WW 2014 support/b*tch thread

beachavendrea · 07/01/2014 05:47

Is there one of these already? I started WW online the day after Boxing Day which was the best or the worst idea I've ever had. I can't decide.
I have a lot of weight to loose and am finding it hard to get motivated, i have been sticking to my points, so thought I would start a support thread!

Not sure what the other thread is where the 'value diary plus' is recommended, but thanks for the pointer. do you know if it

  • tracks points
  • calculates points from NVs?

That's what I need. Still playing the guessing game today which isn't going to do me any favours.

Doing F&H again today but itchy to switch to PP all day but only if i master an app ir sonething. Had fruit and yoghurt this morning, tuna salad for lunch (need to point some French dressing) and having steak, pots, mushrooms and onions for dinner. Probably a curly wurly later too.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2014 17:52

Just read the reviews for the app and looks really good, better than the WW app and just a one off fee sounds good

KosherBacon · 29/01/2014 18:59

Well I've lost 0.5lb this week. I've stayed I my points but I've got my period. That takes me to 18.5lb loss and my 10% weight loss award.

TimeToPassGo · 29/01/2014 19:17

Bloaty McBloat here too - for me it's mid cycle - but I lost 1lb! This is a first usually I gain or best case stay the same! 10lbs gone since 6th of January so very pleased! Sorry for writing and running will catch up tomorrow.

beachavendrea · 29/01/2014 20:41

Yipee all our new breastfeeding mums! I have a 7 month old and started on 38 points and as I've lost weight it has been reduced now about 36 I think. Some days I don't use them all others I do, mostly the weekends. Also haven't been using my 49 treat points as I don't really know how to ony iPhone.
I weighed myself today since Christmas I've lost 6.7 kilos or 14 pounds. I'm very happy with that as the first few weeks I lost about half a kilo and was starting to loose motivation.
Still a long way to go about another 18 kilos but I'm happy with my slow and steady progress.

Whoooooop well done Kosher!

fluffydressinggown · 31/01/2014 11:33

I lost 1 pound today, feeling a bit disappointed really but at least I have lost. I have lost 5 pounds now.

Chewbecca · 31/01/2014 13:20

Well done everyone for the losses, such success on this thread!
fluffy 1lb is still in the right direction, if you hadn't been WWing, you may have put on a lb! Keep at it & you'll be at 1/2 stone soon. Am I right remembering you don"t have a huge amount to lose? So it will likely be little steps too.

KosherBacon · 01/02/2014 08:49

Fluffy- 1lb is a great loss, well done. You should be delighted with yourself.

How are we all set for the weekend?

HalleLouja · 01/02/2014 09:02

Well done fluffy!

Am out for dinner and drinks tonight. But am going to be good for the rest of the day Grin.

Have been keeping up with the exercise and hopefully that will help. It is a double good thing as not only does it burn calories it makes me want to look after myself more.

I did the c25k and can now run 5k or thereabouts and do pilates and a LBT class. What (if any) exercise does everyone else do? Also, is anyone doing SS with flex? Can you add the activity points to the 49?

trainersandaches · 01/02/2014 10:45

Halle I usually get a base of around 24 activity points a week because I cycle to work (usually four days out of five).

I also run and have started doing yoga - yoga isn't very high in points but it makes me keep on track with the other stuff! I just did a yoga tuition video I found on YouTube this morning but I do go to classes as well.

Not sure about activity points on SS - I only managed it for two weeks then moved onto ProPoints!

Fluffy don't feel disheartened - try drinking more water and seeing if it starts increasing?

moonbells · 01/02/2014 13:15

After last week's massive loss, this week I have been struggling not to apparently put on 2lb despite sticking to the plan and doing a lot of stair climbing!

It wasn't until DH commented I was probably retaining water that I realised it was the week before totm and yes I normally put on a few lb extra then. So I should lose it all next week!

My 'carrot' dress arrived and I couldn't resist seeing how small it was. Silly thing stretches to fit already (though I look like a sack of potatoes), so I'm tempted to send it back and get a smaller size just so it won't fit now. But then again, I can always take the sewing machine to it when it's too big.

Shall know where I've got to at 'proper' weekly weigh tomorrow am. Just have to resist all the Chinese New Year food that is in all the shops.

fluffydressinggown · 01/02/2014 13:57

Thanks for the encouragement.

I went out for dinner last night with my bff and had pudding, but it was all in my points so I guess that's ok.

Having family over for lunch today which might be a challenge.

beachavendrea · 01/02/2014 21:16

moon I have a pair of trousers that I'm not even going to put on until I get to 75 kilos. Brand new in box with tags!
Also last year after 5 years of marriage my husband bought me an engagement ring which I wore for about 2 months before I got too fat for it. I look at it in the jewerly box and try it on every couple of weeks but it cuts off the circulation.
That's one of my biggest motivations, putting my engagement ring on. I still think in about 10 kilos away from it.

I love how we've all got goals to work towards. It's great and they are realistic- getting in to the next size down etc.

I am still 9.5lb from being able to book on my style day but have my fingers crossed I will get there at Easter time, although I am aware that my weight loss tends to slow down the more weight you lose, but I will get there.

trainersandaches · 02/02/2014 10:48

I went out for a meal last night - to be honest I think I struggled to calculate the points properly but the kicker was the two glasses of red I had which made TWELVE SODDING POINTS.

And my yoga and a half hour run only added up to three extra points, boo!

Evetyone who has been on WW a while - if you could give me an honest answer that I suspect I might not get in group I'd really appreciate it: this week I have used up nearly all my weeklies, but rather than a couple of weekend blowouts, I have used a steady seven-ish a day.

I have about a stone and a half to lose - will I lose more if I keep a very strict eye on using weeklies? I have earned 28 activity points and not used any yet but I feel quite heavy and a bit like I haven't lost any weight. I have about four weeklies left and we are going to my SIL's for dinner but that should be healthy. But do people lose more if they don't go into their activity points?

For me, it feels as though the exercise I do should be 'in the bank' and I shouldn't then eat more because it is offset by the fact I exercise. My leader told me to use all my points but obviously he has to say that and for WW earnings the slower we lose the weight the better. Or am I totally over thinking?

HalleLouja · 02/02/2014 16:42

Trainers this is from the email I got today:

"You don’t have to become a ‘gym bunny’ to support your weight loss efforts, just sitting a little less and moving a little more can make all the difference. I try and make sure I go for a brisk walk every lunchtime – it works well for me. In fact every day activity such as housework or going up and downstairs can earn you activity ProPoints values. And when you earn activity ProPoints values you can either swap them like for like for ProPoints values you can spend on food, or just save them and enjoy the glow of achievement."

Doesn't really tell you anything!

Chewbecca · 02/02/2014 19:21

trainers I'm no expert rarely exercise but I would expect that you'd lose weight faster if you do not eat your activity points but will still lose even if you do.

Well I lost 1/2lb this week which is fair I think. Was going really well from Monday morning through to 7pm Friday but since then have had wine every day, fish and chips in the pub on Friday night & a big roast (lots of veg), apple crumble and cream this pm. No exercise.

Have meal planned next two days only:
Mon: a veggie chilli based on this recipe
Tues: a sort of spaghetti carbonara, will be my first use of wholemeal spaghetti, have always thought it was yucky but I've been told otherwise.

trainersandaches · 02/02/2014 22:31

Thanks Halle and Chewy! I will just see how it goes on the scales tomorrow - if I have put on, I'll know not to use my activity points again!

I earned 30 activity points this week but have pretty much wiped them out! At my DSiL's tonight she made spinach and ricotta lasagne and homemade focaccia, and we had prosecco (celebrating as she has a new job). I had two glasses of prosecco and then counted the lasagne as 15 points and the focaccia as 12 points - had three slices so that seemed about right.

I was quite proud of myself for making good choices despite the bread as we had said we'd take pudding and usually it would be a Gu chocolate torte but tonight I picked up fresh raspberries and blueberries with clotted cream - then just had the fruit. The Gu torte would have been 8 pps so I am quite pleased! Had factored in the meal by having just a green smoothie for breakfast and homemade soup and a slice of toast for lunch.

These don't sound like big changes but I totted up what I'd normally have on a Sunday - a peanut butter bagel (10 points), something like cheese on toast for lunch (12 points) plus my 35 points for the evening dinner out! A massive 57pps without eating much more in terms of volume Blush. I have had a really active weekend so even if I haven't lost this weekend due to volume of food, I have still been much more healthy than I usually would on a weekend.

moonbells · 02/02/2014 22:53

The gym comments are interesting, I have never been to one (well, a proper one not in a hotel) in my life and I am incredibly inactive when it comes to formal exercise. But I do walk a lot and fidget a lot when trying to sit, and I read once that fidgets burn a lot more calories in a day.

This morning I was 2lb down - don't quite know how given even yesterday morning I was one up! But I guess this is why they say not to weigh each day!
Am now down 2 points in allowance per day, and have to lose 5lb to get to BMI 30. Hoping to shift them by the end of Feb.

Does anyone here undercheat? I seem to slip into it every time I go on a formal diet, and earlier was making myself eat some of DH's peanuts to try and get up to the full number.

trainersandaches · 02/02/2014 23:06

Moon do you mean under eat?

If so, I have decided to not worry if I haven't eaten all my points. If I don't have them all, but I feel full, I will just leave it. Some people in my WW group get worried about 'starvation mode' and I know everyone is different (and I am certainly no expert) but I am trying to learn to eat like a slim person. And I know I have days when I am hungrier than others, so I don't worry if I come in under points sometimes (usually make up for it on weekends!)

moonbells · 03/02/2014 09:49

Yes, trainers undereating. I find I spend the day being so careful I then have 4 or 5 points left and I then either ignore them, or I go and have a late snack to try and use them and then blow it by being unable to resist something stupid eg chocolate/peanut butter sandwich or something similar Blush.

In past diets I've either been too strict or not strict enough. I went from 13st 7 to 9st 12 in 2000/2001 (WW), 11st 12 to 10st 7 in 2003 (WW) and then from 11st 5 to 9st 12 in 2004 (not WW, but wedding as incentive!). After that I became an mummy and the baby weight never shifted (and I was the size of a barn at the time).

This time I'm the heaviest I've ever been (14st 7) and have to lose the most (I want to be 9st 12 again), and am also in perimenopause so it's going to be difficult. I am not going to lose sleep over the not eating quite enough.

trainersandaches · 03/02/2014 12:36

Moon could you think up some four or five point snacks you could have in the evening? And if it is chocolate or nuts or whatever, just weigh it into a bag and mark on the points then put them in a biscuit tin so they are ready?

If you are often coming in under it might be a way of keeping yourself on track.

Something like 20 cashews and a square of Dairy Milk, ready weighed, would stop you undoing all your hard work maybe? That would be three/four points off the top of my head.

moonbells · 03/02/2014 13:13

I could get some ready I guess, but I just know I have no self-control with certain things (chocolate is definitely one) and so once I start, I can't stop. DH would have to sit on me to stop me hunting out more. I've just asked him to pick up some apples and pears for me; hopefully that'll help.

Cheese is another problem area, though really low fat Philly and water crackers works as a snack, again as long as I don't take the whole packet and tub to the table with me or again, I'll hoover the lot. There's a good reason I'm this weight!

This afternoon is going to be tough. Meeting a friend in a cake shop since DS is off on a playdate. Must. Not. Eat. Any. Cakes. Grin

trainersandaches · 03/02/2014 14:06

I'm terrible with willpower too - to be honest I am getting a bit worried about self-sabotage as it has so far been quite easy.

I really want to get this weight off but having got to this stage and faltered before I am really hoping I can keep it together this time.
