⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from LOSE IT! Joyful June 2026

Here we are with our July Jumpstart LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Just out of the doctor's. Basically said it's just a plateau, keep doing what I'm doing.

I've had my thyroid removed some years ago but I'm properly medicated so she doesn't think it's anything to do with that.

Quite frustrating. Oh well, we move on.

Hi @DreamingOfGeneHunt Apologies I haven’t seen any of your previous posts saying you didn’t have a thyroid. Please ignore my previous posts about thyroid disease.

Hi All
Just checking in
I have been keeping trying with healthy eating but my workouts have taken a side step now the kids are on holiday. I need to find a new routine and get into it.

Also been having some body problems, lots of acid reflux recently, heart palpitations and the other day I had a very funny turn when eating out with the kids - lost my hearing and my sight and thought I was going to pass out from tummy pain but then it passed thankfully, Will be making a GP appointment but it's making me unsure of what foods to avoid to prevent further symptoms so I have barely eaten for last few days. Could be stress related also. The body is a conundrum sometimes!!

Oh my goodness @10kstepsaday that sounds scary and very unsettling. I hope you get answers soon 🤞

Hi all I am still about but still battling the last half a stone, I’ve been fluctuating between 3lbs since March. I’ve increased exercise, decreased calories you name it I’ve done it and nothing is budging. I can’t eat less than 1400 when I bun 500 ish day. So I think I’ve made the decision to try the wegovy tablets, I’ve been approved through bolt as I have high blood pressure. Very unsure feels an utter failure ( I only think that about me no one else) after doing 45lbs on my own. It’s really getting me down though not seeing any progress for so much effort!

hope everyone else is ok, oh and my wow was up 1lb again!!! Despite not a calorie out and all exercise completed. Gutted

@socks1107 I hear you. Sometimes our metabolic function needs some encouragement, especially as we get older. Although I believe you are one of our threads younger members. If you’re comfortable about it do keep us posted on how you get on and good luck 🤞 x

@TheRealHousewife thank you! I am likely one of the oldest though, I’m over mid forties now, on HRT, bp meds etc.
Really battled with this decision and it’s been tough but I’m here now and had given it till this week to see a loss and it’s just a bounce about again. My thinking is the GLP1 will help me in reducing the calories a touch further and supporting my metabolism. I was getting so down with zero losses or a loss then an immediate gain.
maybe I’ll hit that 50lb loss before my next holiday!! I will stick around here though as this group has supported my current loss so be sad to go.

Hi @socks1107 Id love it if you stayed around and I absolutely understand your decision. I felt the same in coming to my decision about accepting a prescription for a GLP1 medication. What helped me to make my mind up was the fact I’m insulin resistant and as such it’s difficult to shift stubborn belly chub. In simple terms most people views these weight loss meds as appetite suppressants but they are so much more than this. This is what I’ve learnt:-

  1. Better blood sugar stability; Insulin sensitivity. Too much circulating insulin promotes fat storage and inhibits fat burning. Wegovy mimics a natural gut hormone called GLP1. When we eat it tells your pancreas to release the right amount of insulin and only when blood sugars are rising. Wegovy also lowers glucagon which is a hormone that raises blood sugar. This all equals fewer spikes and crashes in blood sugar. This aspect is especially helpful for insulin resistance and stubborn belly chub = less fat storage.

  2. Wegovy helps with appetite and feeling full. It will signal your brain that you’re satisfied sooner and for longer. It also slows how fast your stomach empties so you feel fuller for longer on smaller portions. It’s smarter than just turning hunger off, it turns down the food noise.

  3. Wegovy indirectly quietens the hunger hormone ghrelin. It also indirectly affects our levels of the fullness hormone leptin. As we lose fat our bodies become sensitive to the leptin we already have.

  4. Wegovy is also touted anti-inflammatory and can help with other metabolic tweaks (I’m still researching).

  5. Wegovy is available in pill and injection. I’ve started on 1.5mg pill but I will be moving to the injection for my next prescription for the following reason:- The pill form of Wegovy has added SNAC - Salcaprozate Sodium which is required to aid in its absorption through the gut wall. Recent animal studies have shown that SNAC can negatively affect the gut microbiome, reduce short chain fatty acids and raise bodily inflammation. This was a study done on animals and doesn’t mean it will directly translate to humans but I’m not wanting to take the chance. Also the pill form isn’t recommended for breast feeding mums as it can be passed on in breast milk.

That’s really interesting that you’ve decided to take it too - having been around on this board for 18 months I feel really reassured now that my decision was a good one! I hope you are seeing good results with it.

I was diagnosed pcos 24 ish years ago and my DDs were conceived with fertility treatment, I’m sure there’s some insulin resistance for me and I’m 8 years post hysterectomy now too. All the odds are stacked against me creeping to a healthy bmi.
thanks for letting me stick around - it was such a huge decision for me that I’ve been putting off for months it’s nice to have continued support here.

TheRealHousewife · 23/07/2026 18:53

Hi @socks1107 Off course you can stay, you ladies are who make these boards what they are. I’ve always said there are no rules on these threads as people generally know what works for them. I decided at the beginning of the week after discussing my quite long term weight stall with my pharmacist and doing a bit of research. My metabolism, under active thyroid, disability, being post menopausal and insulin resistant sort of sets me up for failure. I categorically know I can’t improve my diet as I eat healthy. I’ve already lost over 3 stones slowly over the years. I see GLP1 as a bit of a helping hand metabolically speaking 👍.

Good Luck @socks1107 I will definitely be interested to hear your journey and hope the tablets help you get to your goal!! I am so tempted by GLPs as just want this last stone gone but I am too scared 🙈

Morning all! Didn't weigh myself yesterday or today, we went to the seaside and I had a day off the diet.
Back on it today, made some courgette and bean soup for lunch and dinner will be Slimming World cottage pie.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Good afternoon all. This is such a lovely thread (I’ve only been here a couple of months). I’m pleased we can all support each other (with no judgement) with whatever methods we are using and whether we are currently feeling happy or disappointed with our progress.

My weight is going in the wrong direction and I don’t really know why.

Check-in today using my Happy Scale ‘moving average’.
SW (16.06.26): 8st13
Last week: 8st12.7
Current: 8st13.1
Target weight: ??8st?? (Lose tummy fat!)

However, my actual weight today was 9st0.5. Tipping into the 9st feels really scary. I’ve spent nearly all of my adult life at 8st.

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/07/2026 16:11

I’m so annoyed the weather is getting hot again! I’m finding the 26/27C rather lovely and cannot be bothered with it being 32C again next week 🤦🏼‍♀️

First week of the summer hols has been fun. Good balance of play dates, work and a bit of relaxation as DS is a bit more able to chill now instead of needing to be constantly entertained.

FridayNighFeeling · 24/07/2026 18:32

Hi all, just read through 30 posts to catch up with you all. We've had a week by the seaside so it's been fun and terrible for the diet. Lots of walking up and down a steep hill too. And now my period has arrived Hmm

Food shop ordered for Sunday morning, I'm booked in to see the osteo on Monday, gym on Tuesday. I know what to eat - just need to stick to it! (again)

@TheRealHousewife I wish you all the best with your decision, you eat so well and take your health so seriously that I know you've explored every other avenue. Hope this works well for you.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 24/07/2026 19:18

Well my cottage pie didn't happen because the bloody mince had gone off! So dinner is cabbage curry from an old Lalita Ahmed recipe book.

10kstepsaday · 24/07/2026 23:41

@Sunflowers83I know it's all relative and personal to each person but it's so funny I am desperate to see the 9 stones on the scales and get out of the 10s! 🤣

Hope everyone doing well!

I did a 25 min dumbbell workout today which was back and tricep focused. First proper workout for a while so pleased with that.

I made the most delicious dinner too -
It was baked sweet potato filled with sauteed mushrooms, black beans, avocado and a tahini dressing 🤌🏻 exquisite

Have lost like 1 pounds for the whole of this month so need to focus focus focus!!

Sunflowers83 · 25/07/2026 05:58

@10kstepsaday Yes, I understand that my ‘panic’ weight is a weight that other people might be underweight. As you say, all relative. I’m fairly short and very small framed, so 9st is definitely too high for me. I spent most of my adult life around 8st and at my height/size this extra stone is a big difference and I don’t like it.

Well done for doing a workout. Your dinner sounds delicious!

LemonDrizzle23 · 25/07/2026 08:44

Well, coming into the weekend with a bit of a loss, but that could be because of a dodgy tummy, so I’m not sure the loss will stick around!

Busy day today but then nothing tomorrow. DS has requested a “veg” day, and after a busy week I don’t blame him. We have been able to start a bit of a habit of family walks after YEARS of him complaining whenever he had to walk for longer than about 5mins. So I will make sure we do those today and tomorrow before he gets to turn into a vegetable 😂

10kstepsaday · 25/07/2026 08:52

@Sunflowers83yeah the extra stone for me too makes such a difference to how I feel, we can do this 🤩

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 25/07/2026 09:56

No change here, hoping for 14 stone 8 on Wednesday though.
Going to get lots of walking in today.

Kitchenbattle · 25/07/2026 11:03

This mornings weigh in is 54.2kg. My aim was 54kg but I might go to 53kg and maintain from there. So far it’s a loss of 9.8kg!! I actually cannot believe it!!

10kstepsaday · 25/07/2026 19:59

Today I did a 20 min hiit workout and had chia seed pudding for breakfast, sweet potato and chickpea salad for lunch and homemade meatballs for dinner 😋
Snacks was berries and a granola bar.
