hi and welcome riven and porkypoo - yes couscous is free, as is pasta (not fresh) and rice. I had home made chicken and veg curry with basmati rice for tea - free on extra easy if you follow the rules on its composition!

clutteredup my mum's a bit like yours in that respect and can confirm that your mum telling you that you are fat is quite upsetting! Mine has been doing SW for 3 months now and has lost 1.5 stones, and is very keen that I should do similar. Luckily I have the added incentive of returning to work in July to keep me on track or I would regress to teenagerhood and eat rubbish just to spite her

cupc4kes · 26/04/2010 20:31

Hi

Can I join please. I started SW a couple of weeks ago I had my 1st proper weigh in on Thurs and I lost 2 and a half pound little bit disapointed at 1st thought I would of lost more but a loss is a loss. Im finding it hard to find things to snack on though so any advice would be brill. Im eating the WW yogurts inbetween and also fruit but I like savoury things so Im a bit at a loss on what to have? Hopefully speak to you all soon xx

smallblackflowers · 26/04/2010 21:17

hi cupc4kes I snack on ham and cold chicken, cottage cheese and carrot sticks. HTH

cheekyminx76 · 27/04/2010 06:34

Hi there, can I join you. I recently starting again with SW but alot has changed since I did it last. How good is EE and is it better than red/green days? Thanks x

Is the Ainsley couscous free? (doing Green but non veggie green)

My Mum told me I had 'very bad water retention' last year in an attempt to get me to diet but I don't think I could cope with outright 'go on a diet', you're both very restrained not to have booped your mums on the nose!

whoops · 27/04/2010 11:12

Morning!

I'm still about! Just keep forgetting to come on here

I'm now 2lb away from losing 2 stone was hoping to have lost the 3lb last week but only shifted 1 and came away disappointed as I thought I had been really good. So as you can guess I had a couple of days where I didn't really follow things properly although I did make better choices than I probably would have!

Back on track now though!

Does anyone know if you can use the Weetabix Oaty bars as a healthy extra B?

cupc4kes · 27/04/2010 15:44

Smallblackflowers I never thought about just having chicken in the fridge if that makes sense, lol.Ive got all the carrot sticks etc but Ill try the chicken but with the ham Im worried about the type of ham to use, do you just have wafer thin smoked ham or do you use any particular kind. Sorry to be asking thick questions but I need to get into the swing of things, lol xxx

smallblackflowers · 27/04/2010 21:32

cupc4kes I tend to cook a gammon joint and slice bits off (avoiding all fat), but AFAIK wafer thin is fine, and if you have 'real' ham just bin the fat!

Another good savoury snack is some free soup - make up a big batch and have a bit when you fancy something

or my staple for last week, a big bowl of pasta salad with tuna, sweetcorn, tomato , grated carrot, lettuce, which I nibbled at for about 3 days, every time I passed the fridge in fact

cupc4kes · 27/04/2010 22:22

Thanks Smallbalckflowers

Ill have a look at making the soup cos in 1 of the books Ive got theres a reciepe for minestrone soup I think Ill give that go. My thing this week is Batchelors packet rices they are lovely. Until doing this I never realised how much bread I used to eat I was having bread at least once a day! Is there anyone else who used to eat that much bread is it just me?

lunavix · 27/04/2010 23:05

Hi everyone! I'm back again, I've been drifting between all the diets and not committing myself to one, well tomorrow at 6pm I'm committing to SW again! lol. Please please wish me luck.. I'm going to need it!!!

cupc4kes - is that the savoury rices n stuff? One or two of those are free aren't they? I always get confused with the pasta n sauce ones as two are free and the others aren't!
smallblackflowers (oh my, MSP? I think we had this conversation years ago? If so I hope and pray it wasn't on a SW thread! lol) Cco-op always do tubs of gammon that's been shredded and cut into chunks, looks like leftovers from carving at the deli. BIG tubs too :D

whoops - well done, and I don't think so with the oaty bars, think it's just the alpenlights and those manky ryvita ones isn't it?

I need serious serious help for when I'm at work please everyone! I'm training as a nurse so work long shifts and struggle to eat around work and eat the right things. I get up at 445am for work and start at 7am and between those hours I don't have time to sit and eat unless it's on the train and quite frankly can't be bothered doing anything special but need to be full. Was trying a mullerlight/banana/etc but just not cutting it.

So then by the time I get a break (in theory 12pm onwards, in reality 3pm if I'm lucky!) I'm ravenous and need something that will have transported well, is filling, doesn't involve a stove, and sometimes didn't involve too much preparation the night before if I was on a shift that day. As I clearly won't cook.

Which leads me to dinner... I'll get in around 9pm, and will not cook for myself as far too tired. I have a few issues with reheating frozen meals from batch cooking which I'm trying to overcome but still struggling with.

Any suggestions? Sorry that was a bit waffly, late and tired!

And that's not even starting on my week of nights coming up... no idea how I'm going to do that one!!!

blondiep14 · 28/04/2010 11:32

bugger, bugger, bugger.
Stupidly jumped on the scales (1st weigh-in tomorrow evening) and it appears I haven't lost a thing!!!! .
How can this be???! I have been really good

cupc4kes · 28/04/2010 21:13

lunavix

They are the Batchelors rices the beef and golden rice are def free but to be honest Ill check but I think there all free. Pasta 'n'sauces are half a syn arent they? I do pop on the SW website and you can put stuff in there and it tells you whether they are free or have syns. Tonight I brought some Quorn peppered steaks and they were lovely really spicy, just brought them to pick at as they are free as well. xx

cupc4kes · 28/04/2010 21:18

Sorry Blondie

Totally missed your post. Could your scales just not be accurate I know the SW ones are calibrated and that they are checked regulary so it could be that your scales are out. Id wait and see what happens at your weigh in tomorrow and go with theirs. Ive got my weigh in tomorrow as well so good luck for tomorrow chick xxx

smallblackflowers · 28/04/2010 22:02

lunavix yes to the MSP reference, and no, you've not mentioned it before (I know that because it has never been mentioned by anyone ever....)

Re your what to take to work question - have you thought of a thermos flask? I used to take warm stuff in one when I worked somewhere without a microwave, it just gave me a bit more choice...it doesn't have to be soup either, just anything that's a bit sloppy!

I'm weighing in tomorrow, hoping for my 1/2 stone award.

smallblackflowers · 28/04/2010 22:03

ooh, how rude of me
good luck to my fellow thursday weigh-iners too

blondiep14 · 28/04/2010 22:05

Fingers crossed for us all!

winstonstimpson · 29/04/2010 09:44

Hi can I join you? Joined SW two weeks ago. I'm following EE with extra HEs for breastfeeding my 11 week old DD. I've got 2 stone to lose. My group seems quite positive, compared to groups I've been to before
