What did you think of it SandC

applepudding · 10/01/2010 19:02

Hi - can I join you again? I'm planning on doing SW 'unofficially' i.e. without going to Group so I could do with some online support. Don't know exactly what I weigh as my scales have broken but my jeans which were just vaguely tight in November will nowhere near do up so I need to do something. Have actually got some unplanned exercise last week as the snow meant I had to do a lot more walking where I couldn't get the car!

Starting my eating plan today on EE.

Breakfast - porridge with water (HEB)
lunch - mushroom and tomato omelette
Dinner - Roast beef, mash potato with skim milk, dry roast pots with fry light (first time I've done these and you couldn't tell it was fry light), carrots and sprouts - plus syns for my fat free gravy, small yorkshire and glass of wine (thats 11 syns I think)

Must buy some new scales tomorrow.

BethAndHerBrood · 10/01/2010 19:10

Hi everyone.
Me and DH have started SW, been doing it a week. Getting weighed tomorrow, fingers crossed. We're not going to group, just doing it ourselves at home. We've done it before, just need to stick to it.

DH bought me a wii fit plus for xmas, (subtle, eh?), so I'm doing that most days too. I'd quite like to be a runner, but there's no way I'm running outside looking the way I do!

We have mostly green days, as I find they work best for us. Can't be doing with EE as I have no concept of portion control! [greedy mare emoticon]

Although we usually have a red day on a sunday, so we can have a roast.

StrawberriesandCherries · 10/01/2010 22:59

Well, as per usual I left something out of the recipe! Was blending it all and it seemed a bit stodgey so I put in a tiny bit of water, then realised it was stodgey because I hadnt put the lemon juice in (thick thick thick). So i put it in a then it went a bit too runny!!! BUT, I still had it on a jacket potato and it was lovely, really tasty and the spring onions really flavoured it nicely.

So I will definitely try it again, properly this time, as I bet it's delish on Scan Bran too

porkycamper · 11/01/2010 09:22

Just weighed myself after trying the EE plan for the last week. It seems to be working as I've lost six pounds
Good luck to everyone else weighing in.

BethAndHerBrood · 11/01/2010 09:28

I've just got weighed, lost 2 pounds. Am very pleased with that, as I have been a bit relaxed about the plan over the weekend.

porkycamper 6 lbs is great - well done!

I have just done 20 mins on the wii fit, and I can notice the difference in my stamina after only a week, 'tis amazing!

nappyaddict · 11/01/2010 10:42

I find porridge satisfies me for longer than other breakfast cereals.

I use 25g oats and 95ml water, then put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and add either:

  1. mashed fruit/fruit puree/grated apple
  2. cinnamon/nutmeg/ginger
  3. low fat fruity yoghurt/plain yoghurt
  4. chopped nuts/seeds

Today I had mashed banana and cinnamon - YUM.

BethAndHerBrood · 11/01/2010 12:31

I might try the porridge. It's a HEB isn't it?

porkycamper · 12/01/2010 13:58

Thanks Beth and well done on your 2lbs off this week. I don't have a Wii fit, my friend does and she says its really helping her tone up.
For anyone using Laughing Cow light cheese as an HE, Tesco are doing the 16 portion tub for £1, they are also doing 5 Muller Light yoghurts for £1.

QandA · 12/01/2010 18:34

Hello all.

Well done porkycamper and Beth on your WI's.

I have been wondering about a wii fit, those of you that have them, do you use them regualrly, don't want to get one of it is just something else to not do.

Those recipes sound good Nappyaddict, you don't have any vegetarian ones do you? I would like a syn free alternative for putting on ryvitas. Strangely, I really like ryvitas

Weigh in tomorrow, first one since before Christmas. Am keeping my fingers crossed for a maintain.

BethAndHerBrood · 13/01/2010 14:06

QandA, I got my wii fit for xmas, only been using it since the 4th of jan though. I use it every other day at the moment, I think it would be too much every day to start with. But I hope to be able to do it every day soon, I can definately feel it getting easier. It's ideal for me, I have no wish to join a gym, wouldn't be able to fit it in anyway, and I just squeeze in 20-30 mins when I can.

I'm having jacket potatoes for tea, with prawns and salad. Yum!

What's everyone else having?

CuppaT · 13/01/2010 15:31

Hello all

Joined a new group on Monday. I have followed SW before and have always done great on it, know it works for me so it's where I will always come back! It does take motivation to stick to though hence the weight gain .

Anyway, I have a question which I should probably know but forgotten........has anyone else suffered with bloatedness during the first few days. I'm doing EE and have really upped by speed foods and veg etc. I've had terrible cramping pains since and wind.

applepudding · 13/01/2010 19:54

Hi CuppaT - I normally get cramp and bloating if I follow one of those super healthy plans like Gillian McKeith which is all seeds and nuts but thankfully not with SW. Like you I know SW works but lose motivation, gain weight etc etc. I'm also doing EE.

Today I've had:

fruit and yog for breakfast
fruit and alpen lite bar morning snack
baked potato with cottage cheese and ham with salad followed by yogurt
mango slices
Then went to pub and had small steak, mashed potatoes and peas (good so far) and two glasses of wine - one small and one large - so that's 14 syns plus the syns in the red wine sauce for my steak.

I'm OK until I have a drink ... then I always have to have another one {blush}

QandA · 13/01/2010 21:03

Thanks Beth, that's good to know, I may be tempted

apple, I haven't found bloating to be a big problem, well no more than usual! That sounds like a good day anyway, you are only slightly over the syns, but have eaten well.

Had my weigh in this afternoon, lost 6 lb, since my last weigh in before Christmas. I am really pleased and with that, especially as I did have plenty of Christmas goodies.

Had Vegi spag bol for dinner, with a be good to yourself cheesecake after (7 syns)

Glad to see a bit more activity on the thread again

porkycamper · 14/01/2010 09:19

QandA, well done on 6lbs off over the festive season, you must be delighted ;)

QandA · 14/01/2010 18:40

Thanks porkycamper, I am

Now I just have to keep it up

nappyaddict · 14/01/2010 23:55

Not strictly SW but think I may have this tomorrow.

CrosswordGeek · 15/01/2010 00:30

nappyaddict · 15/01/2010 09:50

Well I just meant it wasn't a recipe from SW

CuppaT · 15/01/2010 10:00

Hi

Well bloated belly seems to be settling a bit now, must be getting used to the healthy stuff again!

I made an own recipe pasta bake last night, was really easy and really yum! Just goes to show cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients is easy and you don't need to be a chef!

I'm finding the extra easy plan, well, extra easy! I do however miss the other healthy B.

I REALLY REALLY MUST STICK TO IT THIS TIME!

I am so gutted that I've put on half the weight I lost before . It makes my confidence go so low and I know this but yet continue to eat rubbish .

Anyway, heads back in the game now so probably shouldn't look back!

AuntieMaggie · 15/01/2010 20:30

Hi all

Haven't been around for a while but I'm back now and DP is coming to group too so I have no excuse not to lose weight!

One question - we were told last night that the morrisons sausages are no longer free but now half a syn - anyone else heard that? Cos someone else told me they're 1 and a half syns now.

Good luck everyone - we can do it!

whoops · 16/01/2010 10:18

Hi,

I've just joined slimming world and am still trying to get my head round it!

I have just got a full time job and want to take my own lunch to make things easier and save money but usually take sarnies etc. Can anyone give me some good ideas for lunches please?!

Thanks

BethAndHerBrood · 16/01/2010 14:58

Hi whoops, you can still have a sandwich, using w/m bread (HEB) and a filling relevant to whatever day you're having. Also pasta salads (green), green salads with chopped meat (red) frittatas, (red or green depending what you put in them), massive fruit salad and yoghurt,

Do you have facilities to heat stuff up, or do you just have to take your lunch and that's it?

QandA · 17/01/2010 19:24

Hello to all.

Whoops, home made soup in a flask is a great one for lunch as it will be syn free (depending on what you make) If you have way of reheating things at work, then left overs from your evening meal are really good. It means you are having something healthy and filling, without having to think of, and prepare, another meal.

I think cutting out sandwiches at lunchtime has been a big help to me and is one of the reasons I am losing weight. They were just not filling, yet full of calories.

Cuppa, I think the recipes are really good too, (though there are a few odd ones!)and most are very simple.
