WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Bum moonbells. Do you have any weeklies you can allocate to it?

I do freeze unused coconut milk, just pop in in a little bag or plastic tub.

I had my colours done last week and I'm a 'deep summer'. I went with my mum and neither of us need to throw half our wardrobes out as I think instinct has already told us what are our 'best' colours. I found it interesting and thought we both looked visibility 'brighter' in out better colours & will be giving it a go over the next few months.

Back to WW, I still haven't set myself a new weigh in by myself day which is silly of me. I have bought a new battery for my scales but they don't seem to be working properly, I put on 4lb in a day (a good day too) this week. I am largely still sticking to the plan though, mixing up F&H and points and am feeling ok about it. Just need to get back to proper weigh ins.

Fathertedfan · 20/02/2014 21:25

Hello everyone. I only ever went to one meeting and got the Simple Start stuff. I've been sticking to the simple start foods pretty much bang on for about a month, as so far I haven't found this too restrictive and haven't become hungry at all. Total lost 5lb. Having calorie counted in the past, I do find I keep a rough running total in my head each day. Does anyone else do this on simple start? And how much point free food is too much? Am I over thinking it?

owlsandbadgers · 20/02/2014 21:38

Hi all, I just rejoined WW for the second time! First time I lost just over 2 stone, now need to lose another 1st 3 pounds... Its all changed from before from pro points to simple start so a new challenge! Hope to get some ideas from here and support along the way :-) I can't quite get over the unlimited crumpets!

KosherBacon · 20/02/2014 22:04

Owls and badgers- SS is for the first couple of weeks and then they slowly introduce pointing which is the same PP. It's basically designed so that people have to go to 3 classes to get all the material rather than going to the first one and never coming back (says the cynic in me). SS is just silling and healthy but with 4pp of treats rather than your usual 49. There's a few of us here that just do regular pro pointing (including me) b

moonbells · 21/02/2014 12:22

Chewbecca sadly no, I'm working on the old system so weeklies don't exist.

Going to get even worse tonight - friend now coming over with her two DDs and we're likely to hit Chinese and Pizza places this weekend. I shall be amazed if I don't go up at least a pound, ah well!

maybe I should rejoin for the new system as I love crumpets!

KosherBacon · 21/02/2014 12:57

I thought you did have extra ones on the old plan, but it was fewer, somewhere in the twenties.

fluffydressinggown · 21/02/2014 14:36

I lost 3lb today which has really surprised me. I have lost 11lb now :) Very happy.

I am definitely eating better, I don't feel the urge to eat everything on my plate any more, I am just eating until I am comfortably full.

owlsandbadgers it was the unlimited crumpets that made me switch from simple plan to points because I was getting a bit obsessed with them!

trainersandaches · 21/02/2014 16:20

Well done fluffy!

There is no way I could have unlimited crumpets, I love them SO much but don't have very good self-control yet!

KosherBacon · 22/02/2014 13:55

Fluffy- well done that's amazing weight loss. Now that you are 11lb down, can you feel it? Are your clothes getting looser?

fluffydressinggown · 22/02/2014 21:27

Nothing seems different Sad My husband says he can't really tell yet. I have a couple of stones to lose though so I think that is why.

What is nice is not worrying that things I already have will be too tight.

I have had a chicken kebab from the take away for tea, my WW leader said they are only 9 points :)

KosherBacon · 22/02/2014 21:33

I have a chicken kebab when we have a curry, and always have it on chapati instead of naan (also I get bad indigestion these days!).

Well I have lost 24lb and plenty of people haven't noticed. I am seeing family tomorrow and we will see who spots it!

Stars66 · 22/02/2014 21:45

Am just trying to talk myself into starting ww again, I did it last year and lost 26lbs but lost all motivation when I started to look ok the summer ended.
Do i want to do it again?!!Confused

trainersandaches · 22/02/2014 23:18

Stars I tend to tail off once I start making a difference to my shape too! Nearing the lowest weight I have been to a couple of years (am 5'2 and currently 9st10.5, I got to 9st9 on SW in 2012).

If anyone has any tips on keeping going for the last stone or so I would love to hear!

Good luck for seeing your family Kosher, I bet the 24lb has made a big difference - though my family possibly wouldn't notice if I turned up in a sumo wrestler's nappy. Saw a family member this week who I hadn't seen since Christmas and she said nothing. Am thinking it's obliviousness rather than that it doesn't show.

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/02/2014 23:40

I wouldn't worry, I have seen a few people I haven't seen since before I've started WW, and they don't even seem to notice i've lost 90lbs!

HalleLouja · 23/02/2014 10:37

[Passes SuperDuper's friends and family some specs]

Am making some food for the week so baked fruit from HD and the tomato and butternut squash WW soup. Nom nom nom.

I think I will definitely use some of the recipes I have been using once I have reached my target weight. Also going to make some courgette and feta scones again. Have the ingredients ready.

KosherBacon · 23/02/2014 10:48

Super- are your family nuts?!? You've lost over 6 stone and they haven't noticed/ commented?!?

Halle- how long have you got to get to target?

I still haven't set one. I like to go half a stone at a time, although at the back of my head I would like a bmi in the healthy range, which would mean I would need to lose another 13.5lb

What are we planning to eat this week? My dinners are-
Sun- beef stew (7pp), lots of veg in it (have a kids birthday party in the day!)
Mon- blackened salmon and sweetcorn salsa
Tues- Thai chicken curry
Weds- pasta with meatballs in a tomato and mozzarella bake
Thurs- fish finger sandwiches
Fri- roast chicken
Sat- weekend away with the girls!

HalleLouja · 23/02/2014 11:27

Kosher do you have the recipe for the blackened salmon. That sounds yum.

Today am off out for lunch.

I am making Chicken Stew from F&H book, Salmon Laksa, Spag bol, HD spicy pork rice and sweet potato stew from HD book which I am planning to cook in slow cooker tomorrow whilst I am at work.

HalleLouja · 23/02/2014 11:28

Kosher I am only trying to lose a stone and had lost 6lb as per Weds. So another 8lb to go but might try and lose a bit more once I get to the target outside WW but following the plan. We will see.

KosherBacon · 23/02/2014 12:08

This is the salmon recipe

Chewbecca · 23/02/2014 12:47

The salmon looks great, and I have a bit of a mango addiction at the moment so extra appealing. I buy it ready cubed in waitrose as that way it tends to be ripe and I find them tricky to cut up & end up throwing a lot away.
Well done to all the recent losses, inspiring stuff!

SuperDuperJezebel · 23/02/2014 15:06

Oh don't get me wrong, most people have noticed, but the odd person has said 'oh, are you still doing weight watchers then?' when i've lost a good half a dozen stone since last time we saw each other!

trainersandaches · 24/02/2014 11:28

WI for me later on today, sort of lost control a little on Friday lunchtime and on Saturday got a bit greedy eating chocolate, gummy snakes and Metcalfe's popcorn.

Yesterday I had some friends over for a roast but we went for a walk beforehand and I also ran four miles in the morning so although I did have pudding (chocolate cake, ice cream and mini eggs) I think overall I have done OK.

My meals for this week are:

Tonight: Risotto
Tuesday: Veggie sausage hash
Weds: Maybe halloumi and pomegranate salad with French bread croutons
Thursday: Soup and toasties (in on my own)
Friday: Probably something like jerk tofu with rice and peas

I'm trying to eat as healthily as I can during the week and let go more on the weekend as my DH doesn't like it when he thinks I'm 'depriving' myself so it's easier just to pick my battles really. He thinks you can lose weight just by doing exercise (if it's possible, I certainly can't) so although he is trying to get a few pounds off he won't attempt WW despite me trying to persuade him as I want a spa day

craftynclothy · 24/02/2014 14:25

Can I join in? I've just rejoined WW today - I've been pondering whether to rejoin or not since new year but the Groupon offer finally gave me the push I needed.

For background, I did WW a couple of years ago and lost well over a stone. Then I got a really bad bout of tonsillitis, ate nothing but jelly for a week and ended up totally slipping off the plan out of desperation to eat food again! Tried it again last year but I didn't seem to lose anything so cancelled and have now put the wight back on and more . Hoping for 3rd time lucky.

trainersandaches · 24/02/2014 15:54

Welcome crafty! And welcome back to WW. I have only been on it since January and have lost 11lb so far.

I tried Slimming World in the past but the lack of portion control and DEATHLY BORING meetings was a sticking point for me! I'm still a bit in the WW honeymoon phase so am quite enthused by how well it's worked for me.

Tonsilitis is the worst pain I have ever been in, I have had my tonsils out now but it is no fun.

fluffydressinggown · 24/02/2014 16:17

Welcome to the thread crafty

This is my menu plan for the week:
Spaghetti bolognaise
Herb crusted chicken breasts with potatoes and veg
Tuna steaks with salad and mini roast potatoes (with frylite)
Omelette with salad and sweet potato wedges
Pasta bake with bacon and mushrooms
Egg fried rice (WW recipe)
