Hello all, Just got my dvd yesterday and am planning to start tomorrow.(Got 2 stone to shift, planning to to this dvd and cross trainer on alternate days)

I don't have any weights at the moment though, what could I use as an alternative?

Wish me luck?

notyummy · 08/08/2010 14:42

Would start with cans of food or bottles of water - but realistically you need weights to properly challenge youeslf.

You can get cheap ones from Argos/Tesco etc

Tortoise · 08/08/2010 14:48

Agree with notyummy. Bottles of water probably the easiest.

Oh My God!!!!!

Just done day 1 of level 2 and I am going to die. Someone tell me it gets easier Shock

Jillian got a well deserved 'Fuck Off' everytime she said get into the plank position again.

notyummy · 08/08/2010 20:09

Detox - the transition to level 2 is hard, I agree. I think it is worse than 2 to 3.

The more you do it, the easier it will get!

Tortoise · 08/08/2010 20:12

detox It does get easier. Smile Takes a while though lol! I hate plank poses!

Really not looking forward to WO 3 again tonight! Grin

But on a positive, i tried on some old trousers that i found in the back of my draws. Size 12 Shock and i could actually do them up. Just couldn't bend lol! But hopefully won't be long before they do fit. Grin 2 months ago, i wouldn't have got them past my knees!

tortoise & notyummy - that's good to know. I've finally stopped sweating but will stick with it - got a spa day in 2 weeks time and I'd quite like to look a little less wobbly in my swimsuit Grin

justaminute · 08/08/2010 21:19

notyummy I took a leaf out of your book and did Levels 2 and 3 back to back.

My attempt at level 3 was a bit half hearted my mind was telling my body that it had done it's exercise session for the day so I didn't complete a full set of reps each time. (Jillian would not be proud).

I'm still going to claim it as 2 days worth of shredding so that I can complete the 30 days before my hols. Wink

notyummy · 08/08/2010 22:13

navyeyelasH · 09/08/2010 10:07

I have recovered tortoise yes, only just though!

I skipped my shred yesterday so day 3 for me today. If you do 2 back to back does it really "count" as 2 days worth of shredding?

justaminute · 09/08/2010 10:42

In my book it does! I have no spare days to complete the Shred before hols otherwise Sad

navyeyelasH · 09/08/2010 10:55

Ok so I have 16 days tills holiday and I only need to tone really. So I could do 2 a day? Do they have to be back to back or just 2 in a day.

I'm going to need a holiday after all this! I'm glad it's easy to remember as I'm going to keep doing it whilst I'm away!

justaminute · 09/08/2010 11:24

I'm not one for the science of exercise - I don't know if doing the program in 15 days is as effective as doing it in 30 but I'm sure there has to be some benefit.

I'm only planning on the one back to back session to keep myself on track. I WILL do it every night from now.

good on you for planning to do it on holiday, my intentions aren't so good!

thumbwitch · 09/08/2010 15:18

Ha! Finally my DVD has arrived so I can start in the morning!
I have no weights yet either. But I think I would probably die if I started off with weights so will start with 1kg bags of flour and see how I go (yes I have two - I stockpiled them)

Any tips on how not to die the first day? Or do I just go for it? [fear]

notyummy · 09/08/2010 15:24

Just keep remembering that it is only 20 minutes. That is not long at all.

And that all those people that fanny around with gentle Lorraine Kelly et al exercise DVDs are kidding themselves....it takes a certain amount of physical suffering to achieve a noticeable result IMHO!

thumbwitch · 09/08/2010 15:27

I've never done an exercise DVD thing before at all - am just going straight in at the deep end with this .

I declare now that I need to lose a minimum of a stone, pref 1.5 stone. Mostly from around my midriff, where it lurks like an alien invader.

navyeyelasH · 09/08/2010 16:32

"Any tips on how not to die the first day? Or do I just go for it? [fear] "

Don't do all the hard moves at 100 miles an hour like I did as you will suffer. Badly!

dillinger · 09/08/2010 16:40

Ive been slacking I must say. Dont think Ive done it since last weds or thurs Blush Im still finding it awkward to fit in at a time where I can have a bit of peace to do it.

I usually like to get things done first thing - early runs etc and when I tried doing the shred after I got back I thought it was probably too much. I guess I need to try in the evenings whilst dp does the childrens bath etc? Only thing is Id need to make sure Id left enough time between eating dinner and then doing it.

What are others doing? How are you fitting it in?

pissedrightoff · 09/08/2010 16:41

THUMBWITCH- I'm starting tomorrow too, want to buddy up and compare notes/pain/progress????

thumbwitch · 09/08/2010 16:49

Thank you, notyummy and navyeyelasH - will report back when I've done the first one (if I can still move...)

detoxdiva · 09/08/2010 21:48

Good luck thumbwitch - take it steady at first and build it up. I found my endurance on level 1 improved quite quickly!

Just done day 2 of level 2 and still feel like I want to die Grin Am really feeling it in my arms and shoulder which I think is the result of my new weights and that horrendous plank move Grin

Have also just ordered the 10 minute solution pilates dvd to target my tummy even more - put it on after my shred and managed a whole 5 minutes Blush Think that's being a tad optimistic!

kkey21 · 09/08/2010 22:32

Just completed Day 1 of level 1

I ideally would like to shift 14-21lb thereabouts? How realistic is this and how long until results show?

My diet is generally good so really going for it.

notyummy · 09/08/2010 22:36

Realistic if combined with careful diet - and maybe trying to fit some extra walking/general other exercise in wherever you can?

The Shred will tone you and build muscle so you burn more calories in general. Won't compensate for overeating, but it sounds like you have got that sorted at the moment!

kkey21 · 09/08/2010 22:40

Yes i am careful, usually fail slightly at a weekend but really am determined to loose my final bit now and put an end to the moaning about feeling heavy!
My thighs are crying out to be toned-hurray.

I will be a regular on here now guaranteed! x
