If its any consolation Busy I'm stuggling with those too, and also the jumping jack thingeys where you jump your legs forward and backwards (nightmare)...however am feeling very proud today as managed all the walking pressups and one complete set of the one where you stand on one leg. Still don't think in five days I will be ready for level 3!!

NorksDrift · 14/09/2010 11:01

Has anyone tried Jillian's "No More Trouble Zones" DVD? I'm thinking of ordering it when it comes out in October in the UK format.
Here

LostGirl · 14/09/2010 11:41

I have, it's good though 40 minutes long rather than 20. Follows a similar format to the shred with different circuits, each one working two different muscle groups with strength moves. Some of the exercises are the same as in the shred so lots of lunges, squats, push ups, plank style stuff. Despite the fact that it is promoted as a strength training, not a cardio workout it does really raise the heart rate. She has a new one coming out in December, 6 Pack in 6 weeks which looks interesting too.

BusyMissIzzy · 14/09/2010 15:32

40 minutes? Shock Granted, every other day I do the Shred and then 20 mins aerobics or kickboxing, but the 2nd 20ins is less hardcore than 40 mins of pure Jillian!

Level 2 day 5 here, which means... halfway there! The timing is quite good actually, it's my birthday next month and instead of a present I've asked DH to give me some money for clothes shopping (just £50 or something, but my parents usually give me some money too). So on the Friday before my birthday DH is taking the day off to look after DD while I go clothes shopping. I'll be finished the Shred by then (..hopefully), so I'll be able to go and buy some nice new clothes to fit my newly slimmer body. Grin

detoxdiva · 14/09/2010 19:27

Oooh Busy - new clothes shopping...I am very Envy!! Want to get some new winter clothes for work as I was on mat leave last winter so am a bit lacking in nice stuff....want to be able to wear a size 12 with less lumps and bumps!

Day 14 here - so this time tomorrow I'll be half way there Grin Am kind of looking forward to level 3 in a wierd mad kind of way as my stamina has improved so much that I can do all the cardio without a break now, as well as most of the unmodified exercises....plank jacks aside!!

tulpe · 14/09/2010 19:43

Day 2 of Level 1 here so still a newbie :)

I began swearing at the tv this morning when it really started burning and the lovely Jillian was telling me that I wouldn't get those abs for free....!

I do feel very energised by it though and I love the fact that it is only 20 minutes - making it easy to fit into the day and also means I don't get bored and switch off after half an hour :o

Am relieved to hear from some of you that after day 3 it all seems to get much easier.....until facing up to Level 2.

trumpton · 15/09/2010 08:42

Gah started again on 9th sept but then fell headlong into a migraine so am only just back.....I will , I will, I will do this again. It was so good the first time round and I really enjoyed it and the results were all I hoped. So 'ere I go again.

tulpe · 15/09/2010 10:25

Day 3 completed :o

And yes, definitely feeling easier - particularly the ab work.

BusyMissIzzy · 15/09/2010 10:53

Go tulpe! :) That migraine sounds nasty trumpton, I've never had them but I know they can be debilitating.

Level 2 day 6 here. Still sweating loads by the end, but I can tell my form is improving as I'm finding the moves easier. The last set of squats with "V" raise are still kicking my ass (well, my shoulders) though.

I've just taken my measurements again, now that I'm halfway. I seem to have lost 2 inches off my waist and an inch off each thigh. I also measured my tummy (the flabby bit below my belly button), which I should have measured first time around, but didn't. So I'll see if that goes down by the end. That, and my thighs, are probably the bits that need most work.

How are you getting on Fimbles, And TrollyDolly, if you're still around? And detoxdiva; on the home stretch now? :)

tulpe · 15/09/2010 15:08

Thanks BusyMissIzzy

Have just taken my measurements today for comparison at the end of my first 10 days. Fingers crossed for a thigh reduction at the very least!

Fimbles5 · 15/09/2010 20:32

Hi BusyMissIzzy - I'm still here!! and still struggling, am not sure its getting any easier but figure that anything I am doing is better than nothing at all. I am now able to manage all the cardio sections, but am still struggling with 'v' raises and the ones where you stand on one leg :( Am feeling a little nervous about starting level 3 on Saturday if I haven't achieved level 2 successfully. What do you recommend..do you plan to move on anyway??

notyummy · 15/09/2010 22:36

Move on and do the modified version. When you have finished the 30 dyas, then you can go back and do the hard version of everything!

Everyone has some exercises they find. I am pretty fit (so modest!) but find the v raises tough.

Levels 1 and 2 together tomorrow evening for me. I have been too much cardio abd not enough strength overall so am struggling to get over how much my legs hurt when I do loads of squats and lunges....

BusyMissIzzy · 15/09/2010 23:00

I think notyummy is right, it's probably better to do the modified versions with good form than to half-ass the hard versions iyswim. That way you're working the right muscles, as well as burning calories.

saltcod · 16/09/2010 10:47

Completed day 4 of level 1 last night - def. getting easier - managed it all at the higher level apart from a handful of jumping jacks and arm raises (the ones with the lunges). It was the first time I'd been able to do all the rope jump thingys!

MumInBeds · 16/09/2010 18:35

May I join you please?

You ladies are a great inspiration, it's great to hear how well you've done. :)

I did day 3 (L1) this morning.

I bought the DVDat the start of the school summer hols but didn't have time/made excuses and didn't start until the children were back to school.

Over the summer I kept looking at the box not even daring to play it as it seemed terrifying, actually doing the work-out was hard but not as hard as I'd built myself up to thinking.

I have had to adapt the exercises a little due to some 'interesting features' of my body , my left had has very little grip so I have gone for weights that velcro around my wrists, I hope that still works. I also have fused lumber vertebrae so can't do reverse crunches or the first part of the cool-down - I've done my best to adapt it though.

I ache quite a bit today but it's a good ache.

BusyMissIzzy · 16/09/2010 20:39

Come on in MumInBeds! Sounds like you're managing to adapt it to suit you; is there a different way you could stretch the muscles at the backs of your legs? My DH has fused spine in his neck btw (he has ankylosing spondylitis).

I know what you mean about a "good" ache; that means it's working :)

Level 2 day 7 here, and 20mins kickboxing. I'm starting to get scared of what level 3 is going to be like..

MumInBeds · 17/09/2010 07:13

Thank you BusyMissIzzy - I stretch the back of my legs using one of my physio moves, standing on the bottom step with my heels 'hanging over'. Your poor DH, I know that can be very painful. Mine is congenital, I have neural tube defects.

It's amazing how many of you do other exercise right after this. :)

Right, time to get the children up, fed and to school, then I can do day 4! The weekend will be when it will be harder, please feel free to shout at me if I slack! Grin

detoxdiva · 17/09/2010 07:59

Welcome muminbeds - stick with it, it does get easier until you start level 2 and then you think you're going to die Grin

Day 17 here Shock so only 3 days until level 3 eeeek. Haven't even watched it yet - too scared!!!

Joby1970 · 17/09/2010 08:25

I found level 3 to be easier in a way than level 2 (honest)

notyummy · 17/09/2010 09:36

Busy - My DH has AS as well! Fused lower in his back. He exercises a lot to keep himslef mobile.

Joby - I agree that in some ways level 3 easier. Think people who struggle with the cardio bit will struggle more though, as it is more demanding in that respect IMO.

BusyMissIzzy · 17/09/2010 09:39

Ahem. Fused spine in his neck? I should have said "fused vertebrae", obviously. The Shred must be affecting my brain Blush

Joby, that is a lovely thing to hear Grin Level 2 day 8 done... have visitors staying tonight so won't be doing it tomorrow, but I think a day of rest will probably be a good thing since I've been exercising every day recently.

MumInBeds · 17/09/2010 10:32

Day 4 done. I think I need to start wearing big knickers when I shred though, holding onto a wobbly tum during butt kicks is probably bad form! Grin

prettybird · 17/09/2010 15:13

I've done Day 8 of Level 1.

The first couple of days my arsm were shaking for the rest of the time and it felts like I had brising between my boobs and my upper arms. and I was only using 1kg weights and the "easy" press-ups Blush

However, I find the cardio and the abs work OK - probably 'cos I have run in the past and I have been doing a weekly Pilates class for the last 10+ years.

Essentially, I have crap upper body strength GrinBlush

I have now started using 2kg for the "fly" exercises :) - but am still grmiacing towards the end of the squat/arm raises in Circuit 1 and the side lunges/anterior arm raises in circuit 3.

But I am still doing it! :)

tulpe · 17/09/2010 18:55

I have just been thinking of a million and one excuses not to shred before my friends arrive for drinks at 8pm......

Thank you ladies for making me get off my ass and get my trainers on :o

Missed yesterday due to v busy day so am doing Day 4 of Level 1 today :)

Do you guys take a break for a day or do you exercise every day for 30 days?

MumInBeds · 17/09/2010 20:02

Well done tulpe, we are on the same day, maybe we should cheer each other on.
