Joby/justaminute: I cycle (15 miles) or spin (45 min class) 5 days per week so my legs are strong but this engaged some different leg muscles as inner thighs feel tight.

Have just done Level 1, Day 2, was no easier/harder today, still find ab stuff hard and my pressups are pathetic.

Again I did it as soon as I got home, was still warm through from cycling, the time does go very quick.

Do people have rest days with this? I always have one or two days without any exercise to let my body recover but it sounds like you should do this daily?

Joby1970 · 13/08/2010 14:28

it gets better Grin

Joby1970 · 13/08/2010 14:31

HEA - I did about 8 days before I had a rest day - I think I got a bit addicted! I think its probably best just to listen to your own body. Because you are changing the exercises so much you can do the whole 30 days without a break..

thumbwitch · 13/08/2010 14:32

HEA - I didn't have a rest day deliberately - I was prevented, I tell you, from doing it by my DS. He wouldn't go to sleep so I laid down beside him and... dozed off. Until 4:30am, which is no time to be doing anything.

thumbwitch · 14/08/2010 13:14

the DVD is on - waiting for me to select Level 1 - and I am procrastinating here on MN. Someone make me go and press Play!

thumbwitch · 14/08/2010 13:50

OK, I did it.
Can feel the difference again - can now do the butt kicks (second round anyway) with jumping, although only the low level ones. The abs are getting easier too - I think some long-lost muscles are being awoken from their deep-frozen slumber!

well done Sprogger and thumbwitch

As far as weights go i started by using 1kgs for everything and then on the easier ones i upped it to 1.5kgs and now i do all exercises with 1.5kg. I need to get some heavier ones now.

thumbwitch · 14/08/2010 15:02

Am still using 400g cans of beans Blush. It's not taxing my arms at all really (but then they are pretty good in the general scheme of things) so I need to get bigger weights. I have 1kg bags of flour but using them could be awkward.

detoxdiva · 14/08/2010 18:46

I'm back into it after a 1 day lapse on Thursday - worked late and just could not muster the motivation at 9pm. Tonight will be day 7 on level 2, and it's getting easier. Am using 2kg weights and can really see more definition in my arm muscles already, even thought those blimmin' v-raises and squats nearly finish me off Grin

happilyeverafter · 14/08/2010 18:54

Day three was easier than first two. Calves, inner thighs are tight and stomach muscles hurt when I sneeze or laugh.

Tomorrow is usually a rest day, have a trip out planned so will see how it goes and decide then if to leave it a day or not.

Tortoise · 14/08/2010 22:48

Day 25 WO 3Grin Just 5 days left of the hell that is WO 3! Then i will have just over a weeks rest before starting again after hols.
Got complimented today and asked if i had lost weight. Grin Made me feel so good.

Gosh - eveyone is doing so well!

Just done day three and found it quite easy compared to day one - how long should I stay on level 2 for? a week?

The only exercise I have difficulty with is the side lunge with arm raises - my arms are just so weak.
I'm using 1.25kg weights - is that enough? I don't want anything too heavy as I don't want to bulk up.

Also - I have a layer of flab all over my body - will this dvd burn the flab as well as build muscle? I don't want to just end up with muscle under the flab :o

Am thinking about starting the dukan diet as well - not sure how wise it would be to combine the two?

detoxdiva · 15/08/2010 12:52

Dr - I'm in the same boat - arms looking more toned when I tense or lift ds, but generally still hidden by my bingo wings Grin Think that applies to my tummy - underneath the fat is a rippling six pack for sure Grin

The advice is to do 10 days on each level - good luck!

Tortoise · 15/08/2010 13:33

My muscles are hidden under flab too Grin. But hopefully less than there was 2 months ago.

Can I ask is it really worth getting this DVD?

Out of shape after having a baby who is now nearly 10 months.

I used to be fit and run well but I am now all flab!

Tortoise · 15/08/2010 13:40

Sleepypjs Yes i think it is worth getting. This is the only exercise DVD i have managed to keep up with doing regularly. Probably because it only takes 20 mins!

OP posts:
sleepypjs · 15/08/2010 13:51

ok dokey, I will try it. Thanks!

thumbwitch · 15/08/2010 13:57

oh oh, I am bad, so bad. I Can't do it tonight, I really can't - DS has left his toy railway all over the floor (in a circuit) and I would have to clear it all away first, then do the Shred DVD and all of this without falling asleep which is imminent,,,

Tortoise · 15/08/2010 16:49

thumbwitch I feel your pain. I have to tidy the floor nearly every night before i can shred. On the plus side, i wake up to a tidy room!! Grin

Day 26 WO 3 done!
I was tempted to take a day off but i want to finish my 30 days before going away so i forced myself through it (as a bonus i got DD's to tidy up before bed! More stressful than doing it myself though!).

OP posts:
notyummy · 16/08/2010 08:05

Drspech - 1.25kg is fine if you are not a regular exerciser/just getting back into it. Those arm raise things are a nightmare aren't they?

Bear in mind though, that you have to lift really quite heavy weights before you bulk up. Lots of women avoid weights because of it, but you have to put slinging around proper heavy barbells before that kicks in - the osrt of weights you can only lift 4/5 times. Don't use it as an excuse to avoid moving up to 2/2.5kg - you won't be Arnie at those sorts of weight, I promise!!

LostGirl · 16/08/2010 08:11

The vast majority of women will not bulk up even when lifting heavy weights. I did the shred back in January and then switched to weight training, doing between four and 12 reps so that I'm training muscles to gain strength and endurance. Since starting I have gone from a 14 to a 10, definitely not bulky, just leaner Smile. It is such a shame that it is still the norm for women to think they shouldn't lift heavy weights when there is much benefit to be had from it.

DrSpechemin · 16/08/2010 13:19

Great - will carry on at that weight then.
I sprung out of bed this morning after doing day 3 yesterday - no muscle aches at all.
Will do day 4 this afternoon.
