Aitch -was the same in our family - mum the day to day Atilla the mum, but when mild mannered dad read the riot act you well and truly knew you were in the shit (only happened three times in my teenage years but god were they bad...)

bobbiewickham · 16/04/2010 22:03

We'll see...

CrossWords · 16/04/2010 22:20

Had Quorn sausages (my staple). Some Haribo in the day, tho. Other than that, OK I think

dinkystinky · 16/04/2010 22:25

Post Cheese post did a quick search on Ocado for mini-kievs (seeing as DS1 loves button moon and other kids tv from my era suspect he may love 80s style food too from) but all they do is quorn mini kievs - talk about contradiction in terms!

Crosswords - you'd be so proud of me. Sat in meeting for 4 fricking hours this morning with chocolate biscuits right in front of me - and did I eat them? No. Didi I drink my body weight in water and have to run off to the loo zillions of times (including at critical negotiation junctures)? Yes.

CheeeseOnToast · 16/04/2010 22:44

MmeLindt its my mum stranded in Geneva, dont think I noticed anyone else's family stranded...? There are basically no options, all car hire places are either not hiring or closed for the evening , same with coach companies, train companies are all shut for the night, can't organise or book anything for them. Feel rather useless.

Link to birkies again

CheeeseOnToast · 17/04/2010 00:50

quorn mini kievs Dinky? How strange! Why not normal chicken ones? I used to absolutely love those. I also used to adore those strawberry mousses (moussi?!) that you kept in the freezer in individual pots and you could either eat them frozen, my fave, or leave to defrost. Suddenly I'm all nostalgic for 80's food!

I've been good all night. Ate dinner at 8pm, a little late but couldn't be helped, and haven't had a single snack all night. About half a litre of water tho.

Off to bed, if I can sleep over this rumbly tummy !

MamaGlee · 17/04/2010 06:57

what about angel delight (butterscotch) and findus crispy pancakes?

I'm going to see my (gasp, moldie) mate today and am getting a big fat chocolate cake becaseu she's nagged been a good mate recently thorugh some hard times, I MUST BE STRONG

cocolepew · 17/04/2010 07:44

BlimeyMamaG I thought I was up early. Fatten the mOuldie up, we want to be the slim website [breaths in] Hope things are better for you now.

AnnDaloozier · 17/04/2010 07:49

went to bbq with strangers ( mates o dh)
drank adn ate too much meat

JackBauer · 17/04/2010 08:11

Morning all, I have finally reached a limit and decided that today is the day I am going to change.
So far small bowl of alpen, carrot and corainder soup (made yesterday) for lunch and possibly chicken korma with stir fry for tea.
What else do I need to know?

Will you allow me hot chocolate like options type?

I do need to be shouted at, am fat heifer.

cocolepew · 17/04/2010 08:13

ooohhh a new victim friend.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 17/04/2010 08:17

Frazzles, condensed milk and squirty cream are 70's for me. Love angel delight and checked calorie content the other day hoping it might be like instant custard but was about 400 cals per sachet. Going home from school at lunchtime to watch "The Sullivans". Loved that.

That's nice of your mate Mama. Hope things are better.

I always eat lots with strangers. Stops me saying anything too stupid if my mouth is full. Do you bbq all year where you are Ann? You're very hardy.

Anniversary of my mum's death today. She was built like a twiglet and I swear she lived on nothing but bananas and yoghurt. Very eccentric, a teacher. Loads of fun. Will be happy remembering her.

chibi · 17/04/2010 08:17

yesterday i had:

1.5 slices of brown bread, toasted
mixed leaf/tomato salad + ghastly cupasoup
3.5 grilled sausages + asparagus
pot of low fat muller yogurt
assorted cups of tea NO SUGAR

today i am having:
1.5 slices of toast
mixed leaf salad with tomatoes
roast chicken and steamed assorted veg (prob asparg I am going though a phase)

does this sound right? I am portion controlling as best as I can

I am also due to run today, i can manage about 3km before i collapse

positive feedback plz

welcome JackBauer, I won't shout at you, but hotchoc is a sugary empty calorie fest. then again, why be joyless?

chibi · 17/04/2010 08:19

i am sorry isthatporridge, thinking of you

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 17/04/2010 08:21

Down Coco, play nicely with Jack. Ahem, welcome Jack to our scary lovely friendly diet thread with added fashion and insults. Are you doing low calorie or what?

JackBauer · 17/04/2010 08:28

Am going to try and just eat less

Low carbing seems to work for me and just not being a fucking pig and snacking on chocolate and toast.

Going to either go for a run later or do half an hour on the x trainer as well, depens when DH gets up (but he was caught in work until midnight so will let him lie in)

ithatporridge, sorry about you mum, but nice that you have the happy memories now. I am the same, was at a kids party yesterday and found myself hoovering plates until I realised they were nice people and none of them ate anything. Idiot.

ZoneArmatrading · 17/04/2010 08:31

Chibi that sounds like a really good start. Small sausages? Fat buckets they are.

Porridge your mum sounds lovely. Is it only a year? Must have been a very hard one. Me too Sullivans at lunchtime! (And Sons and Daughters on bunking off days. So fairly regularly )

Cheese my QI not sure which channel had Sean Lock saying when he's on the loo he likes to take off his glasses, as he doesn't really need them. He puts them in his pants, which work like a sort of hammock then he forgets they're there and pulls his pants up. I love little insights like that into peoples' lives.

Today we are all jumping on the train and going to Brighton. Just for the hell of it. We will wave to Noddyh and do random things like buy socks in TKMaxx (there are several much nearer to us) I am scheduling in some non low fat food but I will probably just nibble it, until it's all gone a la bobbie.

cocolepew · 17/04/2010 08:32

Porridge hope your day goes well.

JackBauer · 17/04/2010 08:36

Ooh, day out, we are on money rations until payday on friday so probably doing park. again. snore.

Seriously though, options type hot choc any good? Or stick to coke zero? (diet coke is for girls)

ZoneArmatrading · 17/04/2010 08:43

Not an expert but sure the odd options is OK. Cyb will probably snatch your coke and fling it.

Not a big budget here either. We are hoping to squeeze as much wholesome fun out of watching teenagers struggle to walk in shoes that are too high (DD1) or running on things that make a noise and not getting told off (DD2) in order to fend off the endless clamour for slottie money.

cocolepew · 17/04/2010 08:46

Stay away from Diet low cal drink stuff it's full of yuky sweetners [Born Again Bore]

CheeeseOnToast · 17/04/2010 08:50

ZoneA yes that was the episode I saw! That Sean Lock bit was just after David Mitchell's funny bit. I love QI. Have fun in Brighton!

My dad always used to let our little kitten nestle in his underpants when he was on the loo. Weird kitten used to love it.

No let up for travel chaos, it's getting worse, all helplines open at 9am so I will be spending most of this morning trying to sort out my mother.

Fruit n fibre, cup of tea.
Think I'm going to Wagamamas for lunch, I really fancy one of their rice dishes but I might ask for half a portion? Do you think they'll do that? Failing that I'll just have some of the seafood ramen that I love.

Rest of the day's eating really depends on what I have for lunch but think I'll aim for a ham salad.

It's a lovely sunny saturday!! Seems to make it easier to stick to diet-y stuff when its warm ish outside.

Jack - welcome and good luck. Just eating less is a good mantra and means you shouldn't get too obsessive about calories counting or anything else. Eat more, move less is v effective.

CheeeseOnToast · 17/04/2010 08:53

Porridge sorry to hear that. Hope you have an ok day, filled with happy memories of your mum.

Chibi, that sounds ok, although I would avoid sausages. Fat buckets, as ZoneA says.

ooh and my previous post was clearly meant to say 'eat less move more', not the other way round. That would just be silly!

dinkystinky · 17/04/2010 08:53

Morning all. Cheese - hope your mum found some accomodation - sounds like a total mare! Porridge - hope you have a good day remembering your mum fondly. ZoneA - enjoy Brighton. MIL lives there (well in Hove Actually as it is officially known) and is v good for milling around - how old are your DDs? Near the lagoon bit - right at the end of the beach promenade there is a skater park (good for teens) and a playground which is good for littleuns - though DS1 spends most of his time trying to break into the skater park with his scooter

Welcome Jack. I reckon options is fine (is 1WW a sachet) in moderation - particularly if it fends off an attack of the doubledeckers.... Diet coke ok now and then but water is the slimmer's virtuous drink...

Chibi - diet yesterday sounded fine - go for reduced fat sausages if you must sausage though as they are fat buckets otherwise.

Off to go look at kitchens this morning - oh my life is one big whirlwind of glamour and fun...

JackBauer · 17/04/2010 08:59

Eat more move less you say? Well I can do that!

Water it is then
right DH is up and I have told him to harangue me if he sees me picking. This could end in trouble.
