Cross-posted with you this morning notyummy, what a coincidence about our DHs. Mine had to have both hips replaced a few years back (at the tender age of 26), so unfortunately he can't do any high impact exercise. And he's quite lazy when it comes to stretches and the like.

Well done for getting off your ass tulpe Grin Also, I'm shredding 6 days a week, with a break on Sundays when I do a longish run instead.

tulpe · 18/09/2010 12:11

MumInBeds - will definitely be your cheering on buddy ::o

How's everyone else doing?

BusyMissIzzy - was thinking of an exercise free day rather than substituting Jillian's torture for a torturous run! Anyone else take the day off?

Yesterday's Day 4 was hilarious with the DCs joining in with me and Jillian! They started doing the squats facing me, dangling wine gums under my nose :o saying, come on Mama, 2 more and you can have a sweet!

Did Day 5 today with DH. He kept telling Jillian to shut up. I kept correcting his form & posture :o Think this may be a solo project from now on!

Have convinced 3 of my friends to start shredding this week too. It is clearly a cult thing!

NothingButTheTeuch · 18/09/2010 13:51

I am on Day3 level 1 although haven't actually shredded yet today! I did first day on Monday, then was away for a couple of days then Day 2 yesterday.

I was so sore after Day 1 but I am fine today after Day 2...

I am also trying to fit in a quick march each day, but that is more psychological as I have been stuck indoors lots of the day and we live in a very beautiful place - it's good for me to get a quick stomp around the shore when I can Grin

MuminBeds and Tulpe - I think we are closest by stage, and I need cheerleaders!!

Fimbles5 · 18/09/2010 18:51

Just wanted to wish BusyMissIzzy good luck for tomorrow. I think I am right in saying we are at the same stage so tomorrow should be day 1 of level 3. I am not looking forward to it at all so will be thinking of you!!

BusyMissIzzy · 18/09/2010 19:51

Grin Fimbles I'm afraid I seem to have fallen behind. I had a day off today (had visitors staying over), so I'm not due to start level 3 till Tuesday. Do you do it every day then? I do six days a week, and a run on my "day off". I'll be thinking of you though, and you can prepare me for how much more hideously awful advanced it is.

notyummy · 18/09/2010 22:42

Going from level 1 to 2 is worse than 2 to 3 IMHO.

That will some of you happy....and some of you not!! Grin

detoxdiva · 18/09/2010 22:46

Fimbles - thinking of you too....will start level 3 tomorrow too. Today was my first rest day in 20 days as I had the dc on my own this morning and had to work a late shift tonight.

MumInBeds · 19/09/2010 08:51

I have decided to have a rest day today (and every Sunday). I've also decided to do it over 6 weeks not 30 days - this will work out as 12days at each level and 2 days off. Tuesday is my day off work so it works well to move to the next level that day.

Slower progress but after years of no exercise I think I can live with that! Grin

Tortoise · 19/09/2010 09:02

< sneaks back in >> I haven't shredded since just before going on holiday about a month ago. Blush
I need to get back into it!

Fimbles5 · 19/09/2010 14:49

Yes, I can't really believe I have managed to do it every day for 20 days. Believe me, for me that is an achievement in itself, I don't usually stick to anything. Plan to go for day one of level 3 tonight. Hubby has suggested that I attempt to do the whole 30 days and then take a 2-3 day break as I feel exhausted. Don't really notice during the day as I work and just keep going but have achy feeling in my legs if I bend down to pick anything up and feel generally lethargic, don't really know if it is due to this or whether I am sickening for something. Will let you all know how it goes later - Good Luck detoxdiva (let me know how you find it) :)

NothingButTheTeuch · 19/09/2010 14:51

has anyone skipped onto level 2 early? I am only on Day4 Level1 so not planning it just yet, but I wonder about perhaps skipping up at Day8/9. I am sweating and working hard, but I do think I could work harder with my 20 minutes...

What do you think?

BusyMissIzzy · 19/09/2010 16:35

NothingBut, I think level 2 challenges your body more and burns more calories, so if you think you can manage, say, 12 days of level 2 and 8 of level 1 rather than 10 of each, you'll benefit more in the long run. I'm sure it couldn't do any harm; if you try level 2 and find it too advanced you could always drop back to level 1 for another couple of days.

Good luck with level 3 Fimbles and detoxdiva!

Fimbles5 · 19/09/2010 18:59

Well....I survived :) So pleased to say goodbye to 'v raises' but not impressed with walking pressups, or rockstar jumps or pretty much anything else I have just had to endure. Found it quite difficult although I don't feel as bad now as I have done after completing level 2, (I think this is possibly due to the fact I wasn't sure of some of the moves so had to watch what Gillian was doing first Grin) Good luck to all moving up a level tomorrow. For anyone else on level 3 do you use the same weights you used for level 1 & 2 to do the jumping jacks and boxing on level 3 (I couldn't even move my arms!!)

notyummy · 19/09/2010 19:09

Fimble - I tend to use different weights, although I know they don't in the DVD. I use between 1.5kg/3 kg and 5kg depending on the exercise. For example, for the dumbell cleans I use 5 kg, for the plank with shoulder and leg raise I use 3kg, and for the jumping jacks/boxing I use 1.5kg.

detoxdiva · 19/09/2010 19:13

Well done Fimbles - have also just done day 1 of level 3....def feel better than I did after doing level 2 for the first time, although it was hard going and I did most of the modified versions Grin Feel positive though that I can build up to super Natalie moves!!

Fimbles5 · 19/09/2010 19:58

Fantastic detoxdiva :) Well done you X

tulpe · 19/09/2010 20:22

Nothingbut am happy to cheer you on too :)

Congratulations to Fimbles and Detoxdiva for moving up to Level 3. I am in awe :)

Have just completed Day 6 of level 1. Was a bit harder than usual - probably due to having been out for lunch today and being relatively inactive.

I did notice however that Natalie does not always complete each set Shock. During the lunges with biceps (or whatever they are called) Gillian highlights how much deeper Natalie is lunging then, as she walks over to the other lady to show the modified version, the camera catches Super Natalie having a bit of a jolly and only moving her arms. Outrageous!!! :o

BusyMissIzzy · 19/09/2010 22:23

Yes tulpe I noticed Natalie conveniently forgetting to lunge as well Grin

Well done Fimbles and detoxdiva; my last day of level 2 is tomorrow, and I feel a bit less terrified of level 3 now. However: Shock at "plank with shoulder and leg raise" and ShockShock at 5kg notyummy! I feel like a lightweight with my piddly little 1kg weights now.

notyummy · 19/09/2010 22:32

Only 5 KG on a few exercises!

You won't catch me doing v raises with them, thats for sure...

And, I have been exercising for quite some time - including 7 years in the military previously, being shouted at by small angry Glaswegian NCOs that make Jillian seem like a real pussy cat Wink

MumInBeds · 20/09/2010 06:46

Well done Fimbles and Detoxdiva!

Well noticed tulpe.

I've just finished day 6 of L1, I am starting to notice a difference in my body, my tum is a bit less wobbly and my arms and shoulders are getting definition. My endurance during the cardio isn't improving as fast as I'd like but it is improving slowly.

I was reading a study about how important it is to eat protein after resistance exercise (study looked at the over 60s but I think it applies to all) so I've invested in some whey protein power for an easy fix.

prettybird · 20/09/2010 09:14

NothingButTheTeuch - after a weekend "off" I am on my 9th Day and have just done Day 1 of Level 2. :)

Went back to doing the easier versions of most exercises and only 1kg weights (although, to be fair, I had only ever used 2kg for the "fly" arm raises).

I have survived! :)

Missmodular · 20/09/2010 22:10

Hi guys, I haven't posted before but have been lurking for a while! Am on day 5 of level 2 and realised tonight that I'm halfway there already!

The only thing is that I don't seem to be losing any weight around my waist, which was the point of starting this crazy thing. Are you guys watching what you eat as well as doing the shred? I'm just eating what I normally eat, hoping that the exercise alone would get rid of the mum tum. Should I give it a bit more time before expecting more dramatic results? Haven't looked at level 3 yet...

BusyMissIzzy · 20/09/2010 22:54

Well, did my last day of level 2 today. My sister and her boyfriend are staying with us tonight so I won't be able to work out in the morning as I normally would, but I will do day 1 of level 3 at some point tomorrow. If I don't, I won't make my goal of finishing the Shred before my birthday. But that's moot, because I will do it Grin

NothingButTheTeuch · 21/09/2010 09:42

Teuch is straaaaaaawng this is easy for Teuch Grin Hmm

Did day 4 in the evening rather than between 5-6pm - that was hard! Much harder than usual, but then I heard Day 4 is hard...

Day 5 I really struggled at the beginning - thought I was going to pass out on first cardio circuit! But then breezed through the rest Confused

Anyway, am on Day 6 but am terribly hungover... I know its only Tuesday but where I live we don't do weekends Wink

prettybird · 21/09/2010 09:56

Done my 10th day - 2nd at Level 2. :)

Don't manage to move very far in any of the plank type postions: very nominal press-up (but then I can only do the bent-knee press-ups in Level 1), very small jumps both up and to the sides (can't remember what they're called - in Circuit 1 and Circuit 3) and very small plank twists. My excuse (and I'm sticking to it Wink) is that I don't have strong should muscles - or wrists.

But I've done it.
