WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Feeling very hungry today and trying not to pig out! I have had a v.low point lunch of low fat cheese spread on crackerbread. Not sure what to snack on to fill me up a bit more, I have just had an orange and I am still hungry! Doesn't help that I am watching a repeat of The Great British Bake Off!

I am impressed at all of these activity points people are getting, I am so so lazy, I need to get my bum in gear.

TimeToPassGo · 03/02/2014 16:10

Okay, haven't so much fallen off the wagon as thrown myself face first into the carbs Blush

I am wondering if I'm pregnant Confused Too soon to know but I remember carb fever and bouts of rage (over nothing) as my early pregnancy symptoms last time round.

Of course if I'm not pregnant the scales are going to give me a real telling off come Wed.

KosherBacon · 03/02/2014 19:41

Time- are you TTC?!? I couldn't cope and would be wee'ing on sticks if I were you!

Fluffy- I always try have about 6pp at lunch. Too low point a lunch and I'm ravenous. I had pea mint and chilli soup for lunch today with a warburtons thin and laughing cow sarnie. Oh and a jelly. I'd be starving on any less.

KosherBacon · 03/02/2014 19:42

Oh and I do zilch exercise. I'm far too lazy and have no idea where people with kids who work find the time.

moonbells · 03/02/2014 20:55

beachavendrea I hope you get to your 75kg incentive trousers soon!

Didn't have any cakes. Did have a large smoked salmon salad with pesto-ish dressing. I'm not thinking about the points, but am sure I had enough left.

Anyone looking for easy lunches, I cook a nest of noodles (about 50g dry) with a stock cube in water. Fast, dirt cheap and filling. I'm a carb junkie so it works for me as long as it's fat free too. When I start getting bored of it, I'll start adding shredded mushrooms and spring onions, or switch to miso.

trainersandaches · 03/02/2014 21:51

I put on half a pound this week - completely justified really after my freewheeling week!

So in conclusion, it appears I can't use my activity points and expect to lose, although it would undoubtedly have been more if I hadn't been counting.

I think because the first 8 pounds came off so quickly I got a little bit bored/hungry this week and lost my motivation. In a few pounds' time I will be in uncharted territory as I'll be lighter than I have been since my early twenties, so I need to get some strategies in place to not just let it fizzle out.

Maybe I will try and use more points in single sittings rather than throughout the week having the odd treat of a bit of chocolate, a glass of wine, some popcorn etc...

HalleLouja · 05/02/2014 13:28

I lost half a pound this week. Am disappointed but its mainly due to TOTM I think. Am on today. At least it was a loss I suppose.

trainersandaches · 05/02/2014 16:16

Halle half a pound is good - I think sometimes your body just needs to kind of reinforce itself from the week before before it carries on.

It all stacks up and weight loss doesn't go in a straight downwards line.

fluffydressinggown · 05/02/2014 17:56

Well I went out for lunch today and ignored being on WW and had a burger.

I am sure I will have put on weight this week, and it will be all my fault! I need to make better decisions when eating out.

trainersandaches · 05/02/2014 19:13

As long as you enjoyed it fluffy! I went to GBK a few weeks ago and instead of having a burger and chips, I had a small burger, then shared (large) chips and a salad with my workmate.

To be honest the net amount of food is probably the same because of the chips but I felt as though because I was sharing, at least I didn't eat beyond fullness. I really enjoyed it and didn't feel deprived at all and sometimes it's good for the soul to just give in to those urges!

KosherBacon · 05/02/2014 20:44

Fluffy- I think a burger is fine. I try and have a burger and the bread or burger without the bread and wish fries. I try not to have chips and bun, it's one or the other.

As for me, I lost 2.5lb, so 21lb gone now. I always have a good loss the week after my TOTM though.

fluffydressinggown · 06/02/2014 15:24

Well done kosher

I got weighed today and I lost 1lb which I am happy with because I have eaten loads recently.

Hoping to get my half a stone next week, very jealous of you with big losses, mine seems to be going so slowly.

KosherBacon · 09/02/2014 19:04

Gosh this thread is really tapering off. I wonder if people are becoming confused with simple start, filling and healthy and pointing and them giving up. Or if it's because the New Years resolutions aren't getting past feb.

Anyway, good luck to those if you that are soldiering on.

Fluffy- great news on losing a pound and I do have my fingers crossed for you for your half stone this week.

Trainers- I saw your post on style about throwing away all your size 12s and needing a whole new wardrobe. Congratulations! My clothes look a dog on me but I'm refusing to buy any more until I've lost about at least half a stone.

moonbells · 09/02/2014 19:34

I'm still here! Down another 5lb, was a bit ill with upset tummy at the back end of this week and didn't feel like eating for a couple of days. It shows (but I did have a full roast dinner today to make up - figured I needed it so I bet that 5 is nearer 3)

However I'm putting 5 on my chart just so I can say I hit my first goal!

Fathertedfan · 09/02/2014 20:30

Hello, I've just found this thread. Started back at WW three weeks ago and got the simple start stuff. The meeting was really mind numbing and I haven't been able to face going back, but have stuck with the simple start foods pretty religiously and have lost 3 pounds (got about a stone to lose total, so I think it's going to be quite a slow process) As I on.y did the first week, I don't know if there is any 'tweaking' needed to what I'm doing. I'm trying to eat a fair bit of fruit and veg a day, but stil need the carbs big time - especially the crumpets - which I am addicted to. Does anyone have any advice please?

Chewbecca · 09/02/2014 21:35

I am still here but did not attend my weigh in today Blush. Feeling disheartened and had too much wine with lunch to drive!
Have been on and off all week, mostly on but went out for a curry on Friday night so that was def an off. I think i would've STS. Not sure where I'm going from here.
Made a good recipe last night though that I'd like to recommend venison with chutney, didn't feel 'diet-like' at all but pretty good for WW. We had it with roasted root veg.
fathertedfan the only change after week one is switching your 'extras' to 49 points a week for items not on the F&H list. 3lbs is a great start (especially since you don't have a huge amount to lose) so I'd carry on as you are but add more flexibility in with your extras if you feel the need.

trainersandaches · 09/02/2014 23:13

I'm still here too!

This week I have been trying to do some yoga vids on Youtube and upping my exercise- managed to get 34 exercise points (not that it helped last week).

I also bought a vegetable spiraliser as recommended on another thread on here! How is this for karma - took my old stuff into the charity shop and after wanting a spiraliser for aaaages they had a brand new one on a shelf still in plastic wrap for a fiver! So I made WW courgette and feta scones, yum! Weigh-in tomorrow - I have had fewer points than last week so we will just have to see how the scales are looking...

HalleLouja · 10/02/2014 08:23

34 exercise points. Wow trainers. Am on 4 so far that is 2 5km runs. Am doing HIIT today. Then a 5k tomorrow and pilates. So maybe another 12 points there.

KosherBacon · 10/02/2014 08:31

Moonbells-well done, 5lb is fab. It can't all be illness, I'm sure much of it is hard work.

FTed fan- welcome! There's an iPhone/ android app that is recommended on this thread (sorry can't search only phone). It's about £3 and will help you work out those extra 49 points. I do purely counting and people say it's great for that too.

Chewbecca- that looks delish. I might get some venison for a cheeky valentines dinner. What time is your class? Who wants to go to ww on a Sunday afternoon?!?

Trainers- where do you get your workout videos from? I do nothing all day and need to tone up this jelly belly and thighs. Are there any you tubers you would recommend? I love my julienne peeler (poor mans spiralizer). I've started sneaking ribbons of veg into DSs food too. I am loving courgette noodles, especially when I am having a point heavy sauce. I do think cutting back on some carbs is better for me, although I don't do carb free.

trainersandaches · 10/02/2014 11:21

Thanks Halle! I cycle to work (seven miles each way) which adds up to six points a day. I have noticed that as I'm losing weight, I get fewer exercise points for doing the same length of running, for example, which is frankly a bit galling!

Kosher I would highly recommend the 30 Day Shred, I love it! You can get it for a fiver from Amazon though too so you're not stuck to your computer. Other than that, I've been doing Esther Eckhart yoga - she explains it well and has a nice voice so I've been sticking with her! www.youtube.com/user/yogatic

I'm so excited about doing courgette noodles should get out more was going to try them with pasta sauce this week. I definitely see the difference when I cut back on carbs but I don't think I could ever low-carb to be honest - love bread, pasta and potatoes too much!

HalleLouja · 10/02/2014 12:13

Has anyone made the easy veg soup on the WW site? Am going to try it now. I did like the SS butternut and tomato soup but fancy a change.

I too am thinking of courgette noodles instead of pasta. Am making the SS moussaka this week as well.

KosherBacon · 10/02/2014 12:18

Sorry Halle, I've not made that soup. I like my soups to have about 2-3pp a bowl, including some protein. Today's as spicy vegetable and red lentil.

Trainers- the Shred ruined my knees- I would never ever do it again!

trainersandaches · 10/02/2014 13:56

I made this soup today: www.weightwatchers.co.uk/food/rcp/RecipePage.aspx?recipeid=72121

But with pumpkin instead of squash (had half a pumpkin in this week's veg bag) and courgette and cheese scones: community.weightwatchers.co.uk/Blogs/ViewPost.aspx?threadID=1121512

I did use feta instead of cheddar and they were nice but I could have left the cheese out as it wasn't really detectable.

I highly recommend!

Kosher if you can't shred, I'd maybe try a Tracy Anderson DVD - she does a mat one which is supposed to be good. Someone sent me DVDs including a legs, bums and tums one which I'll give a go and let you know if it's OK on knees - I would guess so as it's less leaping around!

HalleLouja · 10/02/2014 14:08

Liking the look of the scones and have some feta. Might make some now. Just have standard self raising flour though. Will give it a go.

HalleLouja · 10/02/2014 14:37

Courgette scones in the oven. Fingers crossed.
