Hi, I have started the Dukan Diet. Managed to get thru day 1. Anyone else trying it? What do you think ?

How are you all doing?
Day 3 here.

Bought some of the most lovely plump Scottish scallops and proper king prawns and some fish from the fishmonger, and some nicer fresh meat from great butcher and feeling better about the food. (Although it does make you realise carbs are cheap!)

Have eaten tofu too, but can't find the blinking oat bran in the supermarket!

Mingg · 09/06/2010 13:31

Try Holland & Barrett for oat bran, that's where I got mine.

itstimmytime · 09/06/2010 15:06

My resolve is weakening! My toddler woke at 1.30am then slept on my face until it was time to get up. Very restful! Then I had cat sick to clean up. Then I was late for work. Normally at times like this, I would turn to starchy carbs to get me through! I have skived off early and the bread bin is calling my name...

Week 3 and I am meant to be on a pp day, but have had salad and chicken in tomato sauce - was out with client and they looked best options. Also had some fruit salad last night (It was gorgeous!). Think I'll make thurs and Fri pp and then have 2x pv at the weekend. Make sense? What's everyone elso doing, day about or 5 on/5 off?

M&S have some good deals on nibbly things - prawns, bacon strips, smoked salmon flakes and slices, chicken bits, prawn and crab cocktail etc all on 3 for a fiver. The pancakes (or should I say mush? Does anyone's resemble a pancake?) with the flaked smoked salmon makes them edible.

Hi, I have now been on holiday for a week. I kept the diet up for most of the time but had a few treats.

Now back on the attack phase for 10 days to compensate. Lost 23 pounds in the first 5 weeks. Hoping to lose a further 20 pounds in the next 6/8 weeks.

I ditched the bran and the weight came off quicker. I thought I would struggle this week after sugar last week but I have been fine.

I will weight myself in a few days and update you all.

I am in my second week and have lost 9lbs. Admittedly only a quarter of the weight i need to lose though!

bratnav · 09/06/2010 19:39

Third day today, got on the scales this morning and have lost 1.5kg

bratnav · 09/06/2010 19:39

Well done westy

kolacubes · 09/06/2010 19:49

Okay a friend told me today I could have dairy - I didn't!!! I told her no you couldn't she said yes, Dukan allows diet.

Have I completely misread something? I've not got the book I'm going from the (whispers) Daily Mail website.

bratnav · 09/06/2010 19:52

kola, fat free dairy is fine

kolacubes · 09/06/2010 20:03

I said I thought that was the case as in 0 fat free yoghurt, skimmed milk - I said that's not dairy in anyone's book

bratnav · 09/06/2010 20:04

agreed kola Skimmed white water is eeeeeurgh

bratnav · 10/06/2010 10:50

another kg gone

Angeebob · 10/06/2010 13:33

I started Dukan Diet two days ago and have been quite 'religious' about following the rules. The oat bran Galettes are lovely and go great with a pot of vanilla muller lite yogurt for breakfast. Also made the meatloaf from the Diet book which was really nice. Making it again tonight - made a 'sauce' to go with it out of fat free plain yogurt and tomato puree. I've lost 6 lbs in two days so I'm a convert!

Angeebob · 10/06/2010 13:40

Just noticed a comment back up in this thread about the pancakes being 'mush'. I have made the pancakes exactly as per the instructions in the book and I have to say they are perfect pancakes every time. I make a batch of four at a time (my partner is following Dukan as well) and have mine cold with a yogurt for breakfast. Very filling.

kolacubes · 10/06/2010 18:46

How much damage will a treat size milky way do?

I've been following this diet strictly (except one night of lamb as didn't realise that was banned) for 11 days now.

Tonight I really want chocolate .

Talk me away from it tell me I don't need it.

gottaloseweightjen · 10/06/2010 18:50

hello girls - just found this forum and think it is a brilliant support tool.

I started on Sunday and down about 7lb so far.

Really enjoying my marinated chicken and home made burgers and not even missing alcohol (yet although that'll all change no doubt at the weekend...

Ready for bed and quite tired, although could be something to do with 2 small children climbing into bed with me last night

Are we allowed balsamic vinegar in the attack phase?

bratnav · 10/06/2010 19:37

yy to balsamic vinegar

gottaloseweightjen · 10/06/2010 19:47

treat size milky way sounds like very bad news, will it stop at one?

bratnav · 10/06/2010 20:01

Don't do it! If I can walk past Millies cookies then you can skip a Milky Way, you will only be annoyed and guilty with yourself after you eat it.

kolacubes · 10/06/2010 20:15

Ok i'm relatively proud of myself - i thought if i didn't give into screaming chocolate I would eat a kg bar of dairy milk. I sucked one milky way magic star to death, and gave the rest of the mini packet to the children.

And that was enough to suffice my craving.

Today is a PVC day . Tomorrow is P only.

Showmeheaven · 10/06/2010 20:43

Hi everyone, just finished my first week, I lost 5lbs. I stuck to it completely so I'm a tiny bit disapointed I didn't lose more especially after reading someone else is down 6lbs in 2 days!! I know I shouldn't compare but

Anyway, I'm happy that it has taken my cravings away, I'm not hungry at all, which is a miracle. The reason I give up most diets is because I'm starving, but not on this Its also really easy to stick to and I'm really enjoying the food (unlike Atkins).

Good luck to everyone for the week ahead (and weekend!)

AbsOfCroissant · 10/06/2010 23:03

Hello!

Well, I started this on monday. According to the calculations on the website, I had to do two days of attack, then FORTY NINE of cruise (freaking hell) and then other stuff.

As lame as this sounds, I really struggled through the attack. I don't normally eat meat that often (I eat kosher, so I'm limited to kosher meat, low fat dairy and fish), so really found that a struggle. On the second day, I had two eggs for breakfast, half a piece of salmon for lunch, and that was it. I couldn't eat any more. third day was p&v and I have never been so happy to see a salad in all my life.

This morning though, I had a really rough time and nearly completely gave up. I didn't have time to cook breakfast (I was thinking of doing 1pp 1pv, so today would have been pp), so just had coffee. I was feeling really hot (does this mean it's working?), got to work, and then felt hot, cold, hot cold, started shaking, then nauseous and then threw up. Has anyone else had this? I just thought "screw this", went and had an orange juice (verboten) and vegetable soup, which helped stop the shaking and nausea. Has this happened to anyone else? Or is it because I'm in the process of looking for a new home and stressed out? Also, no constipation issues, quite the opposite ...

gottaloseweightjen · 11/06/2010 07:18

missing breakfast and being stressed and busy not good - can you not grab a yoghurt and fling in your oats for breakfast.

Poor you - hope you feel better today

MarshaBrady · 11/06/2010 12:16

Abs I had a reaction the morning after day 1. Had the shakes, no energy and could barely shower and get dc to school (dh was bemused). So I had a quick apple and pear, then it passed and I've been fine and had more energy than usual.

Hope you are feeling better (I hate throwing up didn't do that, that is quite a big reaction).

Still going well, no scales here, but dh told me I am shrinking!

Bit bored of protein but it does suppress the appetite.

Miggsie · 11/06/2010 12:25

Hello all, I'm on week 7 and eating chickpeas with tofu sausages...not great, but it fills you up.

My bras are all now too loose, I can fit in trousers that have not fitted since before I had DD...my knickers are baggy...once I'm down to my target it's a new set of underwear for me!

Also, strangely, all the stomach and bowel problems I've had since last year have now gone.

Oh, and last week I went away for the half term and ate ECCLES CAKES then SCONES with CLOTTED CREAM.

But now straight back to the proper diet and still losing weight so 2 days of splurge has easily been corrected.

Oh, and I am doing the 30 mins of excercise each day.
