Duckyfuzz that is fantastic.

Well done you. You must feel like a new woman! New wardrobe required too?

I feel the teacher should pin the gold stars upon you.

I ate some tinned pineapple last night. It was in the juice though so not great i don't think. Full of sugar.

Must get some healthy snacks in. What do you all suggest?

cyb · 18/03/2010 07:17

""How to take back control
Plan when and what you will eat There should be no room for deviation; the idea is to inhibit mindless eating and eliminate your mental tug-of-war. Once you've set new patterns, you can become more flexible.

Practise portion control Eat half your usual meal; see how you feel one and two hours later. A just-right meal will keep away hunger for four hours.

List the foods and situations you can't control Cut out those foods; limit exposure to those situations. If offered something you overeat, push it away.

Talk down your urges Learn responses to involuntary thoughts: eating that will only satisfy me temporarily; eating this will make me feel trapped; I'll be happier and weigh less if I don't eat this.

Rehearse making the right choices Before entering a restaurant, imagine chosing a dinner that's part of your eating plan. Think of this as a game against a powerful opponent. You won't win every encounter, but with practice you can get a lot better.
"

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 18/03/2010 07:31

DF - that is brilliant. I do hope that you'll let MN dictate help you choose your new wardrobe and provide unhelpful advice about what to wear.

Cyb - 2 slices of pizza is practically restrained - if it was me with 60 kids I would have been mainlining chips and mayo.

BlueBumedFly · 18/03/2010 07:40

Hello? The diet thread I was on ground to a halt may I join please?

I have lost 8lbs and need to loose another 4 by Saturday 27 march as I am going on a spa day. From there i want to loose another 10 pounds by my holiday on the 7th may and then another stone by the 5th august then i will be really happy!

SuSylvester · 18/03/2010 08:42

welcome fly arse.
we have df( hardcore dieter)
me (half a stone) and a few newbies/ three pounders.

what si your style?

BariatricObama · 18/03/2010 08:47

i lost another 1lb today but i think that is the danger of daily weighing. i will probably put it back on today and then weep tomorrow losing sight of the fact i have actually lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks!

SuSylvester · 18/03/2010 09:11

yes stop BO

my other (ahem) problem seems to haev sorted self
tomorrow is big day

CheeeseOnToast · 18/03/2010 09:15

Morning chaps. Ended up eating just one grilled pork sausage, with half a plateful of brocolli and a sauce/salsa-y thing made from tinned toms, a whole red onion roughly chopped, garlic and chilli. T'was delicious actually, and I don't think it was toooo bad diet wise, although the sausage was bit bad. My tummy was grumbling when I went to bed but I resisted snacks. Porridge for brekkie, ham salad for lunch, and as little as I can manage for dinner. Poss fish?

With DP away for two weeks, I'm also at home, so as long as I stay within the heady confines of my fridge and cupboards I should be ok. Just need to try and have lunch as my main meal of the day and eat fewer cals as the day goes on. Anyone else do this? Does it work?

I don't have scales but was weighed at docs yesterday, 60kg, not as bad as I feared. But my aim is 55kg which should mean I fit into my clothes comfortably. I'm chanelling muffin the mule round my waistband at the mo.

Oh and I'm off out for a run in a min! Will have porridge when I'm back. To quote Britney Spears, I wanna get in the zone!!

largeginandtonic · 18/03/2010 09:18

Very helpful article. I will make up a chant i think.

I forgot to say well done to you Su. You are making it sound easy

I do need some kind of snack. The corn thins sound nice. I like rice cakes too. I like everything really. That is the trouble.

Cyb the back of the tin seemed to spout many calories at me. Maybe it was syrup. Is in the depths of the recycling bin (or not ) now.

Blue well done you. I like the idea of small goals between events. Very motivating.

I will be ok for 2 weeks. Dh will return. 2 weeks leave for him. Then he off again. Not really around much until next March then. I want to be a size 8 by then...

CheeeseOnToast · 18/03/2010 09:18

Oh and well done duckyfuzz, that is some seriously impressive weight loss. How have you managed it? Have you been low-carbing?

BariatricObama · 18/03/2010 09:20

yes su well done. you are an inspiration to hamster bearers everywhere

BlueBumedFly · 18/03/2010 09:44

SuSylvester - thanks!

My style is hardcore calorie counting. I have never gone down this route before, done WW, SW, low carb, high protein, stand on one leg, the whole gambit.

From the 8th March I have eaten 1150 cals a day and I have lost 8lbs, so am sticking with it. I MUST NEVER BE THIS BIG AGAIN!!!!

Right, I am so in. Will read back on the thread and get some good tips.

BariatricObama · 18/03/2010 09:46

wow fly that is good going

BlueBumedFly · 18/03/2010 09:53

I know it will slow down but I am really motivated this time. My friend has resorted to an 800 cal meal replacement programme which I know I could never do and would not suit my metabolism anyway, its ground to a halt as it is! I want to keep a pace with her.

Breakfast:
Just had once slice of toast (90 cals) low fat ham (40 cals) small disc of goats cheese (60 cals) = 190, lets call it 200.

Off to Wagamama for lunch, no option there so will have Yaki Soba, 500 cals. That gives me 450 for dinner which is plenty, trying to do half meals in the evening, just enough, and seeing how I go, have not been hungry yet.

The weekend is coming so will have to reduce cals, eats a tonne of veggies etc so I can have a nice glass of wine

moodlum · 18/03/2010 10:46

DF - that's amazing well done! Keep reminding me of that so I know it can be done!!

Su - yup its the mindless eating I need to deal with. And the mindless glasses of wine I had last night.

Am at WW tonight, not expecting a good result. Need to get back to it. DH did say he thought I looked slimmer, but I think that was more to do with wearing head to toe black today rather than any actual weight loss.

Am super hungry, but have had an apple, a coffee and one slice of jam on toast no butter.

moodlum · 18/03/2010 10:47

Does anyone else get an ad at the bottom of this thread about therapy for the obese? Or can people actually see me on the computer and are recommending this to me
