but soooo glad it's a loss!! I'm definately going back to counting my pro points like i did last time i did WW. I think i struggle with portion control and knowing when I'm full so simple start may not be for me, i have 1st 3lb left to lose and I'd rather do it slowly an keep it off :) Its nice to find a WW support thread! I think It'll really help :)

funkypigeon · 12/03/2014 21:49

4lb loss in the first week. I know it's always a bigger amount at the beginning, but considering g it was TOTM is I gave up smoking the same week I'm very pleased!

brettgirl2 · 13/03/2014 07:24

I've joined and and am in first week. Doing pp as the flexibility works for me. Far too scared to go to meetings, am 5'10 and 11st13 so not got a lot to lose (target weight is 11st, or hopefully just under as it sounds better Grin ).

All this 1-2lbs a week isn't going to happen is it with only a bit to lose? If you are just trying to shift the annoying post-baby stone (dd2 is 2 btw not before time).... how long is it likely to take does anyone know?

Am on 27 points and 49 weekly. Not finding it too bad yet it's just meaning my eating cheese out of the fridge, snacking on biscuits and eating a packet of mini eggs after dinner Blush have to stop. .....

trainersandaches · 13/03/2014 08:43

Well done to everyone who has lost!

Brett I would say for the first few weeks at least you'll be able to lose 1-2lb even with a small amount to go - I have a stone to go and am still steadily losing except this weekend when I didn't stick to it. I'm only short (5'2) but am a 9st7 and still losing pretty steadily.

HalleLouja · 13/03/2014 09:16

Am on a mission to be good this week apart from Saturday night. anyone fancy joining me cutting down on the vino?

trainersandaches · 13/03/2014 10:04

Halle YES! I am going out tonight and am DETERMINED not to drink!

Will try as hard as I possibly can to stick to sparkling water and not bow to peer pressure.

Yesterday I ate:

Breakfast: cherry smoothie made with 80g frozen cherries, 60g low fat Greek yoghurt, 1 teaspoon chia seeds, vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon agave syrup, topped up with water: 2 propoints.

Lunch: Half a pot of tomato and basil fresh soup (4pp), a soft white roll (4pp) and a slice of Jarlsberg (wasn't sure but counted it as 20g as 2pp). Also had a slice of almond and lemon cake (6pp).

Dinner: Jacket potato with garlic mushrooms, tarragon and low fat cream cheese - 9pp (I'm sure potatoes are wrong on the app but I am taking advantage!) followed by three Mini Eggs (1pp).

That adds up to 28pp, I also earned 6pp from cycling to and from work. Not too bad really but I didn't bring any fruit to work so ended up having the cake when I wobbled at lunchtime!

brettgirl2 · 13/03/2014 17:17

that's good trainers hopefully I will see a loss on Sunday when I weigh in. Tbh I am Shock about how many calories I must have been eating . The thing is on the past I've had phases where I haven't been able to put weight on Confused .

No intention of cutting down on alcohol, am frantically saving all the points I can to spend on red wine Grin . God luck to those who are. ......

brettgirl2 · 13/03/2014 17:17

Good not god Blush but maybe you need that too!

trainersandaches · 13/03/2014 23:17

Thanks Brett!

Well tonight I managed not to drink at all! Just stuck to bottled sparkling water and feel very halo-polishingly virtuous!

Today I ate:

B: 3 tablespoons porridge with 200ml skimmed milk and mixed spice - 5 pp, then a matcha green tea latte with about 200ml skimmed milk and 1 teaspoon sugar - 3pp.
L: tofu and mushroom pho from the local Vietnamese - counted as 13pp. Two clementines.
S: banana and an apple - 0pp
D: quinoa salad with pomegranate seeds, half an avocado and 40g feta cheese - 12pp
5 almonds and a square of dark choc: 3pp

Total - 35pp.
Learnings- today was quite milk-heavy for breakfast but we had run out of soya milk in the office, annoyingly. Lunch was high pp for me but I had a lunchtime meeting. SO proud I managed not to drink! Also avoided fresh croissants and smoothies at yet another meeting. Had a glass jug of water on my desk which definitely helped.
