More dress help needed.

I have this dress and I like it but I'm struggling as to what shoes to wear with it. It's a bit of an awkward length. I've got in in the green.

Any advice welcome, fashionistas.

BariatricObama · 07/05/2010 18:31

you could make your own hummous. i used to make it with low fat yogurt instead of oil

MamaG · 07/05/2010 18:31

hello all

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 18:33

Not so keen on homemade humous.

Precisely because of the lack of oil

BariatricObama · 07/05/2010 18:35

the houmous is just enabling the oil. you could just swig from a bottle of virgin olive oil.

hi mamag!

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 18:41

I sometimes put it on pasta.

Very good bottle of extra virgin, delicious and very good for skin and hair.

Any thoughts on that dress?

BariatricObama · 07/05/2010 18:44

bobbie - i want to get my hair cut like the woman wearing that dress. you could embrace the land girl vibe adn go brogue, or chunky heels.

BariatricObama · 07/05/2010 18:45

just ate one of the muffins - it was amazing.

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 18:46

very few folk have commented opnmy weight loss really...but as I am tall I dont think it shows so much mores the pity

vintage 2 stone gone, thats amazing. I ahve the 'oh dont lose anymore' from my Mum (16 stone) She is a competitve dieter

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 18:47

My hair is a bit like that, but red and not as nice.

I don't think I'm young/thin enough for brogues. Would look like a capable auntie who "has never found the right man"

I bought it with half a mind to toughening it up with biker boots, but it's a bit too long. And summer.

I have some Repetto mary janes with a heel - tights?

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 18:49

hmm bobs that dress is a tricky one. Brogues run the risk of looking Miss Marpleish

I think I might go peep toe 50's style

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 18:51

not exactly right but you see what I mean

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 18:53

Hmm, could work.

But couldn't wear peep toe with tights, could I? Unless they were brightly coloured - which won't work with the dress.

Have I bought another dog of a dress?

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 18:56

or go for it with wedges

why do you ahve to wear tights?

smallishsheep · 07/05/2010 18:58

yy cyb, it's always the heftier people who say not to lose anymore. I went through ages wishing someone, anyone would notice, and then once pne person did, they all bloody did and I actually hated it. The most comment was 'you're so lucky to have lost all that weight.' Nothing lucky about it fatso, just put that bun down

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 18:59

Those wedges are ace.

Because my legs are so white they could probably be classed as a shade of blue.

And for some reason fake tan doesn't take on me.

I try and be all Sophie Dahl about it and embrace my white skin...but I don't look like Sophie Dahl. I just look lumpy and white.

So summer is An Issue for me.

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 19:01

yeah my Mum wrote a litle thing about me for my 40th and said I was 'enviably tall and slim' which on the surface, is a lovely thing to write.(But also a bit nuts, if you knew my Mother) Tall? I was born tall just about. And slim? It don't just HAPPEN LADY

JackBauerIsZonerrific · 07/05/2010 19:05

BAD BO!

Welcome vintage.

Re no bastard noticing, I keep 'mentioning' I have lost over a stone and people look me up and down and then smile a smile that screams 'Oh who are you kidding you poor deluded fool'

Bitches.

Lol'd at 'Nothing lucky about it fatso, just put that bun down '

smallishsheep · 07/05/2010 19:11

bobbie, I think the dress is a bit highcut. You need to flash some chest to avoid the spinster aunty look I think.

Are you near a Primark? They have some v pretty dresses not dissimilar. And you could spend the difference on booze. Or shoes. If the neckline was lower, there'd be no problem with brogues or heels imo.

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 19:18

Yes, it's the neckline - requires sexing up with slaggy shoes.

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 19:19

We don't have a primark

Mind you, primarky type stuff looks crap on me. I require Sturdy Seams.

pointydog · 07/05/2010 19:20

pink shoes

green sandals

teally sandals

trying to think about your dress, bobs.

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 19:22

Argh!

I slung a pair of green wedge sandals this week that would probably be perfect!

They're in the skip on our drive!

Shall I go and get them out of the skip?

Urgh.

bobbiewickham · 07/05/2010 19:23

Some nice shoes there, pointy.

Think I'm getting an idea of what to do.

Dh has gone to forage in the skip for me

DukesOfTripHazard · 07/05/2010 19:28

Jack I see your LOL at 'Nothing lucky about it fatso, just put that bun down' but raise you (feck no idea on poker style spik) on your very own 'Oh who are you kidding you poor deluded fool'.

Bobbie Cyb is undoubtedly you enviably stylish (and tall) shoe friend but I saw the dress and thought grey suede flat pump. Lordy, say it again: grey suede flat pump. Actually, the lady in the non-green version looks like she may have just let a grey suede flat pump go.

Chibi, something you said was 'larious. No. It's gone.
