Morning all. I feel rotten today, rotten to the core. Have some kind of D&V bug and stayed at home today. I had a small cup of tea this morn to try and settle stomach but hasn't really worked.

DP is annoyed I'm off work because he's got his business partner (mate) coming over . he also told me I probably picked it up from our dirty kitchen . so nothing to do with travelling on the tube for two hours every day then? We both work full time so, in theory, share the housework, so why have I taken it so personally?! Besides, you can't get ill from a messy kitchen. It wasn't dirty, just had a few pots and pans waiting to go in the dishwasher.

And now I'm in a foul mood cos I've had no sympathy and DP is being a dick. Grrrrrrrr.

So, what can I eat that I won't throw straight back up?!

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 10:02

off fruit surely bad?

have parsnips
am thinking curried parsnip soup for lunch - dh at home
any ideas?

also have some chicken drumsticks and thighs - would do normal ramsey bbq reecipe but am open to suggestions

AitchTwoZone · 07/04/2010 10:24

actually i don't eat that much fruit at the best of times, tbh, am more a savoury, vegetabley sort, so it's no punishment. i think veg wins over fruit nutritionally speaking.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 07/04/2010 10:25

Morning.

Sorry you're feeling crap, Cheeese. I'd stick to bland stuff like rice - nothing dairy, no sugary food (tho coke always helps me when I'm feeling queasy). My grandma used to make me eat a plate of grated apple when I had D&V, she swore it had something settling in it. It worked, anyway.

Su - I've been doing chicken legs roasted on top of mixed veg - peppers, courgettes, onions etc - with a good drizzle of a mix of lemon juice, white wine and honey. YOu could oil the bottom of the roasting pan beforehand to stop it sticking but you don't actually need any oil on top. Really nice (if you like lemony things!).

AitchTwoZone · 07/04/2010 10:26

lowest weight in A Long Time today. i think i've now lost a stone from the heaviest weight i was, but can't remember when that was exactly. deffo lost three quarters of stone since started dieting, what, three weeks ago? so not a spectacular loss, pretty steady and sensible and haven't felt at all punished by dietary changes.

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 10:33

i LOVE lemony things

AitchTwoZone · 07/04/2010 10:38

if it was me i'd pound garlic, grated lemon peel, sea salt and a bit of olive oil together to make a paste, then rub and marinate for a while, then roast.

Sounds delish, aitch.
Had half a pancake, then 2 scottish oatcakes. Apple later.

CheeeseOnToast · 07/04/2010 11:17

Thanks reshape, I'll try grated apple if I'm hungry later. Going to stick to small sips of water for the time being.

Su, my fave recipe for chick thighs/drummers is this:

blend/pound together the following:
two green chillis
nine cloves of garlic
one teaspoon garam masala
squeeze of lemon juice
1 tbs oil
thumb sized piece of peeled ginger.

Cover the chicken pieces with the marinade and leave for several hours or overnight.

Once ready to cook, shake excess from chicken and dip into egg, then breadcrumbs (mixed with black pepper, salt and 1 tsp cumin powder), then egg then breadcrumbs.

Place chicken into a preheated and sizzling oven dish with a splash of oil in. Cook for 20 mins at 200 then another 20-25 mins (depending on size of portions) at 180.

It's from Anjum Anand, she had her own tv show once. I have her book and this is my fave from it, it's delicious. Like KFC but Indian, with lovely fresh ingrediants.

I must be ill, even typing that out didn't make me hungry . not sure about calorie values though... Can't do too bad.

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 11:18

that si terribly calorific but delish

cyb · 07/04/2010 11:31

BALLS just paid the window cleaner an tenner and now its pouring with rain

noddyholder · 07/04/2010 11:41

Am really motivsted atm.Am going to make a huge chicken and veg soup and eat for 3 days!

cocolepew · 07/04/2010 12:30

Hmmm no fruit or carbs? You can have sugar free soda and wheaten bread because they don't have yeast in them. Obvious things like mushrooms, cheese etc. Watch for yeast in packets eg gravy, soups, sauces.

thehillsarealive · 07/04/2010 12:44

hi, just wanted to let you know i havent fallen off the wagon, but am up in Scotland as my Dad has had another stroke, so limited tinternet access. Having lots of food - but also lots and lots of long beach and wood walks so hopefully balancing everything out.

fingers crossed that i am back to (semi) normality soon.

cocolepew · 07/04/2010 12:46

Evans keep sending me e-mails, are they trying to tell me something?

dinkystinky · 07/04/2010 13:08

Sorry to hear about your dad Hills - hope he recovers as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Lol at Coco being stalked by Evans

dinkystinky · 07/04/2010 13:15

At the risk of incurring the wrath of su, back to celeb talk for a sec - though distinctly D level sleb. Sold our old flat to the bloke that used to play Abs on Casualty - top tip, NEVER sell to an actor. Flaky doesnt even begin to describe it...

Have walked 3.5 miles this morning and DS2 (nearly 14 months) was a little star for his hair cut this morning. Rather suspect have worn out all his good will now and he's going to be a horror this afternoon for his jabs. Ho hum.

Cheeeeeeeese - just read up thread abit. Hope you feel better soon. Stick to bland dry food - toast (no or only tiny scrapping of spread), banana, apple - until tummy feels better and drink lots of water/herbal tea. Hope your DP stops being an arse.
