Help me! I joined last night and I am already disheartened. I have only had three syns today. I want to have something nice, not too little, for a couple of syns. What can I have? I have searched ice-cream, go ahead bars, weight watcher cakes, even bloody weetabix. Everything is like a gazillion syns.

broccolitrees · 26/05/2010 18:33

if you have only had 3 and can have up to 15 have some digestives with chocolate spread or hobnobs or sainsbury's light hot chocolate (2 syns per serving) with a little bit of milk

maygirl · 27/05/2010 22:39

buzzingnoise mini flakes for 99 ice cream cones, come in boxes in the ice cream aisle, only 2.5 syns and great chocolate fix. I also found M&S valencia orange lollies, only 3.5 syns or the skinny cow ones between 3.5-4.5. Weetabix oaty bars choc or strawberry 3.5 syns or a HE B.
If I have breakfast cereal that you're meant to have a ryvita or scan bran with I save it for the evening and have with 1 tsp nutella choc spread, around 1.5 syns (4 syns per tbsp).
Feeling a bit better, lost 2.5 this week so have lost half a stone in 6 weeks since started. Have cut out loads of the extras meant to have for BF though ! Oh well!
Hope all having a good week

BuzzingNoise · 28/05/2010 18:37

Well done, Maygirl! I am looking forward to the group on Monday. My trousers are feeling looser already!

auberginesrus · 04/06/2010 08:46

Mini milks are good for a little sweet treat, think they're about 2 syns (check though its a long while since I did SW)

Hello all by the way, I rejoined yesterday and am the heaviest I have ever been when not pregnant . Has worked well for me in the past when I have been motivated to stick to it, and I must do this time as I have high blood pressure and have been told by the doctor I need to lose 5 stone

Looking forward to the extra easy as I think it will fit with family eating a bit better, but will have to be very disiplined re b choices and organised re taking lunch to work.

Any good packed lunch ideas gratefully welcomed!

Dazmum · 05/06/2010 19:39

Hello, can I come back to join this please, need some motivation, as I have just been playing around with Slimming World, i.e not following it properly, then moaning because I'm putting weight on instead of off!I'm really with myself because it's stupid and expensive to cheat, and I've been putting the same couple of pounds on and taking them off for too long!

So, this week I am treating it as though I have just joined, looking the syn values up before I decide to eat them, when it's too late, such as the Cornetto I had which was 11 1/2 , weighing when I need to and writing a food diary which I really will hand in, instead of just saying I will.

They also had a push on cardboard scan bran at group, as it's supposed to boost your losses, so although I really hate them I'm trying them too. Any ideas for anything to make them taste better gratefully received!

TeaOneSugar · 06/06/2010 08:22

Mini Milks are 1.5, and yummy.

maygirl · 07/06/2010 00:55

I put 1 tsp of nutella (1.5 syns) or HE portion dairylea triangles or mozarella with tomatoes on cardboard scan bran dazmum. My sis dissolves scan bran into her porridge.

Had a 0.5 pound gain last week after a hen weekend and have not really got back on track after being away for weekend and not food shopping properly.

Dazmum · 07/06/2010 08:43

That sounds good maygirl, thanks. I have discovered that you need a thick and juicy layer of something with them, to disguise the taste and stop you having to chew each one for half an hour! Someone at group told me you can have 5 laughing cow extra lights as a healthy extra, so that's a whole one for each scan bran, which sounds good. Still hate them.

I cheated and got on the scales this morning to see if there had been any loss and there hasn't, I got quite excited to start with, but sadly mistook a 9 for a 5. I'll be pretty hacked off if I don't lose anything this week, I've never tried so hard since I've been going, so I'm not going to weigh myself until the official one on Wednesday night.

broccolitrees · 08/06/2010 12:51

ok - i've joined a group to kick me in the pants and shift that last little bit. i was down to the last 5lbs but put on a right load after a fantastic weekend at a family wedding - although i am hoping that that is just fluid retention as a result of the yummy food, which i didn't go that mad on. the cheese was lovely though, and there was a lot of butter on the vegetables......

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 08/06/2010 16:49

Can I join?

Started at Slimming World 2 weeks ago, had 1 st 8 lbs to loose, have lost 8.5lbs so far.

Have just bought some scan bran, are they really that bad? Haven't tried them yet, may palm them off on DH, he is also doing slimming world, but not going to the meetings, I'm weighing him at home (Oh, the power!). It's his first weigh in tomorrow, hope he has done well, he has about 3 stones to loose.

Dazmum · 10/06/2010 17:14

Hi BoiledEgg, don't be put off, do eat the scan bran!If I had to choose I'd go for the oat ones rather than the full on bran ones, although they might be more cardboardyanddisgusting effective.

I did lose 1 1/2lbs this week so I was pleased because it means I lost what I put on the week before. You are doing really well and its good that your DH is doing it with you. Mine's like a stick, but he still likes the meals luckily. Let us know how he does. We used to have a husband and wife at our group and he always cheated and still lost more than she did!

I now have 12lbs to go to get back to target and I still feel very determined. Why's it so easy to put on and so hard to get off?

sausagebear · 12/06/2010 12:48

Hi. I joined slimming world 5 weeks ago and have lost 1st 3.5lbs so far. Am really pleased but only lost 1lb this week. I don't know what went wrong! I lost weight with sw 6 years ago and my average loss was 2-3lbs per week, and so far its been 4-5, so was really gutted to only lose 1! I know its still a loss, but I've got such a long way to go yet, and I was so good all week, so really don't know what went wrong! Am keeping a food diary this week, so hopefully that'll help. Fingers crossed!!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 17/06/2010 12:44

Thanks for replying Dazmum, I've lost 11lbs in 3 weeks now, and DH has lost 8lb in 2 weeks, (and he has had a little cheat!) so we are both really pleased.

I quite enjoy the Scan Bran, but only have 2.5 for breakfast along with an Alpen Light, I find they are a bit too "potent" if I eat 5!

We are cooking a huge Indian Banquet for 8 friends this weekend, so have been saving syns throughout the week, fingers crossed for a small loss on Monday.

Did anyone discuss target weights with you? I was just given the club 10 weight. I am 5'8" and now 11st 2lb and go on clothes sizing mostly, am now comfortable in all my 12's, rather than red rings round my middle when I took them off.

Maybe they will discuss it when I reach 10st 10lbs.

Dazmum · 19/06/2010 18:08

Hi BoiledEgg (your name makes me hungry , that's really good for both of you. I lost another 1 this week which I was pleased with, and that's without the scanbran, I just couldn't face it! I've got friends over tonight, so am going to be flexible too, have they done 'flexible' syns with you? Means you don't have to save all week apparently, but your way sounds best to me.

You can set a target whenever you like I think, and change it if you want to. I decided to make mine 9 st 10, so if I went 3lbs over I'd still be under 10. However, instead of carrying on going once I got to target, I got cocky and thought I could keep it off, by myself, but I couldn't and put about 10lbs on, so I am back and it's taking me forever to get rid of it!

Good luck for Monday, and enjoy your banquet, don't feel guilty!

IloveBafanaBafana · 22/06/2010 13:32

Hi All

Can I please join you all. Joined SW this AM.
My brother's wedding is in October in South Africa, with lots of people I have not seenin 8 years. Would dearly love to look the way I did then, so need to lose about 1.5 stone in total.
This coupled with 10 days in France in July, I thought that I would get going now!

My downfall is the wine unfortunately, followed by eating to much the day after the night before!!! .

Looking to help support and exchanging quick easy recipes.

Plan to follow extra easy!

I have to lay off the eggs a bit as I have potential (to be confirmed) problem with painful gallstones. Have lost about 2 stone with SW so far, but haven't been able to go due to money issues. I start again this week. Yay! Does anyone know if Oatso Simple can be used as a healthy extra choice? I have checked my books and can't find any mention but I know HEs are being added all the time on the website and new books.

Dazmum · 22/06/2010 17:46

Hi IloveBafanaBafana and shinybootsofleather!

I was going to check on the website for you about Oatso simple, but I can't remember the password this week . I read on another website that a plain one could be a HE B, but I will ask at group tomorrow unless another helpful person comes along in the meantime. It's 5 syns if its not a HE B, 7 for a flavoured one.

Good luck!

Can I join in please? I have just started following SW again as I was the heaviest I have ever been, including in my previous pregnancies and wanted to lose at least 3st.

I don't go to a group, just follow at home, but started 3 weeks ago and have lost 12lbs so far. Weigh in will be Saturday.

Congrats to everyone on their weightloss, it has really encouraged me to read this thread as the huge losses I get seems os surfreal I almost don't believe it when I do it myself at home. Seeing others big losses makes me realise I am not imagining it.

hubbabubbababba · 23/06/2010 07:49

hi all, can i join, i am on day 2 of my sw journey and i have about 1.5-2 stone to lose in total, hopefull about a stone before Aug 21st as i am getting married then, eek! its really encouraging to see some of the total losses on here, very motivating!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 23/06/2010 14:27

Hi All, Lost anther lb this week, not bad after Indian banquet, and a little treat on Fathers Day. DH lost 2lbs so he is now at 10lbs in 3 weeks, and people are starting to comment.

We have always cooked from scratch in the past, so it's not about finding all new recipes, more like tweaking the ones we already like. That said we loved the Spanish fish stew in this months SW magazine, and also the bacon and spinach penne (just added more chopped chilli)

Good luck with this week everyone.

IloveBafanaBafana · 23/06/2010 16:33

Well done Boiledegg. Love the sound of the spainish fish curry, must get me to a newsagent and get the magazine, Was the bacon and spinach also in this months?

I love cooking too, but can be lazy, actually like being forced into the kitchen to cook.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 23/06/2010 17:42

Yes, it is in this months, some quite good recipes.

I also get Olive magazine (foodie heaven) and lots of the recipes in that can also be tweaked.

Just to stop us getting bored.

MountTheFairy · 24/06/2010 12:22

Hello all! I'd like to ask you for some advice. I have decided to take control of my weight (again). I have yo-yoed my whole life, although for the past year or so I have been steady 12 stone 10. I am 5ft 7. I am also TTC and all the doctors say I should try and reach ideal BMI, which is a couple of stone less, although ideally I would like to loose 3. To be honest, I think I can do it on my own, as it is just the matter of deciding and having willpower. I have done it on my own before.

I am, however, contemplating Slimming World in order to get the more holistic advice on getting fit as well. So could you please help me decide? Is SW good with exercise plans? And another main worry for me is how time consuming it is: going to meetings, eating special food...?

Also (And I'll stop here, I promise!) my hubby is obese, more seriously than me. Are there any couples who go there?

Thank you so much and I am sorry to babble. It's just that until now it was a vanity issue for me, but it is becoming a health issue and even more so for my hubby!
