New thread before old one is full.

OP posts:

Tarty - those weights sounds heavy! I'm using 1kgs and finding some of the exercises tough - but if you are quite fit and strong already then I would think 2.5 was fine.

Squid - have you done it? Jillian will track you down and kick your arse if you haven't

I feel really stiff this evening - need to stretch before bed.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/07/2010 22:25

Squid x-posts! Well done You will sleep like a log now!

jooseyfruit · 12/07/2010 22:27

Jillian gets really bad reviews for her kettlebell technique on biggest loser i.e: dangerous, could break a wrist!

I am thinking again about getting the DVD as the general consensus amongst the kettlebell community seem to be that Jillian is jumping on the kb bandwagon not doing a great job.

bugger.

TartyMcFarty · 13/07/2010 08:53

Gah! Do I need a kettlebell too? think I might use the bar from DH's dumbells on its own if 2.5kg will be too heavy.

Kettlebell is on the new DVD not out in the USA til Autumn. I believe you don't have to use one anyway. You can look online re loads of videos on how to use KB's properly. So I think I'll still get the DVD when its out. Is anyone watching the new Biggest loser on Sky 1?

on a proud aside - I managed to use the same weights as my instructor for most of bodypump @ the gym last night (however it did nearly kill me lol)

TartyMcFarty · 13/07/2010 13:59

Oh I so miss BodyPump. I cancelled my gym membership when I was pregnant. Ah well, shressing and DIY spin will sort me out.

Did my first session today. Found it challenging but doable, but now I've finished my legs are like jelly

Joby1970 · 13/07/2010 14:00

Tarty - yep thats how they're mant to feel - may also feel like that tomorrow - but you can still do the workout lol.

jooseyfruit · 13/07/2010 15:07

oh well that's good if you don't need to use a kettlebell.

I was really looking forward to the new DVD, may check out the reviews it gets in the US before buying though.

Am starting second cycle of shred, on day 2 of level 1 again but using 3 kg weights this time.

Arse is deffo firmer and looks better.

Will be cracking walnuts betwixt bum cheeks before the summer is out!

TartyMcFarty · 14/07/2010 08:51

Oh my God, I feel brilliant. Achey, yes, but raring to go. Can't wait to do it again later

Am still shredding, all levels done once so far this week! Felt absurdly low on energy this morning and could barely launch myself off the ground for rock star jumps but somehow battled through it.

Interesting about Jillian and kettlebells...have noted and will take on board when the new DVD comes out. Hopefully she has improved her technique for the DVD. But I just can't be negative about Jillian! The Shred is too awesome!

Squidmission · 14/07/2010 12:27

Ruby and Joosey I can't imagine using 3kg! I'm sure my arms would fall off. Hats off.

Lol at 'I want you to feel like youre gonna die'. She is strict and scary - just what I need!

I didn't have time to shred today but I'm playing tennis later so am aiming for an early shred tomorrow.

racmac · 14/07/2010 13:40

Back again

Have just finished day 5 level 1 and enjoying trying again!

Looking forward to new DVD - will this be just in region 1 DVD or the ones suitable for UK.

What weights does everyone else use? Im using 1kg and for some exercise 1.5kg.

Joby1970 · 14/07/2010 14:23

i use 2Kg & 5Kg KB for the clean & press. I think it'll be a region 1 but nothing says anything about it yet

TartyMcFarty · 14/07/2010 14:59

Day 2 done. Ouch!

newstart2010 · 14/07/2010 18:58

you are all doing so well, i did 2 days then have not done it for two days, i really need to do it tonight, i feel very naughty.

TartyMcFarty · 14/07/2010 19:34

Get on with it, newstart!

newstart2010 · 14/07/2010 20:40

He he, I just did it, 3rd time of level 1, I'm thinking I might move onto level 2 tomorrow, do you think it will be too soon? I ache after level 1 b ut feel I could possibly do more...

chocolategal · 14/07/2010 22:09

Hi again everyone

Newstart- I did 6 days of level 1 and was finding it fairly easy.
Did level 2 yesterday & oh my god I thought I was going to die..........didn't put me off doing it again today though

newstart2010 · 14/07/2010 22:37

i think i will give it a try...

so to any of you out there that have had good results have you changed your diet too?

jooseyfruit · 15/07/2010 07:29

I've had good results, don't know if I've lost weight (try not to weigh myself) but feel so much trimmer and firmer.

Main lifestyle change for me has been stopping drinking during the week (voddie and diet coke at the weekend if I must have a drink)

also cutting out bread, pasta, spuds etc.

Joby1970 · 15/07/2010 08:17

I found doing all the press ups & plank stuff meant my boobs lifted amongst other things.

Squidmission · 15/07/2010 09:24

Shredded at 7am today! Such an excellent way to start the day

Newstart I've already completed the shred once. The first time I didn't really diet. I tried to watch what I ate but wasn't really committed to dieting. I lost 5lbs but looked so much trimmer. Dh was so impressed and was amazed at how much my body had changed.

This time, I've joined weight watchers too and am hoping for dramatic changes
I've also taken up tennis and running so sometimes I go too long without shredding but I'm really trying to make an effort to do it 4 mornings a week.
I'm quite active but I've only ever had amazing body changing effect with Shred.

newstart2010 · 15/07/2010 15:04

joseyfruit - i bet cutting out bread etc really helped too. i'm feeling firmer already after 4 shreds... lol but was working out before i started shredding.

joby - i could defintly do with boobs lifting

agree with you squidmission I shredded around the same time and feeling good today, 1st day of level 2 and felt really good

oh glad you lost weight during 1st shred, I hope i do. but i think i eat way too many carbs. I know if i stopped eating them my belly would be much smaller but i love carbs way too much, and i know i will have to start eating them again at some stage...
