bobbiewickham · 20/03/2010 10:12

I need to join. I can't pretend I'm not fat any longer.

Am five foot 7 and 11 stone 11. In size 14 trousers, size 12 tops and dresses. But wobbly. The fact I have a long torso and small tits makes me look slimmer - but I'm too heavy.

But my problem is that I'm vegetarian - so what do I have instead of lean meat/chicken? I will eat fish - but not every night.

Quite reliant on pasta. Would eggs do for protein, I wonder? And I need to eat nuts, which are fattening. And cheese is a bit of a feature in my diet - bland otherwise.

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 20/03/2010 10:16

tofu?

BariatricObama · 20/03/2010 10:16

hi bobbie, that is the same as my starting weight 2 weeks ago. am now 11 6.

i eat mostly veggie. i eat porridge in the morning. fruit or oatcake for mid morning nibble. veg soup with pulses for lunch, then a veggie chillie or whatever with brown rice. the trick i found is to portion control the evening meal.

bobbiewickham · 20/03/2010 10:18

Wow, five pounds in two weeks! Well done. Inspiring.

Portion control is a bit of a challenge, as I am a pig. Veggie sausages etc all v high fat, too.

I can't stand tofu, Le Singe. It's the texture.

YoginiBikini · 20/03/2010 10:20

Cook Yourself Thin I love this book and also the one by Harry Eastwood. She also does another fab one called Velvet Chocolate or something which is full of cake recipes made with veg like courgette, aubergine etc rather than fats. They really work surprisingly well. Obviously, I'm not baking cakes every day but we have had a few birthdays recently.

Not surprising really that I've not lost the last couple of weeks. At least I'm 'maintaining'though, God I'm even talking like a dieter now!

I realise that I like cooking and good food too much to lose this weight too quickly. I want to enjoy the time I'm losing weight and eat well. The recipes in these books are quite inspiring. They work on just reducing the amount of food/calories you eat. Can't be doing with fandangled diets

BariatricObama · 20/03/2010 10:20

chickpeas are your friend bobbie and all manner of beans.

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 20/03/2010 10:23

some shit diet food deconstructed zoe is a bit po-faced, isn't she?

bobbiewickham · 20/03/2010 10:23

Should I issue a severe gale warning?

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 20/03/2010 10:24

yeah i know what you mean. i only really like it in a hot, noodley, limey, coconut milky lakhsa.

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 20/03/2010 10:26

re the mantra btw. i am not an anorexic.

HumphreyCobbler · 20/03/2010 10:34

I am fatter today than I was yesterday

I find this a little annoying as I have stuck to my plan.

I expect I am about to get my period, if water retention was an olympic sport I would be a gold medal winner.

Never mind, have cooked a lovely lunch for my parents. I will NOT eat the pudding. Or drink the wine.

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 20/03/2010 11:00

Bless me oh reverend mother for I have sinned.

not even going to list what I ate yesterday BUT I did run 3miles yesterday in 28 mins so not all bad.

Have put 1lb on this morning though Stupid.

moodlum · 20/03/2010 11:16

Am in a rush but the Zoe Harcombe stuff looks good - I might try and find it in Waterstones this afternoon.

My skin is terrible atm, so I really need to healthy eat to sort that out. Terrible excema. Gah. So depressing on your face.

Anyway - well done losers.

cyb · 20/03/2010 11:25

why are you lot weighing yourselves everyday? (I know I'm not exactly one to talk as I havent weighed myself at all)

BariatricObama · 20/03/2010 11:27

zooy harcombe says 'An average size woman, needing c. 2000 calories per day, would consume 1/8th of her daily needs with just 1 Mars Bar and not get much nutrition in return for these 259 calories. She could, instead, have a really large tuna salad for close to this number of calories and that would have massively more vitamins and minerals.'

haha, i know she is right but purlease. diet gurus are largely purveyors of the downright obvious.

BariatricObama · 20/03/2010 11:27

i weigh myself everyday cyb, i know i shouldn't but tbh it does motivate me.

cyb · 20/03/2010 11:28

bobbie you are similar shape to me but I am a leetle bit taller I THINK I stared this at about 11 11. I want to be under 11. Portion control and not picking inbetweeny has been the thing for me. AND always refusing the biscuit tin becasue I cant have just one

MamaG · 20/03/2010 11:28

fuck it
I'm in

You have lured me with links to clothes

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 20/03/2010 11:36

yy but here's the thing. i KNOW that a mars bar or a can of coke is calorific and non-nutritious, but i LOVE them (well am more an occasional snickers from the fridge gal). so sometimes i really do need to be reminded that i should have the tuna salad, which is, like, my second favourite food after coke and peanut bar. if that makes me an idiot then so be it.

cyb · 20/03/2010 11:37

bobbie I would eat beans,in spicy tortillas with a smodge of strong cheese grated with salad, (but only 2 instead of my normal 4) feta cheese and cous cous with salad, jacket spud (small) with loads of nice salad on the side, veg soups, oatcakes with cheese and grapes, In fact I would eat what you normally eat.

But eat less of it, which once you put your mind to it and stop thinking you are a natural pig, can be done.

cyb · 20/03/2010 11:38

HOORAY for Mamag. You wont regret it

largeginandtonic · 20/03/2010 11:38

Very well done to all the losers out there.

Cyb no to shiny cargos. Shiny anything really. Unless it's sequins of course

Am feeling fully motivated. Not as hungry.

Is a relief.

Today i do feel a bit slimmer too. Not 6lb slimmer but jeans went on a bit better.

Have just made the Hummingbird bakery carrot cake. I MAY have a slice later. No driniking tonight though.

It is the weekend after all.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 20/03/2010 11:40

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 20/03/2010 11:48

btw she doesn't mention calories in her book, so far as i've seen. she's against points and cals etc and more about the food combining. as ever, it will boil down to something quite simple i'm sure.
