Thanks Tortoise. I'm planning on starting again tomorrow, I actually enjoy it. I'm looking forward to going back to Level 1 - don't think "it'll be a walk in the park" but its going to be a welcome relief after 10 days of level 3.

Tortoise · 18/07/2010 22:47

I quite enjoy it too but still struggle to get around to doing it every night, partly because i want to watch things on TV!!

Haven't shredded tonight but i did climb to the top of a climbing wall at a local fun day event today! Very scary lol!

Well done justaminute! Excellent results.

I did Level 1 this morning, which was a bit of a relief as was feeling very tired. Easier to convince myself to get out of bed when it is "only" Level 1. It doesn't get me as exhausted as 2 and 3 but doing cardio with weights makes it much tougher.

Right, back to good eating now...tried to atone for my sins with a big salad for dinner last night but think it is going to take alot more than that!!

justaminute · 19/07/2010 10:03

tortoise i know what you mean about the TV. During the week I've got myself into a good routine, I get shredding once the dcss are in bed. Dh usually gets in from work whilst I'm mid shred and he'll start cooking (if I'm lucky) else I do it once I've shredded - having just exercised usually means I eat better too.

If there is something on the box I want to watch I set the DVD to record it. Then I watch it later skipping through the ad breaks/boring bits (makes for good time management!) more often than not I never get around to watching what I've recorded so I guess I didn't really want to watch it in the first place.

Squidmission · 19/07/2010 19:42

Well done Justaminute!

I am waiting for ds1 to go to bed then I'll shred. I didn't do any on the weekend but I did go to a spin class on Sat am.

TartyMcFarty · 19/07/2010 20:03

Day 7 wasn't nice!

justaminute · 19/07/2010 20:11

Just done my Shred, Dh is cooking, I get to mumsnet cool down...result!

I was exercising in a crop top tonight and caught sight of myself in the mirror. My pot belly seems to be starting lower down and I have a line of, dare I say it...definition(!)from the middle of my boobs to the top of my pot belly IYKWIM. Please indulge me, is this the start of a six pack?

jooseyfruit · 19/07/2010 20:41

sounds like it justaminute. Good work!

My six pack is hidden under a layer of flab, but I know it's there!

Squidmission · 19/07/2010 21:48

Justaminute of course it is!
It will be revealed soon, I'm sure. Keep working at it...

Have just shredded. I am soaked in unladylike perspiration.

jooseyfruit · 20/07/2010 09:07

surely you are glowing Squidmission!.

I am sweating like a bloody horse today, dripping off my nose and everything

yummytummy · 20/07/2010 13:54

hi everyone, can i join in? i started the shred few weeks ago and did it for 10 days then we went away and since we got back am finding it hard to get back into it. my question is can you do it 4-5 times a week or does it have to be every day? just with work and ds etc not always able to do every day. also i find doing same level 1 routine every day a bit repetitive but not sure if ready for level 2 yet. aaargh! feel bad as sounds like most of you do it every day and dont think i can!

newstart2010 · 20/07/2010 14:12

Just done level 2 shred, and i am really sweating...

I have not shredded for 4 days before today

I like doing it but just sometimes feel busy....

yummytummy - would also be interested to know if it is still effictive if you do it 4-5 times per week. I'm sure it will be as i sweat alot doing it, more then i do with a normal work out at the gym.

If you are bored of level 1 i would move onto level 2, I didnt find it unbearable, i moved on after only 3 days at level 1.

Watch level 2, then you will probably want to move on...

Squidmission · 20/07/2010 21:04

I was shredding (no other exercise) 4-5 times a week and it definitely worked!
I've cut down to about 3 (try to do 4) times a week now as I go spinning, running and play tennis.

Tortoise · 20/07/2010 21:48

Failing to shred again!
Planned to tonight despite spending the day shopping and walking miles!
But, this evening, i seem to have come down with a cold. Nose is running like a tap. Can't see me shredding now.
Just how much snot can one nose produce in one evening!

Sometimes you just need a day off...yesterday was that day for me! Just could not drag myself out of bed. I blame the weather. But leaped out of bed this morning for Level 2 so a rest day obviously did me some good.

I am thinking about signing up for a 5km run so am contemplating replacing 2 shred days during the week with a run instead...undecided about whether this would be a good move or not...

I am sure previous posters have reported good results doing the shred 5 days a week. The way I see it, it's better than not doing it at all!

franke · 21/07/2010 09:30

I actually manage better if I don't do it every day . Every other day would be my ideal and I've pretty much averaged that over the last month or so. I'm definitely getting results, also helped by eating less in this hot weather. I've lost about 6 inches all over, not including my arms (didn't measure them at the beginning) and I feel much fitter generally. I'm not just doing this for a 30 day fix, I intend to carry on and slowly get myself back into shape.

Squidmission · 21/07/2010 09:47

I shredded at 7am today.
Personally, I find that I'm still getting results shredding 3-4 days a week but I am doing other exercise.

yummytummy · 21/07/2010 13:51

thats great that you can shred so early. dont know if i could face it first thing! do you then eat breakfast after? i think i would find it hard without food first!

am struggling to stay motivated. every day just seems hard and even though have been doing it for about 5-6 days havent noticed any difference in size yet. am trying to be sensible with food though. how do you keep going?

newstart2010 · 21/07/2010 15:15

I shredded again today, i have stopped going to the gym to shred as feel my body will ache too much to shred if i go to the gym.

I think i will have to go to the gym as well.

Tortoise · 21/07/2010 20:46

I want to shred tonight but sure i am up to it. Have a really bad cold. My head feels congested and full of snot (TMI!).

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 21/07/2010 22:08

I've been a bit hopeless this week I'm afraid - haven't shredded or gymmed since my last post late last week.
Been pre-occupied with holiday preps, and I find once I get into headless chicken mode everything else falls by the wayside.
It's funny, I find the opposite to Newstart; my gym sessions ease my aching back, but shredding seems to aggravate it, although it wasn't as bad the last time so maybe I'm getting used to it.
Still slowly losing weight, so that's good - aiming for about 100g every couple of days, so nothing drastic but at least I know it's in the right direction.
That reminds me, I've got a body wrap thing, as recommended by Vanessa Feltz, which I keep forgetting to use - must wrap myself up this weekend!

newstart2010 · 21/07/2010 22:26

Tortoise - if you are feeling so unwell i would leave it, you always do so wsell, so would not worry about missing it for a day or two.

whatswrong - maybe its because the dvd is working your back alot, what level are you on?

I think level 2 works the back alot, and i'm alittle concerned as Jillian said she is working the back to make it give the illusion of a smaller waist to by making the back bigger.

My back is very toned so do not want to tone it anymore...

Tortoise · 21/07/2010 23:04

Thanks Newstart No shred for me tonight. Starting to get a cough tonight too which isn't good. Am feeling a bit wheezy and tight chested (mildly asthmatic!). Hopefully back to shredding soon. The other down side as that i am eating worse! Ate nearly a whole tube of pringles earlier !

Hi WhatsWrongWithYou. Can you tell me more about this body wrap. Desperately looking for ways to reduce my grim post c-s tummy. I am like a lot of you in that I can't Shred every day. Tuesdays for a start is out as I go to Slimming World (AKA Fatfighters). DH also gets slightly grumpy at being chucked out of the living room every night.

Joby1970 · 22/07/2010 08:12

SBOL - just remind DH when he gets grumpy that you'll be even nicer to hold in the bedroom when you've felt the effects of the Shred!! lol
