WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Ooh well done, I hope they are as nice for you as they were for me!

Fathertedfan · 10/02/2014 20:11

Thank you for your welcome and tips. Will put courgettes on the shopping list along with emergency crumpets and cottage cheese!

trainersandaches · 10/02/2014 20:23

I'm down two pounds, meaning I weighed in at 9 stone 11.5! So it is slooooowly moving in the right direction.

A bloke at work told me I looked like I had lost 'tonnes of weight' which was weirdly nice to hear (have been there since my heaviest weight so they have seen me at my biggest).

Would love another few successful weeks to help me well on my way to target! Aim for this week is to do more nightly yoga and perhaps try swimming - the meeting tonight was all about being active.

KosherBacon · 11/02/2014 06:24

Trainers- how tall are you? And what is your final goal weight?

trainersandaches · 11/02/2014 10:59

Kosher I am 5'2 and have a small frame. But I read that slimmers are recommended to think: 'It's about shape, not size'.

I am eventually aiming to get to what I would guess will level out at about 8 stone 7 on the scales - that leaves me half a stone over my lower recommended weight. My sister maintains her weight at 8 stone 2 (she is a club runner) and is the same body shape as me but 5'7 - she is definitely slim but not at all gaunt. I have no real reason to be that low so don't mind being above.

At the moment even though I am under 10 stone, I have a lot of pockets of fat. I am aiming to get the shape I want rather than a particular number on the scales. I would love to look OK in a swimming costume for the first time in my life! I haven't set a target yet at WW though, I'm just seeing how I go.

HalleLouja · 11/02/2014 12:38

Courgette and cheese scones are yummy I am having two with my lunch. Also the the zero points soup was yummy too. Added some celery to give it more flavour. Also, served with a little bit of fat free yoghurt to add a bit more protein.

trainersandaches · 11/02/2014 16:11

Ooh sounds lovely.

I used to make celery soup with yoghurt which sounds horrible but is a slice of very heaven - tangy and fresh-tasting! Maybe once I'm through this week's soups I'll give it a go.

Discoflame · 11/02/2014 20:56

Hello

Would it be ok if I joined in?

I have just signed up to 3 months online with weight watchers, online only as I won't make it to a class every week.

I have 2st 2lbs to loose and a lovely holiday coming up in June! I never used to have a problem with my weight but DD is 16 months now and the baby weight needs to go!!!

I'm a bit nervous of starting out, I can't cook and I loove pasta and chocolate!!

So I think after looking at the weight watchers website I will start next week on simple start, as I need that much time to get my head around it and meal plan! I'm feeling a bit over whelmed at the moment, is it complicated?? It looks it just now!

Was browsing this thread today and was so pleased with everyone's weight loss that I convinced myself it was the right thing to do! Now I've spent the money I'm terrified!!

Fathertedfan · 11/02/2014 21:35

Hello Discoflame! As far as I understand the simple start is exactly what it says. The list of foods is what you can eat. It does include whole meal pasta so as long as you ae careful what you make your sauces with you can still get your pasta fix. When I started three weeks ago, I stocked up on crumpets, which I have plain with a scraping of low sugar jam, cottage cheese, quark and fat free yoghurt. I always have sugar free jelly made up with loads of fresh fruit in it, so I've got something sweet when I need it. I've not needed to deviate from the food list yet, so am sticking so far to eating within it. so far so good.... Good luck!

trainersandaches · 11/02/2014 22:31

Welcome Disco!

I started at the beginning of the year on Simple Start and have lost 10lbs as of yesterday. It was a little bit confusing at first but it soon becomes second nature. I'd highly recommend the app if you have a smartphone. I did move on on the second week but I'm veggie and my options were a bit limited.

For me the big thing has definitely been to plan mealtimes as much as I can and never be stuck without some water and a snack. Good luck!

KosherBacon · 12/02/2014 07:54

I might have to check out these scones.

I'm going to make the venison on Friday- it's a good alternative to steak and it's quite low in points compared to steak and will make a delicious valentines dinner.

Disco welcome and good luck! Remember, simple start doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want, you need to train yourself to stop when you feel comfortably full. A lot of us have found that our portion sizes were too large before coming on WW. I only do the pointing as I need to properly watch my portion sizes!

This evening is weigh in for me, so fingers crossed for a good weight loss. I'll let you know how I get on.

I am really itching to book my house of colours style day. I promised myself I wouldn't book it until I've lost 2stone, but now I'm thinking I should book it for when I get there. Eek.

Chewbecca · 12/02/2014 09:22

Still getting great losses on this thread, it's brilliant - well done everyone.

I didn't WI on Sunday (7pm group) & my home scales give a totally different weight so I've no idea where I am, although my tight trousers that promoted me to join in the first place are fine again now so that's something.

I'm thinking about doing WI at home from now & saving my £££s from the meeting as I don't like it at all. I just need to be sure that I will remain motivated without the meeting shame. I have the 'value diary' app which is great although only for pointing, not for H&F/SS.

This week we had spag Bol on Monday. I used whole wheat pasta, DH & DS not too impressed. I think my portion sizes are dodgy and I might be best to revert to pointing anyway.

Last night we had sausages with lentils. Tonight undecided yet but it's only me so likely dry fried eggs I think, my favourite.

Kosher I hope you enjoy the venison - we did and like you say, it feels like a treat but it is in fact low fat. I have a HoC colour analysis day booked for this Friday myself! Have you done that already?

Chewbecca · 12/02/2014 09:24

And welcome to Disco too. SS is simple, honestly and I don't think you need to be a great cook, just eat from the list. I would also suggest planning your meals before you shop. What sort of evening meals do you usually eat?

KosherBacon · 12/02/2014 12:03

I had my analysis done in October and loved it. I have avoided buying new clothes as I want to lose more weight, have Many thanks, Jo Stucke style day and then go out and start building a capsule wardrobe. I'm doing some extra days at work to try and earn some cash for a spree.

HalleLouja · 12/02/2014 13:56

Managed to lose a lb this week. Slowly slowly coming off. Am a bit disappointed as was really good and didn't over indulge. Onwards and upwards.

HalleLouja · 12/02/2014 13:57

Waves at newbies.

Discoflame · 12/02/2014 14:17

Thanks everyone.

I have done a small shop today at lunch time and will start tomorrow with just some simple meals and do a proper meal plan and big shop over the weekend. I’ve been looking more online today and talking to girls in my work and my biggest problem and the thing that is scaring me and putting me off is going to be planning ahead and being organised.

I have never meal planned in my life! I tend to just eat pasta or chicken and chocolate!! And due to the fact that my daughter doesn’t seem to like sleeping very much I will struggle when tired as I normally hit the irn bru and chocolate!

Trainers 10lbs so far is amazing, well done!

In fact everyone’s weight loss is amazing. I need to focus on the weight loss!!!

I’m kinda hoping the first step of actually starting is the hardest!

trainersandaches · 12/02/2014 14:25

Ahh thanks Disco! It is actually getting a bit easier now I'm in the swing of it.

For lunches I often just have either homemade soup and a couple of oatcakes with some fruit (and nuts if I'm still peckish) or cous cous with chickpeas, chopped veg and some Quorn chicken (I'm veggie). It literally takes five minutes to make, bung in a tupperware and then bring to work.
I put on a couple of songs I really like and try and get it done while the songs are playing!

One thing I have started doing is having a chai tea in the evening - they are a little bit spendy for a box (about £4) but no more than a few of bars of chocolate, which would be the alternative. They taste a bit sweet and I add in some almond milk (which we have as my DH doesn't like cow's milk) so they are enough to keep my choccy cravings at bay. www.teapigs.co.uk/tea/look_out_for/latte_shop/chai_tea.htm

Eventually I'd like to not have sweet cravings at the end of a meal but I am a work in progress!

HalleLouja · 12/02/2014 17:40

Making Chicken Bhuna from the Hairy Dieters book. Looks like it is going to be yum.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 12/02/2014 23:33

Hello everyone, sorry for going AWOL, if I'm honest I've been hanging my head in shame as I haven't been following the plan at all. But I've given myself a kick in the ass and as of tomorrow I'm going to get some meals planned and the shopping list written. We're thinking about a holiday in June and I CANNOT look like this on the beach!

There have been some amazing weight losses on here, good work!! Reading them has inspired me to get back on it.

Can anyone remind me of the app that was recommended?

beachavendrea · 13/02/2014 02:04

welcome everyone and welcome back Janie
i am trying celery soup, sounds delicious I actually quite like celery juice, I am aware this makes me sound a bit like a weirdo.
In the past two weeks i've only lost a kilo had a blow out the week before because I was celebrating my weight loss by eating sweet stuff! So maybe it's a hangover from this?
Do you find if you are really good one week you often don't see the effects for a few weeks? or is the effect more immediate?

Have completely cut out refined sugar now, only because I am an all or nothing type person, wish I could do moderation but I can't. I am a sugar junkie, like i don't think i could go one day without 2/3 sugary treats since I was a teenager. But it's been surprisingly easy to cut it out and actually takes a lot of the eating guilt out of my life if I just say I don't eat those things and leave it be.

KosherBacon · 13/02/2014 06:09

Welcome back Janie and hello Andrea.

Halle- how was the curry?

I never made it to WW for my weigh in last night. DH made me promise not to leave the house because of the weather. He was right (although I won't tell him!).

It's killing me though- do I find another weigh-in today or do I just go to my regular class next week and get two weeks loss at once?

Discoflame · 13/02/2014 13:57

Hello!

Thanks for the chai tea tip Trainers, I will def get some of that at the weekend!

Hallelouja How was your chicken bhuna??

Janie the beach in June is my motivation as well! Have stuck a picture up beside my computer at work to keep looking at!

Kosher can you weigh in at home or do you need to go to class?

Ok so I have started simply start today… I’m not hungry yet although I stuffed my face with chocolate last night so that might be why! Blush

Does anyone know why I have to start on simply start? I kinda feel like I would prefer to count points, to make me feel more in control. Can I start onto pro points? Or can I maybe do a slight mix of the two, sticking to the simply start list but also using points? Would that be worth it?

trainersandaches · 13/02/2014 14:35

Disco I think it is to stop sugar cravings and also just to ease in gently as it can be a bit overwhelmingly confusing. What I did for the second week of Simple Start was to follow the programme but also count points, so it was then mega-easy to switch straight to points.

I had my biggest losses on Simple Start (3lb both weeks!) so perhaps I should revisit it!

fluffydressinggown · 13/02/2014 18:52

This thread dropped off my list.

I have my weigh in tomorrow, have not had the best week so I suspect I will have maintained/put on which is annoying because I only need 1lb to get my half stone shiny seven!
