Thanks all - can't be maudlin though. Mum would tell me to get over it.

Now Chibi,

I do have carbs but only low GI ones so wholemeal bread and pasta. I do try to avoid carbs if poss though. So I would replace 1/2 slice of bread with a boiled or poached egg. I have yoghurt fruit in the mornings because I feel fuller longer.

Get rid of the cuppasoup and replace with Susoup or add smoked salmon/prawns to salad. If you have just salado you will be tempted to snack in the afternoon. You need some protein.

Sausages are not great - go for lean meat or fish and veg. Roast chicken (no skin) is fine.

If I get hungry during they day I have malt loaf (33 cals per slice) or fruit. Corn thins are popular here too.

Jack

Eating less v good. Portion control v important. Not being a farking pig v good too. You need the recipe for Susoup and Aitches bean mash. Drink water!

ZA - was it me or was the Sullivans very brown? I remember the set looked like it had been dipped in chocolate. Probably just childhood trauma.

Have fun at TK Maxx - can only go there if sans DCs. I have need to rummage there - can't concentrate if DC's are pestering me.

BudaisintheZONE · 17/04/2010 09:00

Morning all.

Welcome Jack. Diet drinks are shite. Make you fat.

I seem to have gotten away with my fish and chips confession except for dinkystinky (I think - sorry if I am wrong) saying not too bad. Bud I did eat the batter. And I had a slice of bread.

Back IN ZONE today. Supermarket this morning so will stock up on good stuff. Will make soup for lunch. Chicken and roast veg for dinner I think. Will try and find nice recipes that were mentioned on other thread. Lots of water and maybe a walk if foot blister ok.

Gorgeous sunny day here. Would love to do a long walk along the coast.

dinkystinky · 17/04/2010 09:02

Who was it talking about the strawberry freezer mousses? I remember those - and blardy butterscotch angel delight. Mum went through a phase of trying to do english food once a night and it would be the kievs, peas, carrots and then the mousse or angel delight every week. Once she tried doing pizza but didnt quite get it right - used curried cabbage as a topping instead of cheese

bobbiewickham · 17/04/2010 09:05

Ooh, anyone remember dalesteaks?

Welcome Jack.

You all sound like you're going to have nice days.

Your mum sounds fab, porridge - nice that the sun is shining for her today.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 17/04/2010 09:11

lol @ dinky's mum and curried cabbage. Sounds yum if not on pizza.

ZoneArmatrading · 17/04/2010 09:24

Lamb dalestakes! Yum!

Cheese: "I'll aim for a ham salad". Go girlfriend. Aim for the ham, land among the stars.

Dinky kitchens are exciting and you know it. Enjoy.

Porridge I know exactly what you mean about the Sullivans. Was it that it had sepia photo opening/closing credits?

Right must chivvy and vamoose.

Enjoy the sunshine if you have it. Was really misty when I got up. Thought it was ash.

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/04/2010 09:34

I can't possibly keep up with you biffers.

So had several margaritas lime juices last night and a prawn delish dish but I didn't biff out this time, no starter and no pud.

Shorts are feeling looser today.

Also AF arrived earlier than expected and with less PMS than normal and the need to eat only one small kitkat instead of a whole chocolate factory. Must be a side effect of no coke eating healthily.

Has anyone shouted at you yet Jack? If not then you haven't had a proper welcome. So GIVE UP THE HOT CHOCS YOU HEIFER, IT WONT MAKE YOU HAPPY. Feel motivated now?

Cheese, I hope your mum is ok.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 17/04/2010 09:42

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/04/2010 09:47

Encourage her to spend her whole time on the dance floor Cyb throwing some ridiculous moves. Or guide her to Great Aunt Ethel who is deaf in one ear to keep her company.

Dd is away at a residential sports camp 'up country' at a boarding school. Her mate can't hack it and has come home, amazingly dd has stayed. I miss the brat her.

cyb · 17/04/2010 09:50

thanks master! She is so lovely (loud, but lovely) when she is sober. And a raging bloody nightmare when she's plastered

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2010 09:54

Wagamamas is ok if you just have the ramen soup but IMO it tastes like dishwater. And everyone else is nomming Chicken Katsu Curry and Duck Gyoza. And the ice creams are v v hard to resist.

Ann, how are travel arrangements going for your parents? I am about to spend most of day ringing round for ferry for DH...

AnnDaloozier · 17/04/2010 09:59

no the yaki soba wasnt bad iirc

noddyholder · 17/04/2010 09:59

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2010 10:05

Good about the train booking, anyway. Tell parents to get out of the Zone and buy food!

noddyholder · 17/04/2010 10:08

Surely there will be stuff onboard and they may stop as its quite a long trip.

AnnDaloozier · 17/04/2010 10:09

but i mean. db says its like taking kids... maybea bottle of water! he has sorted the whole thin out - think is at wits end

noddyholder · 17/04/2010 10:13

Why do parents do this My mum decided to drive from London to Brighton on that really snowy day when warnings everywhere. She made it all the way and then her car got stuck by the pier and was just spinning in a circle and my dad had to leave work and drive 30 miles to rescue her!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2010 10:24

DH is as bad, actually. I suspect him of not having charged his mobile up again, because I can't get through. I mean, it's not as if it's important or anything.

And I told him yday to buy a warm cheap blanket for camping out in the eurostar/ferry terminal. 'Why?' he says. 'Where do I buy a blanket from anyway?' ffs, it's Spain, not Outer Mongolia.
