⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️ LOSE IT! July Jumpstart 2026⭐️

Here we are with our Active August LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!
Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone
after having been on the wrong side of 12stone.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Ah I overdid my calories yesterday. It is the classic thing that happens when I start a diet. I ate really well on 1st Aug. Didn’t stuff my face, but 3 healthy balanced meals and a drink of cocoa so still had a bit of sugar.

slept badly as was hungry and ate a lot more on Sunday.

not beating myself up. Did a good food shop and meal plan yesterday so today should be on track on the whole.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 03/08/2026 15:28

Today I fit into a size 16 swimming costume! Down from size 24!

This is amazing. Well done. What are your tips?

socks1107 · 03/08/2026 17:55

I found you all!! Very quick update and place mark from me - eating my words I lost 2.5lbs this week. Now been here before and it swings back up so not too excited yet but I only saw this number once so maybe just maybe this time it will stay there.

@DreamingOfGeneHunt that’s incredible well done!!
@Joyful26 we are all guilty of this!

@TheRealHousewife how are you feeling now? Better I hope.

@JustOneMoreMargarita I’m in London tmrw, no aircon in my office. It’s utterly miserable and I drink gallons of water trying to keep hydrated

Thank you!!
Well it's taken me two years, so it's not been a quick thing. And I had about 9 months maintaining to give myself a break.
I walk a lot, I do a lot of lifting and carrying at work, I eat mostly vegetarian and I haven't cut anything out, because then I feel deprived and give up.
It's been going very slowly lately, it's been hard to stick to it, but I'm glad I am doing.

WearyAuldWumman · 03/08/2026 20:47

Not back to eating properly yet - jaw is still too sore and won't open fully at one side.

However, went back to Pilates today and then saw that there was a space in the Zumba class, so I decided to have a go. Can't say I managed all the steps, but I had a go.

LemonDrizzle23 · 03/08/2026 20:48

Hey @PatienceOfEngels 👋 sounds like you've got a good plan in place to move forward.

Looking forward to some respite from the heat in the next couple of days. DS is still awake currently while we try and cool his room down.

My fantasies about autumn and cooler weather led me to trying on a very old Ted baker wool coat this weekend. It doesn’t quite do up yet, but by winter (hopefully) it’s going to look super smart! It hasn’t fit forever, so also basically looks brand new as well.

Not looking forward to WOW as too hot and puffy 😭

10kstepsaday · 03/08/2026 22:48

Very much ready for Autumn now, had enough of this heat!! Today was :

B - porridge, berries, chia, PB
L - 2 slice of toast with butter (poorly planned day, was on the go and stopped at the nearest shop of which has precisely zero options for anything healthy! So opted for toast at my friend house!)
D - Jerk Chicken

40 mins dumbbell! Feeling sore now!
Rest day tomorrow ☺️

Mash88 · 04/08/2026 07:13

Checking in for August. I’m with you guys, I’ve done with this heat. It just zaps me of any will power.
However next month I have a weekend trip away to Dublin, and a holiday to Crete in October. Just counted and I fly in 10 weeks. I don’t hate how I look in swimwear but I could look slimmer, more toned & feel more comfortable and confident by then.
That has given me a right kick up the arse now I’ve realised how close it is.
Bring on August!!!

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 04/08/2026 08:51

Morning! Back to 14 stone 9 so hopefully this means I'm not going to go up again.

JustOneMoreMargarita · 04/08/2026 10:14

I swear the heat is keeping the weight from coming off.

Did ok yesterday - minimal snacking, over 15K steps, short weights workout. Still feeling motivated but I’d like to see some downward movement on those scales soon.

TheRealHousewife · 04/08/2026 10:21

Good Morning Everyone

Thank you for the well wishes. Feeling more human at last. Just a small tiny bit of cellulitis remains and I’m sure the final 3 week course will see that off. After which I’m not sure if I have to have blood tests for Lymn disease.

NUTRI-Check App

For those of you who have the Nutri-check app it’s now enabled to track intermittent fasting. Also you can now add 4 macros to the tracking tab. Both are very useful!

Welcome to the thread @mumof1littlebun @Amayonaising @Mash88 👍

A warm welcome back @PatienceOfEngels ❤️

How are you @WearyAuldWumman . On the mend?

Well done on your losses @Fellsbells @socks1107 👌

@10kstepsaday @LemonDrizzle23 Me too! I am really ready for the cooler weather, candles, warm fires and hot cups of tea snuggled up with a good book, whilst the rain and wind rattles the windows. Lemon, In regards to feeling puffy with the heat I’ve noticed if I sleep with a fan running it kinda dissipates the heat oedema I’ve accumulated during the day plus it helps me sleep 👍

@DreamingOfGeneHunt Thats one awesome NSV! 👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi salad bowl.
Meal 2 - Prawn Stir fry. Greek yoghurt bowl.

Drinks - Tea, black coffee, green tea, water.

@Glitterybeethat is incredible! Well done! @mumof1littlebun kids off here too and it does make it much harder to plan and stay in routine. I've got 3 of my kids birthdays in August too which definitely doesn't help the cake consumption but I'm trying to just keep the rest good and get out for a run as often as I can. I lost a centimetre off my waist in July and I fit some PJ's I didn't used to 😁 I'm still looking at scales, has anyone got the smart scales that tell you body fat percentage etc? I'm wondering if that might be more useful especially as I'm trying to build muscle too, but wondering if they might be too good to be true.

FridayNighFeeling · 04/08/2026 12:21

Welcome back @PatienceOfEngels

I feel very puffy from the heat too - just took my rings off. Did a double class in the gym last night - first time I was brave enough! May weigh tomorrow and see what's what, may not be brave enough.

WearyAuldWumman · 04/08/2026 13:11

Thank you, @TheRealHousewife . Better than I was...still a bit sore. Apparently, the problem might or might not clear up, given the proximity of certain nerves to the surgery site.

Still can't open my jaw completely comfortably on the one side, but I'm fine.

Weight this morning: 14 stones 1lb, so a bit heavier than my check-in on a previous thread of 13 stones 13lbs, but less than I was. (Had gone back up to 14 stones 6lbs.)

I'm sticking to a breakfast of cornflakes, creatine powder and 'lactose free' semi-skimmed milk. (Was taking oatmilk at one point, but the 'lactose free' suits better vitamin and calcium wise.)

At the moment, I'm having a milky coffee at breakfast.

Have a similar issue. I think I have high cortisol.. could that be an issue?

Yes, could be. I need to meditate more!

TheWayTheLightFalls · Yesterday 06:06

Hello all, signing in. No WoW for me today as I’m on holiday with the kids. Not especially healthy eating happening but I’m sticking to a bit of a gym routine with just my body weight (pushups, dips etc) and a fair amount of walking.

Fellsbells · Yesterday 07:19

Good luck wowers.

July’s whoosh has finally hit, plus hormones, IBS and a small dose of perimenopausal anxiety has seen 4lbs off this week. Aiming for maintaining now.

LemonDrizzle23 · Yesterday 07:21

Morning WOWers!

Stay the same for me this week. Completely deserved given the first half of the week I was up to my eyebrows in crisps and chocolates 😬 But we’re 2.5 weeks into the summer hols and for the first time I haven’t gained yet, which I’m treating as a win!

SW: 15 st 8.5
CW: 13 st 5.5
Next goal: 12 st 12

LemonDrizzle23 · Yesterday 07:22

@Fellsbells 4lbs is a great whoosh!

socks1107 · Yesterday 08:10

@Fellsbells well done!!

I had lost 2.5lbs as of Sunday but don’t weigh today as I leave for work too early: if I don’t wait an hour after getting up my weight is high with fluid retention so tmrw I’ll re weight.

first 10 days on wegovy tablets done, I’m still
taking every other day but have done one consecutive trial and the nausea has not returned so after Monday I’ll go back to daily and. I’ve 4lbs now to get to a healthy bmi - hoping to be there by the end of August

RoseInAPot · Yesterday 09:02

Good morning WOWers

I’m using my Happy Scale trend weight, and started on 24th June (6 weeks ago) with a weight of 66.5kg.
I hit my first milestone (65.2kg) on 13th July

This morning after weighing my trend is 65.2kg, so half a kilo up on my trend prior to my holiday (actual weight this morning was 66.1kg, 1.2kg up on this time 2 weeks ago but thanks to Happy Scale smoothing I don’t feel too bad!)

We had a very relaxing time on holiday and the holiday level eating and drinking finished yesterday. I don’t think I overdid it too much and mitigated the excess a little by averaging over 12k steps a day but other than that there was no serious exercise.

Back on the horse today, with a plan to up the exercise and decrease the intake.
Next milestone is 63.5kg with a predicted date of the end of August if I commit to losing 0.5kg per week.

According to the trend then I’ve lost 1.8kg in total in 6 weeks but put 0.5kg of it back on. I’m content with that as it did include a holiday. Now to really buckle down for a while.

PatienceOfEngels · Yesterday 09:12

Thanks for the welcome back! Lovely to see familiar names. Well done and good luck to everyone WOWing today.

On holiday with a fridge full of food that needs eating before we leave 😂

Yesterday was a bit of a blowout day as out in London = supermarket sandwich +crisps, McDonald's for tea, 2 ice creams. Though I did only drink water (silver linings). Also walked 15K steps in the heat.

Chilling out today in holiday accommodation (thankfully it's much cooler here now). Might go for a walk but probably just reading + TV + yoga and catching up on washing. Have had a lot of relative time (visiting family) so need some space to just relax.

Food for the rest of the week"
2 x homemade chicken curry (will go easy on the rice)
1 x supermarket pizza (we rarely do this at home so this is a holiday treat)
Maybe one meal out.

Have lots of fruit to eat with yoghurt but will also be having some cheese/crackers/grapes while we're here. If I can stay off the crisps I'll be happy. When I get back home I have 2 more weeks of summer break and should be able to get into a nice routine then.

@LemonDrizzle23 I also hate the heat and love autumn. Just got some drizzle here and it's heaven with a strong breeze coming over the hill. I'm wearing jeans instead of shorts/linen trousers for the first time in weeks (sitting outside enjoying the air).

JustOneMoreMargarita · Yesterday 10:32

1kg off for me this week, although still not quite shed all the holiday weight. Hopefully will be gone by this time next week though.

Have upped my steps back to a 16K daily average and did a 4K run this morning.

Starting to feel like I’m making progress again now.
